  1. The shop I work for was using avigilon. We were purchasing through a middle man distribution and I guess avigilon went through this big re-structuring and stopped going through this chain of distribution. I guess my shop couldn't promise the numbers to be a full on distributor.
  2. There are several good brands. Of course you will need to do some homework to keep in budget. Avigilon, as seen in ak357's signature is a top notch brand. I used some geovision cameras and have plans to use more. I find them to be good bang for the buck. There is also Axis which is very highly rated. I'm currently working with iq invision cameras and video insight nvrs. There's stuff I like but in some ways I miss avigilon. As ak357 said, make sure to have 2 NICs per nvr, that way one goes to the Poe switch for the cameras and the other to the facility network. Good luck
  3. I'm finishing up a job right now that has two Video Insight NVRs each supporting 62 cameras. And it's all on the facilities infrastructure. The cameras are a mixture of 3 & 5 MP I really like to have it as its own separate network but I had no say on this one but it is a robust network with fiber backbone between idfs and mdf. Ethernet limit is 333 feet. I had a camera at one job that was maybe close to this limit but not quite and it continuously dropped out. A mid span injector did the trick.
  4. I've only installed one eyemax and it was a factory built 32 channel but I did some googling and it looks like you can purchase eyemax dvr cards. I saw some 4 channel and 16 channel ones. And you can download the server and client software.
  5. you can use a wireless bridge like this http://reviews.cnet.com/wireless-access-points/asus-wl-330ge-wireless/4505-3265_7-32744965.html

    mp camera w/ bnc output

The hikvision value series cameras have bnc composite outputs on them. http://www.hikvision.com/en/us/products.asp?cid=50008 they are 1.3MP in both dome and bullet. I'm not sure on price but I believe Hikvision is lower price range, especially, the value series. I just did a job with 80 or so IQInvision Alliance Pros. They have rca composite video outputs on them but the composite jack is for aiming only, as the dome cover can't be installed while the jack is being used. besides, they're in the $500+ range
  7. I definitely agree with toss. I'm cheap and I love to pull out my solder iron to repair what I can (I repair classic arcades for fun and extra money) but trying to repair a burnt camera may not be worth it. I'd replace it with something comparable. is it a ptz or fixed? analog i assume?
  8. Just looking to see who here has experience with ICRealtime products. I'm mostly interested in the ip cams and nvr. I'm thinking for affordable ip cams in residential and small businesses. I hear a lot about Dahuas here but the icrealtime seems to be the same exact cameras by a different name. Maybe the dahuas are cheaper cost? Any thoughts?
  9. Who is the Dahua OEM distributor that you use? It seems like most places selling Dahua that I'm seeing are overseas or carry a very limited line
  10. Great, thanks. As an installer, I'd rather have the support provided by icrealtime. I'm also a bit hesitant to buy from some of the sources that I see selling dahuas. A few months ago, I set up to be a distributor for icrealtime but I only did so because if one small job I was looking at and the customer already had that product as well as their software which doesn't support other brand cameras. I think I'm gonna move forward with some icrealtime products. Thanks

Best way to run VGA cable

for remote Ir, you can simply use little wireless one like these if you didn't want to do any more cables. http://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-109194-Wireless-Extender-328-Feet/dp/B0087S9CJ2/ref=lp_11039361_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1378130522&sr=1-15 or you can use something cleaner like this: http://sewelldirect.com/IR-Kit-3.asp

    greetings from mukilteo wa

Hello and welcome. I'm sure you'll find the help you need here. If you haven't already, post your issues in the appropriate area. Make sure to list the dvr brand and model as well as the router brand and model. A couple things to be aware of. The dvr may have 3 or ports that need forwarding. Typically port 80 and then a couple of others. Depending on the router, you may have to forward each port as TCP and UDP otherwise some routers have a both selection. Some DVRs say that they can auto setup the port forwarding for you (such as lorex) but I find this to not always work right. As far as port 80 goes, some cable companies actually block it and you may have to change the web port to something like 85 and the forward that. For the ddns, after setting up an account, you will also need to set it up in the dvr and register it. Good luck.

    2mp IP ptz over wifi

Hello, I'm late to the party but just wanna say, nice job. The pic from the camera looks great and nice job on using the wifi bridge. I've used wireless bridges on school campuses for still cameras with good results but never further than 100 feet or so. How has it held up over time so far?
  15. it may not fit exactly what you're looking for but Geovision has the GV-REALY V2 which is a relay board for use with GV ip cams

    Hello again

Hi Everyone, I joined the forum a few months ago and haven't been in a while. I'm in CT. I work for an integrated systems company. I also run a side business doing security, cctv AV, etc. Most recently, I've been working with IQInvision cameras and Videoinsight software. I've also worked with Avigilon, Geovision for IP and a number of different analog cameras and DVRs.
  17. There are many choices to go with. Your best bet is to look at the many manufacturer websites and get a good feel for what's out there that may suit your needs. What kind of budget do you have in mind? There are a lot of choices for 1.3MP and 2MP cameras. You can also find a good deal of 3, 4 and 5 mega pixel cameras and more. How many sites are you looking to cover? Most all cameras have remote viewing capabilities through smart phones and web browsers. Many of them include free nvr software. You are best trying to keep with one manufacturer because the nvr software will usually just cover their cameras or you will need to purchase licenses for others. Some brands to research are: Axis (well liked by most, a little more costly than others) Avigilon Vivotek ACTi Geovision (I just priced out a job with these as they are priced decent for the features) Brickcom Mobotix (expensive but supposedly very good) Samsung Panasonic Arecont Vision (they have a few different multi lens 180 and 360 degree models) Some of features you may wanna look for are Varifocal lenses and Wide Dynamic Range (WDR)
  18. Great information Less, Thanks for passing these things on.
  19. Well it's good hearing some positive reviews on this setup. I'm gonna get the power line adapters first and go test at the customers place. The camera will actually be on a detached barn on the property which is powered with a sub panel.
  20. I was talking to a potential customer the other day. At his house he has one icrealtime camera and wants to add another. He uses icrss for viewing. I'm having a hard time finding who sells icrealtime cameras. The sites I do find that have them look kinda shifty. According to icrealtime, only their cameras are compatible with the icrss. Some say they are rebranded Chinese cameras like Dahua but I'm not really sure about that.
  21. Tech support at icrealtime says no but I'm not sure how reliable that answer really is. Their product definitely looks to be rebranded Dahua stuff but I know rebranded stuff can still have some differences such as software comparability. They are definitely more than just a distributor of Dahua. Icrss does look like pss to a point but has some differences. It's also not free like pss, it costs $30
  22. I understand that pss is free but currently the customer is using Icrss and he doesn't want to change that. Does anyone know if the Dahua camera will work in ICRSS?
  23. I'm just not sure if they will be compatible with ICRSS. I know the popular opinion here is that icrealtime is just rebranded Dahua and that ICRSS is just PSS but has anyone here actually proved that and used it this way? I know this is a simple little add on but I don't want to get parts that won't work with what the customer already has.
  24. Thanks for the responses guys. I was on their site and I saw the dealer sign up. I'll give that a shot.
  25. Yeah I emailed geovision about a month ago and they got right back to me the next day but the last time I emailed them, they never got back to me.
