Any help is greatly appreciated. I guess I need an 8-channel POE switch. How many watts do I need for each cameras? I am confused as I see some switches offers 15.4w for 4 ports and 7.5w for 8 ports. If I wish to use 5-6 cameras will the 7.5w be enough power I will be using Dahua 2mp IR mini dome 1080p cameras and 1.3 IR 720p bullet cameras -
Hi, Which POE switch do you guys recommend? I am looking to power 5 Dahua mini dome IR cameras. I will be using this with the Dahua 16 Channel non POE NVR unit.

I was reading reviews on different cameras from Networkcameracritics.com and noticed that each different brand IP camera has its own software? The Axis and Dahua camera both has there own web interface to control the camera settings. If I was to use those cameras with a 16 channel Dahua NVR system will I be using the software from the NVR unit to control each cameras?

So how does that camera I linked work in low lighting situation? Are there samples of night time video?

What are you thoughts on this Dahua NVR unit from eBay? I know many users here on the forum does not recommend purchasing the units from ebay and Dahua will not suppor the hardware as well. But what if I don't require the support? Can I find firmwares updates else where without having to go through Dahua's support? http://www.ebay.com/itm/16-Channel-CCTV-H-264-IP-Surveillance-Security-Camera-NVR-ONVIF-Compliant-/160803015093?pt=US_Surveillance_Security_Systems&hash=item25709b49b5

Hi, For a standard Dauha 16 channel NVR system. Does it matter if I use Cat 5 or Cat 6 cables to use with the 3mp, 1080p cameras? -Are there specific types of ethernet cables for outdoor use?

I am on the same budget as well. What do you guys recommend for $1000 for a NVR setup? -
Would you recommend using wireless cameras for a home NVR system? Also, do you trust the vendors that sells the NVR systems on eBay?

Which DVR 8 channel system would you recommend? All of my personal computers are Mac / Apple. I need a good DVR that is Apple, iphone, ipad compatible where I can view it from anywhere.
