  1. I only have the "Lite" version. Does the paid version allow you to view recordings?
  2. I tried this last night on my iPhone while home (with Wi-Fi turned off). I viewed the recorded video from my P3367 using a weak LTE signal. The picture was fine. There was no difference between the top half and the lower half. However, the video did lag. I would say that I see one second of video for every two seconds of real time. At worst, one second of video every three seconds. I would say it lagged about 75% of the time that I was watching the recorded video. I don't think it is due to my ability to "send' the video as I can watch recorded video from work (using ACC) without any lag.
  3. Thanks to your troubles, there is no way I am going to click on record through the app. I don't mean to be a jerk by saying that, I appreciate you sharing your experience. I'm just not going to risk it. Yes, I am (largely) on LTE. I used this app some more over the weekend without any issues. It hasn't crashed on me. I tethered my iPad to my iPhone and it worked well. Also, I noticed a software update was posted this morning. Hopefully they continue to update and improve it.
  4. I had all sorts of issues getting this app to run on my iPhone and iPad. The issues were, however, 100% my fault. I didn't have ACC set up correctly via the local PC. I also forgot my password.... Once that was all corrected, I was able to get this app up and running. Maybe my expectations were tempered by tome's post below, but I am quite happy with the app. I like the UI much more than the one from IP Camera. It very much reminds me of ACC. I have been able to take shap shots without any issues. I agree that watching recorded video is not the smoothest of things, but I don't know whether that is an issue with the app. or network/internet speed and connections. If I wanted to view recorded video, I would certainly prefer to use a PC over any app on an iPhone or iPad. However, if there is no option to use a PC, this app at least gives you the ability to view recorded video. I have not tried to record video via the app. From tome's experience, I am not sure I want to try. The app has not crashed for me at all. I have it installed on both my iPad and my iPhone (which is a 5). Perhaps the jump in processor speed from the 4S to the 5 explains at least some of the differences in experience. Since I got it running correctly, I have found myself using this app over IP Cam. $9 might be a bit high for what everyone likes to pay for apps. However, that's not much compared to what these cameras and other hardware cost.
  5. That's great, but they have a more fundamental problem. They had better improve the motion sensing otherwise my camera will be tracking the sun moving behind clouds, lightning flashes, cars lights out of frame at night, and several other non-motion events. That was one of the issues with my cameras. I used Axis Camera Companion to setup the areas that I wanted to include or exclude. As you may know, the other option is through the settings in the web-browser access to the camera. There are pro's and con's for both. From what I understand, the algorithm within ACC is much better. The bad thing is that there is no ability to increase/decrease sensitivity. I was told that they are currently working on a new version of the software that will add the ability to tweak various settings like sensitivity. In other words, it will give you more control over what is recorded.
  6. that's pretty cool. is it in a PTZ? if not how's it tracking. They doing like mobotix? Wish I could get my 3367 to focus 1/2 as good as that. Mine looks like crap As I understand it, it's a digital PTZ. The P3367 does not have a motor to do a true PTZ. You should call Axis' tech support regarding your focus issues. I was having some issues recently and they remoted into my computer and reviewed the settings in the "Setup" screen of the browser access to the camera. The rep. noted that I need to update my Axis Camera Companion and also led me through updating the firmware. I have been very impressed by their customer service!
  7. Tommy - Check out this YouTube video of a new digital autotracking feature for the P3367. I called Axis and it has limited availability for Beta testing. They said it should be released in a few months. In any event, it's a really cool feature.
  8. I just started to use the free version of IP Camera. I was thinking about paying for the full version, but was more intrigued by this app. I just bought it and downloaded it, but I can't remember my password. Ugh! I'll get it setup tonight and will try it out.
  9. What value does that app add to ACC. I don't believe you can look at recordings. ACC doesn't run on either iOS or Andriod devices, correct? The value is that you can access ACC via your iPhone, iPad, etc. The OP was asking about being able to Live View his camera. Maybe I'm confused....
  10. You are right, I didn't understand. Yes, when the issue happens I have been unable to log into that camera both from home and from a remote location (i.e. Work). That happened a couple of times this week - I couldn't view the camera from work (and from my iPhone via cellular). And, when I got home, I couldn't access the camera from there either. I was only able to access the camera after I cycled it by unplugging the PoE switch.
