    New setup - GV600(S) on Optiplex 210L

Also make sure you don't have ANY uninstalled or incomplete/unidentified drivers under device manager. Since GeoVision software displays and records both video and audio (even if you're not recording audio) it has to have a working video and audio device in the system.

    New setup - GV600(S) on Optiplex 210L

Do you know what chipset your Dell's motherboard uses? Quote from Geovision "GV-600 is currently not compatible with VIA series and ATI series chipset motherboards"

    IP cam integration

You'll need to upgrade to Geo 8.4 for their newer IP cams.

    V8.31 cant access Viewlog

Remote View Log for Ver 8.31 uses port 5552 running under the Control Center Server in the Geo software and needs to be forwarded thru your router. Make sure the CCS program is running along with Web under Networks. You may have to configure CCS to run at startup. If memory serves, Ver 8.12 uses port 3550 for remote view and 5066 for Remote Playback and used a different program. You may want to reconfigure your older systems ports for the newer Remote View Log program.

    IP cam integration

For i-phone to work properly with the Geo iView app, you'll need to upgrade to at least 8.32. Check the Geovision site for IP compatability. Even at 8.32, their IP list is limited mostly to Geo 1.3MP cams.

    IP cam integration

What type of IP cam are you planning to add? If they're Geovision, you can add up to 8 without having to purchase an IP dongle but you may have to upgrade to 8.3X. Check if your board can be upgraded. If you go to 8.4, it's 32 Geo IP cams with no license. Check the Geovision site for supported IP cams for the various versions.

    DVR with Wireless AP

If everything "works perfectly" now and the desktops are using the same router/gateway, access the DVR from the desktops. When you get to the Login screen, right click and select Create Shortcut to put one on their desktop.

    GV1480 upgrade

DO NOT INSTALL OVER AN EXISTING VERSION! Close Geo Multicam program. Go to Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs and remove Geo main system and all related Geo programs listed. Make sure you close Control Center Server before you start or you may run into errors. Next, go to Program Files directory and delete the GV 1480 (or whatever folder). Insert your 8.4 DVD and load in the Main System for your board (make sure it's not a clone or it's nothing but problems). All your old settings should still be in the system. Run Database Repair and start the new version. None of your video files should be affected if your OS and Geo system are set up on your C drive and your video storage folder is in the D drive

    GV1480 upgrade

Well.... You know with Geovision. Have upgraded some 650A, 1120A, 1240A systems from 8.32 and 8.34 to 8.4 without any problems (with the exception of one customer losing iphone capability. Fixed with new GV-Iview app). If your card runs 8.31, you shouldn't have a problem with 8.4 The no license 32 channel with GVIP cams is a nice plus and the On Demand Display option for live view impressed a couple of customers.

    GV1480 upgrade

Prior to 8.4, you can only add 8 GVIP cameras without a dongle. Anything above, you'll have to purchase the dongle/license. 8.4, You can add any number of GVIP without licenses.

    Geovision Mac/Iphone Help?

Ten second lag time seems a bit high for IPhone viewing on Geovision. Worst my customers have experienced is a couple of seconds with all cameras showing and using a DSL setup on the Geo server with only 512K upload speed. As for the Mac, without ActiveX support you're out of luck. You can setup and use Quicktime to view Geo on a Mac. Not the most elegant but it works.
  12. Personally, I would configure the DVR, computer and Linksys router as a separate network to avoid any possible conflicts with the Belkin. Disconnect the Linksys from the Belkin and do a factory reset on the Linksys. This will change your Linksys router to 192.168.1.1 (default). Change your PC's IP address from 192.168.2.6 to 192.168.1.6 and the default gateway and DNS Server to 192.168.1.1 Remember to do either a Disable/Enable or Repair on your local area connection after making the changes. Configure your DVR's network IP address to 192.168.1.21. Disable the DHCP and set to static. Change the Gateway and DNS Server to 192.168.1.1 Connect your PC to any Linksys LAN port and access the setup page. You can leave all the default settings as is except for Port Forwarding. Go to the Applications and Gaming Tab and select Port Forwarding. Enter any name you want for the applications. Starting and Ending port will be 8080, TCP to 192.168.1.21. Check Enable. Same for the RTSP port. Start and End will be 554, leave as Both to 192.168.1.21. Check Enable. Remember to save your settings at the bottom of the page. Power down your PC, DVR and Linksys router. Connect your CAT5 from the Ethernet Port of the Linksys to any open LAN port on the Belkin. Your PC and DVR connect to any LAN port of the Linksys. Power up the Linksys and after is stabilizes, power up the PC and DVR. Check that you have internet access from your PC. If so, you should be good to go. You should also be able to access your DVR with it's DDNS name.

