'GeoCodeRege.exe' won't run on any PC I have

The Geo codecs can be a big PITA to deal with, compared to other DVRs these days that use generic H.264. If you have codec packs installed for example, you may run into problems playing it. Windows Media Player WILL NOT play Geo AVI files without the codec first being installed. And then as mentioned, if you have codec packs or other codec issues, it wont always play, or might but with lower quality or require configuration of the codecs. VLC will play GeoVision files, but upside down. Best method for evidence sharing with Geovision is to use the backup feature and include the player. Ofcourse still need the Codecs to register. On XP should be no issue at all, make sure you are an ADMIN. On windows 7, right click on the EXE, Select Compatibility, and set it to XP SP3. Also, check my site under GeoVision software for other options that might help.

    TVL or something else

at least in D1. Try 640x480 or less to maybe get rid of it. in D1 the DVR may be cropping it to 704x480 or the chip itself may do that. Either way, I see it all the time, varies between different chips and different DVRs.

    TVL or something else

Its normal to have black borders from certain cameras on certain DVRs.
  4. I dont claim to be anything I am not. There are far more others that have been through ALOT more than I have. Just telling it like it is, since you asked.
  5. It's historical facts, most took place more than 10 years ago. Since then I have been more cautious, although I still travel alot at night - no traffic - plus Ive been dealing with night club video for 10 years and there has been one murder after the next that I had to deal with (gangsta clubs). Axe attack was the 2nd week I got my jeep, which was in April 2001. 2 crackheads came up to me at a chicken shack asking for $1, I ignored them, then they attacked first saying they just got out of prison and dont care if they went back. I fought them off all the way up the road, even through a bus that stopped scared, the driver running away from the scene. Ended up just outside the government house (btw with an armed sleeping local army), they eventually grabbed the keys I dropped and stole the jeep - 1 axe was recovered as evidence. They were captured within 2 days and got 17 months max in prison (yeah for attempted murder and grand theft auto). They allegedly asked to be sent to the local mental prison due to their crack addiction but were told it was full - likely they got out early and robbed or killed someone else, or got killed themself. 1st kidnapping was when I was 18, ended up just being robbed and left on some back road, happened along with my friend at the time, and a french tourist - they kidnapped us from the Paradise Island Bridge. 2nd kidnapping was more recent (12 years ago approx), I jumped from the fast moving car as they said they were "killing a white boy tonight", it was emancipation night (a national holiday here). Both knees were bust wide open from the jump. Then they preceded to turn around and run me down 3 times with their car. I got away and searched for them for 1 year - never actually found them. By now they are likely dead though. The rest happened here and there, all part of the life of not locking yourself inside your appt and throwing away the key. Ive been attacked just standing outside a gas station talking to the manager - pushed the attacker to the ground then went inside due to incoming attacks from his other thug friends, and locked the door, called the cops but they never turned up (actually that was just a year or so ago). We have to defend ourselves, cant rely on the cops to be everywhere. Guns would be helpful though, otherwise a machete and steel stick and whatever else we can get our hands on ... will have to do. Illegal guns get you a heavy prison sentence here. I lived in Long Island New York by the way, its night and day compared to here. I also used to travel in the City alot on my motorbike.

  8. I see free software with ads taking over ... if it hasnt already the US economy meltdown due to credit will only get worse eventually people will stop their blatent use of credit cards so paid software will die as microsoft's OS gets worse and worse (eg win8 tablet OS), that will go a different direction eventually microsoft will loose the market and a free OS will take over the Mac OS will be a thing of the past way before microsoft is mac will be selling hardware for any OS .. to compete eventually we will be using DOS again as the new OS needs a faster and faster computer and due to economy issues people just wont be able to afford the new 32 core computers needed for those OS ... we will eventually be back to using the typewriter ... sorry if i skipped a few dozen decades
  9. Not everywhere has working 4g, not even in North America And most still wont trust their data to the "cloud" Also recall CCTV = Close Circuit Television - not wireless Although this thread is not about CCTV but rather DVR cards and software, so you could be right.
  10. Well ... i've been kidnapped twice, attacked with home made axes by crackheads, ran over by a car in one attack, not to mention gang attacks, botched knife attacks, machine gun attacks, attempted car jackings (they lay down large rocks as home made road blocks, cops take a while to respond), had my life threatened more times than I can count. In fact just last night had rocks thrown at my truck while driving just 100 feet from a police station, on the way to the food store - but that said I still never back down, when one does that they show weakness, and then its all over. In the end, if the criminals really want to get us they will, and due to the pathetic gun laws here (probably much like in the UK and Australia) there isnt much we can really do about it - besides be very cautious - which some might consider being paranoid.
  11. Anyone know if this is a bug, or think they deliberately left it out? Sucks because now the user has to remember what IP is for what DVR. A few steps forward, a few dozen steps back!!
  12. This is the HF-A, with HDMI and Full 30fps D1 every channel.
  13. I cant speak for that link at all, its Hong Kong, home of Pirated DVRs, Pirated DVDs, and Pirated Software. For all we know they could be selling you an empty metal box. I can only speak for models listed here http://www.bahamassecurity.com/downloads/dahua-downloads.asp or here http://www.dahuasecurity.com/product.aspx?p=cpyzc&p_kind=3&c_kind=262&c_kind3= Regarding the HF-A I have not used it, but should have one here soon to test. It should be a nice slim line model, but have not got pricing yet.

  15. ok now that really is asking a little too much
  16. It really depends on what activeX it is, the webpage HTML/Script, and what IE version you have .. as well as by adding it to the trusted list it disables all security for that site - so it has nothing to do with Windows 7 at all. Some need compatibility enabled as well, for IE8/9, again regardless of the OS.

Thanks for your efforts but I am not about to spend time installing a 3rd party player for that - I am the potential client. I dont need to see every pixel, just get a general idea, and also the low lighting abilities. Why do you think we even use Youtube at all to demo video to clients, sure its not full quality but it is quick and the user doesnt have to install anything (could optionally use divx though for HD) - I have little patience, its gotta be quick to view or I dont even give it a 2nd thought, the same goes for my clients - our time is money too.
  22. 1-way video out with the composite video is fine, or loop out if the DVR model has that - it's when you do multiview it becomes a softer picture even at short distances, and thats where the VGA is much better quality. Also every LCD is different, some the video looks fine on, some it just sucks on, and if you have Cable TV connected to the LCD TV there can also be issues with rolling lines depending on the location. I use a CCTV CRT for example and the quality is fine, although its not a 40" TV. So for home uses it is generally best to use the VGA if you can to avoid any potential issues.

DVR Mouse Operation thru IP KVM

thats for a pc ..... so network out of pc to ip KVM that works. he is looking for VGA to ip KVM then out to network. you cant send vga video without it being compressed. Tom... look at the photos of this device: http://ca.startech.com/Server-Management/KVM-Switches/4-Port-USB-VGA-IP-KVM-Switch-with-Virtual-Media~SV441DUSBI Tell me how it connects to the network ports of the client PCs to be able to control them while they're still on the BIOS screens. OF COURSE it's compressing the video - nobody said it isn't. I imagine its just capturing the video coming into it? And the bios just sees the mouse and keyboard etc as regular USB. Ive used something similar by HP that was on a rack with a LCD monitor. It can be slow sometimes though and the occasional screen res issue with Geo, but it worked otherwise. It used cat5, I believe it was a network KVM console? my favorite non IP KVM for regular use is the belkin USB - audio, usb etc including printers ... and not expensive.