  11. I believe the answer to that question is that it has never been done. I am the only one who views the cameras. My wife doesn't know how. I could test out the idea. I could either "remote" in through work or maybe just through my cell phone. Thanks!
  12. Really?? That's counter productive for an installer. Why the heck would they force you to do that? Axis includes a 5M cable with the grommet already on it.
  13. I'm not certain I know what the problem is, although I was wondering if it is a power issue with the switch. I will do what you suggested above and see what I learn. Thanks, I do appreciate it
  14. I also doubt that it is an IP address conflict. For one, I have DHCP reservations for the two cameras. I will, however, cycle everything just to clear that up. Ugh! Having just bought a third camera, I'm not anxious to buy a new PoE. Hate to say it, but I'm also not anxious to buy another XyXEL.
  15. Axis includes an ethernet cable with RJ45 plugs on both ends and the grommet in the middle. When I installed mine, I just used a coupler. Is the goal to not use couplers?
  16. Interesting. The cameras are set to only record on motion detection and they save to a NAS. The one that was giving me issues yesterday was not set to send me email messages/images. From Noon through Midnight yesterday, that camera made 12 recordings. Eight of the recordings were for zero seconds - the "Duration" shows 00:00:00. There are three recordings that are 1 second (00:00:01) and one recording was longer. I need to tweak my settings in order to record less often. Aside from that, the zero duration recordings are disconcerting.
  17. Seems to be a power issue. How long are your cables? Anything else plugged into the other available PoE ports? The cables are somewhere around 25 or 50 feet. They are Monoprice cables (I didn't put on the connectors). There is nothing else plugged into the other PoE ports. To the extent it matters, I am only using two of the non-PoE ports.
  18. Much to my surprise, the camera arrived yesterday afternoon. Shipping was $10 and I received it the next day. Pretty nice! I'll try to get it installed this weekend.
  19. http://www.a1securitycameras.com/Axton-AT-7-90-850-Axton-IR-Illuminator.html Thanks!
  20. Do you recall which one you bought?
  21. I'm fairly certain that you were the one who previously suggested that good deals can be found if you are patient. That's how I have picked up my cameras - watching prices go up and down and buying on the low side. The prices jump all over the place, even by the same seller(s) on Ebay, Amazon, etc. - by hundreds of dollars. I ended up ordering a P3367-VE for $1,100. Probably won't have it until next week, so I'll install it the following weekend. My plan is to install it at the current location of Cam 1 (on the drawing). I'll move the current Cam 1 to Cam 4 and see how it works zoomed in closer to the front door. Depending on how that works, I may move it again to the backyard and buy a 12mm for the front door. That said, I really hope that I can leave the mounting bracket in place and just move the rest of the camera/dome.
  22. Are you trying to avoid using Internet Explorer?
  23. Generally speaking, the lower resolution cameras have traditionally offered better low light performance. Also, traditionally, Axis cams cost quite a bit less than Avigilon, especially if he doesn't want to spend the $$ on an Avigilon software license for his existing Axis setup. I originally chose Axis for various reasons, one of which was that I am using my Synology as my recorder. Synology has a list of compatible cameras and while Axis is on the list, Avigilon is not. Since I decided to do the install myself, I tried to narrow down the possibilities that I would have problems. With how I am now using my Axis cameras (not through the Synology software, but just using the Synology as a storage location), I don't think it would matter if I had Axis or Avigilon. However, there are indications - unfortunately for a while now - that Synology will update their Surveillance Station software. If that happens, I am quite interested. I certainly like that it is an option. So, in the end, I may have spent a few extra bucks on Axis, but I saved a lot by doing it myself, while trying to reduce the chances of headaches and/or failure. I posted in another thread about my parent's experience in having a system installed. They hired a guy who was in the business for about ten years. It didn't go well, and it was largely because of the guy that they hired. All of that was in the back of my head while planning this out. I hope that make some sense.
  24. It's certainly an option. However, I am trying to just stay with one manufacturer. It may not be all that wise of a decision, but I think I am best off just learning how to use one manufacturer. If I had a professional installer, I probably wouldn't care as much.