    Upgrading GeoVision system

No cost for up to 8 Geovision IP cameras. If you use another brand, you'll have to purchase the proper USB dongle. As for a Gigabit switch, not needed for only 8 cameras. 100Mbps is sufficient. Haven't seen any IP cams that require 10Mbps each, yet and if your cams are within 100 meters get the PoE type.

    gv-800 8.3 desperatly need help

Quick check. Go to Configure > Tools > Video Signal Diagnostics and disable the Video Signal Weak Watchdog. Go to the far left icon and restart Geovision using last settings. See if you get any signal at all from this camera. Probably be on the noisy side.

    geohttpsrv???????????????

What version Geo software are you running? If it's prior to 8.3, you have to ensure the TCP Server is running (checked) under Networks. Early versions used TCP Server (port 3550) for Remote View. The Webserver handles all in Versions 8.3 and above.

    cctv camera

With Geovision, just set up a video storage folder to the drive and specify what cameras to record there. Without a DVR, use a Mobotix camera to record directly to it.

    Why can't I?

For your home networked computer, you just type in the LAN address i.e. http://192.168.1.XXX or whatever static IP you assigned to your server. Have any changes been made to your local network? Router? ISP? Your server's DNS Client must be updating successfully if you can access with Multiview and SimpleView, remotely.

    Why can't I?

If you can access the server using the dipmap (or dyndns, if that's what you're using) address with Multiview there shouldn't be a reason that Live View won't work with the same address. It should take you right to the Login screen.
  19. Harrar

    Why can't I?

Running Win7 with IE8? Try adding your server's IP address to Trusted Sites under Internet Options than restart your browser. You should at least get to the Login Screen and then be able to download the required Geo Active X (may have to disable UAC first) files into your new computer to view the cams.

GV-1480 to record more than 7 days?

It sounds like the new drive is not configured properly into the Geovision system. What version are you running? Did you add the 1.5TB drive or replace your 320GB? If you added the 1.5TB does it show under the Geovision Video Log Storage - Storage Group Folder as Drive E with about 1.4TB available and the cameras are selected for this drive? Has the Video folder and selected Cam folders been created (or moved) on the new drive? Did you run the database repair utility? We've added additional storge for a bunch of our customers without problems after some initial configuration errors on our part, so I'm really curious what the final resolution to your problem is.
  21. Google ipcamviewer. Robert Chou developed this droid app that works fine with any IP cam and a bunch of DVRs. Works great with Geovision and DWG but don't know about your Samsung. A bit of a pain initially setting it up with DVRs as you have to configure each camera channel individually and save. Once done though, you call up your shortcut and all the cameras pop up.

GV-1480 to record more than 7 days?

Just curious... Is this a new install or an existing system? How many cameras do you have on this system? What types of cameras; analog?, megapixel IP's? Are you recording at 320x240 or 720x480? What compression are you using? How big is your video folder partion? How many days are recorded in each cam's folder? If possible, you may want to try setting some to motion detect and see if it helps your situation.

    Central Mgmt system

Rory is correct. As long as CenterView or Control Center is at the same version or greater than your DVR's you shouldn't have a problem. If you're having a problem with Centerview and you have 5 DVR's or less, load in unlicensed version 8.3.4 from your Geo DVD.
  24. Possible Grandstream may have made some changes to their firmware that affects the display. The last time I upgraded was 11 months ago when they were installed. The firmware version I'm using is 1.0.3.X series.

    MultiCast - How To Use

Never tried setting up wireless multicast on a Geovision before. Sounds like it could be a configuration setting in your wireless AP's or the multicast broadcast, in addition to normal wireless activity is flooding the wireless. Any complaints about slow network operation when you fire up the multicast? Are you using 802.11b/g/h?
