Yeah I emailed geovision about a month ago and they got right back to me the next day but the last time I emailed them, they never got back to me.

my shop started selling Avigilon a few years ago and it was really my first experience with ip cctv. I found the equipment and software to be pretty easy. I will say that Avigilon doesn't seem to have a lot of the features that other manufacturers have. I have had great experiences with Avigilons tech support. They have always been very helpful. Avigilon went through a major restructuring I believe and in that they changed how they distribute. the rep we were getting them through lost the line and now on our latest job we're pushing IQ Invision.

Visualspirit brings up excellent points and I agree. I was impressed at first with the HDSDI option because it allows you to run higher res cameras on coax. But like visualspirit said, it's a temporary fix. It's like a band aid until ip prices come down a little more and they have come down a great deal already

Hi everyone, I've got a side job going on that I'm currently planning out and attempting to come up with the equipment for. Its a sheet metal shop that currently has 2 old cisco wireless pan tilt cameras indoors and nothing else. These Cisco cams may later be swapped out also. The customer wants to add an indoor ptz to cover the employee entrance and a shop area, an outdoor ptz to cover the lot and loading dock and a fixed outdoor to cover the driveway. I'm not new to this as I do work in the field but my main experience with IP cameras has been Avigilon (and soon I will be working IQ Invision on a 125 camera project) I'm trying to keep a nice balance between cost and features/reliabilty. I'm kinda liking the Geovision GV-SD220 (INDOOR) and GV-SD220-S (OUTDOOR) Speed Domes. I'm liking that these speed domes have WDR especially with the employee entrance into a darker room. I'm also wondering about software for viewing and recording without an expensive server. I would love to hear some opinions, especially from anyone who has used geovision cameras. I also haven't ruled out Vivotek or even Arecont Vision 360 degree cameras

But geovision comes with its own software for free ACC is good and easy to use but I'm in no way married to it and I'd like to try others.

I've been leaning toward the Geovision gv-sd200s for a site because its got a decent spec and price But it looks like maybe the 8211 will cheaper by about $300

If your wanting to power your analog cameras up with Poe you would need to convert that Poe voltage. Your analog cameras probably take 12vdc power ( and possibly 24vac) Poe is 44vdc-57vdc. Are these cameras currently wired back from each camera to your PC. Off the top of my head I'd say you best bet is either Siamese cable from your head end with the power conductors going to plug in 12vdc transformers and the bnc end going to an analog to ip CCTV encoder. Or you can run cat5 (or6) and use baluns. Either way your still gonna need the encoder.

You can't use an analog camera as a network camera. You will need encoders. I know Avigilon has an encoder that takes 4 analog cameras to network but I believe it has to be used with their software

With the avigilon encoders I have used, each one has 4 BNCs on them and then the network/ Poe and power connections on the back. You will need one unit per 4 cameras.

I just picked up an install for a residential cctv system. like a dope I put the too low price of $2k on the install with 5 cameras and an 8 channel dvr. My original plan was to go with a Honeywell HRG85 and 5 Honeywell HD31 Rugged Balls or HD75 Bullets (or a combo of the 2) Now today Im thinking about maybe going with a Dahua DH-NVR3208 NVR and 5 Dahua 1.3MP 3.6mm Bullets from www.hdsecuritystore.com but im not sure. This equipment will run a little bit more so I will make a little less, but I'd like to start pushing the MP IP stuff. Of course on later jobs, I will build it into the price. I guess I could even get the q-see cameras by the pair from Costco and save a little. I'm just a little concerned because even though the dahua stuff (and the q-see because its Dahua branded) gets good reviews around here, I have seen some issues posted that got me worried about this equipment. Also I'm unsure of hdsecuritystore's rep, Anyone know if they're trusted. How is the Dahua nvr for remote capabilities?

hello, I'm new here. this definitely seems like the best cctv forum I've come across. I work for an engineered systems company doing commercial fire alarm, access/intrusion, intercom, sound and cctv. we generally work on the headend equipment where electricians pull the cables and he setup and terminate. I've dealt with a few different products over the years including Ge/Kalatel, digital watchdog, honeywell and most recently I've been working with Avigilon IP cameras. I have a job coming up with 123 IQ Invision IP cameras, that should be interesting I'm also currently working on getting a small llc setup to do residential and small commercial security, cctv and audio/video.
