Hello everyone, I have a few questons about both of my Zmodo DVR's The first one have a ground loop issue I believe. But I am not sure how it started. Its a 16 channel system and recently 1 channel at a time I get the black lines moving left to right.. Now's its on 6 of the channels. I have a aftermarket power distribution box that I bought and thats what powers it, not the dc adapter that came with the dvr to begin with. The issue has been around for a while now, but its getting much worse as its starting to brighten and dim constantly on those 6 channels. When I turn off power to the distribution box, all the cameras are "off", but those 6 channels still have the red "R" for record. I believe this is a ground loop issue, but would like your thoughts. Second DVR. Zmodo, and its stuttering in live video on my monitor. What I mean is when a car drives by, it appears as if the car is pausing for a brief micro second and continues. Usually a restart fixes this, but not lately. I also reformatted the hard drive with no luck.. Any help would be nice. Thanks. Bryan

Hello everyone, I was standing next to my tower, and I heard what sounded like a bird chirping. I got out my stethoscope and isolated it to a cooling fan inside my zmodo DVR. I unhooked everything and wrote down the part number, but I am not finding any replacements except a few international stores that make you guy 12ea. Here below is the specs. Does anyone know where I can get a few? DVR, Zmodo Fan Fonsoning Model # FSY40S12M DC 12V 0.08A Brushless Dimensions are 40mm x 40mm and thickness is 10.50mm. Thanks, Bryan

When you say edited, you mean if I take a 45 sec clip form a hour long block? Bryan Are you sure there is no utility in the software management that can do this? Can you search footage by time, rather than file? Does your dvr have software besides just a web interface? Usually CMS type software has more ability than just web interfaces- some even having clip edit built in. So if editing short clips from large files is what you need, make sure you absolutely don't have anything available right in your system software. I have called up zmodo many times asking about different issues, and I always ask if there is a video editing software available. They say no, and they "never heard of that". Its weird. Yea, I jut want something real simple to clip video and then add all the clips I want together.. That's all.

I looked on ebay and on downlaods.net.. This software is rather expensive. Like $400 plus.. Is there anything else out there? Or was I looking at the wrong stuff? Bryan

You will probably think I'm crazy, but I bought a Netrome setup years ago and when I upgraded to Zmodo, I kept the old cameras in place as I found they had waaaaaaaay more viewing angle. The zmodo cameras would only view about 30% at the same location as the Netrome. So I now have 20 netrome cameras along the side of my building. IMO They are a better quality. I can even take then apart to waterproof them. But thats the reason I don't get cameras with Mics in them. Bryan

Hello, Hopefully this is the correct place for this post... Is there a software out there that will let me edit DVR video? I have a Zmodo brand DVR and when I download it to my PC, I have to use the AVI Generator to convert it. How ever, when I try to edit it in Windows Movie Maker, it doesn't recognize it. Also, is there any software that will let me FF 16x? Window Media Player only goes 2x.. Thanks in advance, Bryan

Yes, the DVR is up to date as I had asked Zmodo already. Bryan

Hello everyone, I'm Bryan and new here. Last October I purchased a Zmodo PKD-DK1656-1TB DVR system. I am having nothing but trouble with this dvr. I also have a Netrome 4 channel that has run flawlessly for 5 years without any problems. FYI. Some of the issues with the Zmodo are 1 Randomly stop recording, 2 Randomly Turn Off and On. 3 Freeze where you have to reboot to get the remote or face buttons to work. Randomly wont let you view recorded footage. When watching video, when you fast forward, it will only let you do it for a matter of minutes then 1 or 2 cameras will go black, then a few more, then all of them and it stops fast forwarding and playback. I first thought that I didn't have enough HD space.. So I went to Best Buy and bought a 1TB HD. So now the system has 2 TB total. I have called and complained to Zmodo many times and never get any where with them. So I have 2 basic questions. First what company do you recemend for DVR's and does anybody know how to transfer and entire days worth of footage from the DVR to a USB? I read and did exactly what the book tells me to do, but when I get to the files, it only has minutes of each camera at random. In my camera settings, I have them set to record constantly 24/7/365. And I can watch a entire days worth so I know the footage is there, but it wont let me transfer it over. I am very tired of this and would like to get another brand. Appreciate any and all help. Bryan
