I need to see the details of a Black man's face at night.
rory replied to dspevack's topic in Security Cameras
pretty much what its like here. criminals here care less about a camera, they dont even care if they goto prison. murderers getting 2-3 years for cold blooded murder charged as manslaughter. thugs stab people 5 feet in front of a camera and get out on bail in 2 days. witnesses to crimes are simply intimidated, paid off, or killed anyway, so nobody talks. unlike other countries our government doesnt give us the right to bear arms. masks? whats that? dreds is walk right up in front of the camera and smile, then go on a rampage. even inhouse theft, cashiers have cameras all over them and they still steal. If I were the OP, some cameras on the main entrances, areas they know the criminals have come through before, then some wide overview cameras. And spent more money on physical security and alarm system. But to really answer the title of this thread, put alot of light behind the camera, the darker the persons face the more light you need on the face. Even WDR cameras have issues with dark faces, ive had to use BLC instead. -
+1 although its illegal down here Illegal? What the hell? VOIP is literally illegal in the Bahamas? Yes unless its licensed to operate here which Skype etc arent, only the government run Telco is and some other small barely used telco company. Hey, its not illegal here to sell or watch pirated movies, and no law against drinking and driving

Bottom line, if you still want 600TVL BW, add more light or change the bulb, and/or get an Exview 600TVL BW camera. Even then though if the light falls below the minimum lux level of the Exview camera, there would still be noise.

no, just rare on an IR bullet with a fixed lens. The IR would just be a spot in the center as they are generally only 30 degrees. although I havent seen 2.8mm fixed lenses, 2.5 perhaps. These are all M12 Fixed Board lenses by the way. The Varifical are typically M13 (some older ones or non AI ones could be M12 also), while the box cameras would be C or CS mount. And modifying an existing fixed lens IR bullet would be difficult as most are like this: Note the small size of the area where the lens is, a 2.5mm or 2.8mm would be too large. The lens itself isnt rare and is cheap: Eg. first one on this page is a 2.45mm. It looks the same size as the 3.6mm in the images but if you look at the thread you can see they shrunk the 2.45 mm image, it actually is much larger. http://www.ktnc.co.kr/english/viewtopic.php?t=468 Eg: Approximate size comparison

I checked online and the specs say 2.1Lux, or 0.75 lux, which is not very low light either way, so it will be compensating under anything less. I will give an example of KT&C BW Bullets I tested briefly in a night club under dark conditions looking at the dance floor with no lights on the dance floor at all, and just some low powered lights behind the camera. The lux levels are just an example, to give you the idea of how the high res, standard res, and exview chips vary in low light from BW cameras. A-BW 600TVL 0.1 lux B-BW 420TVL 0.05 lux C-BW 600TVL Exview 0.03 lux D-BW 420TVL Exview 0.003 lux Basically © was not as grainy as (B), and was sharper. (A) was the darkest, needs the most light. (D) performed the best though was not quite as sharp. Overall © is a good balance, but the camera is the same price of (D) and twice the price of (B). Summary: (in this case) The lower resolution camera of the same chip type and features will outperform the higher resolution under the same low light condition. Once again, this is just from brief testing and may not be 100% correct, though if you check the specs of a 600TVL BW camera and its 420TVL version, you should see the 420TVL has a lower lux level, and this has been evident in testing. Eg. http://www.ktnc.co.kr/english/viewtopic.php?t=395

Gonna be difficult as I havent seen any, but you can buy your own 2.5mm lens for example, very cheap. But then its not aspherical so blurry on the edges, even if you can live with that, it would be too large for the IR camera whose IR Ring or lens area is designed only for a 3.6mm+

That DVR is made by Dahua. I use the same DVR but its from a different US distributor. I tested the email on motion and it worked for me. Too much motion though so I didnt leave that on for long. I set all my DVRs to a static IP. What exact problems are you having? What email settings were you using? For example, did you use your ISP's SMTP server? What is the DVR's firmware version? I didnt test FTP yet.

What about black women? -
What are the lights/bulbs used? What type of cameras are they?
-
Yes in the DynDns account under the host name it should show the ISP's IP in a box there, It will be the latest updated one, you can click the link for it to update - make sure the router is updating the IP also. Make sure the DDNS is totally cleared in the DVR also.

Thanks. I know its Mpeg4 -
Ignore all that. Disable anything you already did and do the following. Have an email address handy that you can access to activate a service Goto DynDns.com and sign up for a free account using that email address Use the link in the email to activate that new account Login to DynDns.com and add a new host, choose your name, select DVR, checkout, it is free Remember/write down all that information Go into the admin of your router and goto DDNS Select DynDns.org/.com and enter your DynDns user, password and the host name Save etc .. make sure you have port forwarded to the DVR, eg. TCP 37777 and 80, 37778 both/udp Should be good to go Test the connection and port using your new DDNS name: http://www.websitepulse.com/help/gadgets.server-test.html

Beautiful day image, love the forest also Any chance of some night shots? Thanks. -
Simple, it had no IR Cut Filter. If its a day night camera then look for specs of TDN or ICR or Mechanical IR Cut Filter or Removable IR Cut Filter (IR = Infrared). If its color only then its a gamble depending on the price, most color only will have a fixed IR Cut filter, really cheap ones may not though. If its a really cheap day night most times its going to not have an IR Cut filter, we call that a Color IR camera. Some without IR Cut filter do a better job at the colors than others, depends on the DSP. You get what you pay for, basically.

Have you looked at the CNB DVRs?

well going by the manual the software is very similar to the Avermedia for the DVR that both the OP posted and the EB1304 that I have personally used. As for the fps or ips .. figures they are the same. But regardless it says 50ips total depending on resolution, so if the resolution is set t0 highest then it likely wont give you more than 20-30 - AFAIK same as the AVERMEDIA. Note, the "Old" avermedia, so since 2-3 years ago it may have changed. Main menu is very similar:
-
This is from the spec sheet, page 2
-
It does say 50 images Tom. Also going by both user manuals, the software is almost identical http://www.avermedia-usa.com/surveillance/download/OL/300AABLP_Manual_EB1004BAK_EN_V1.0.pdf http://www.monacor.dk/index.php?id=9&jumpurl=uploads%2Ftx_monacordk%2Fmedia%2F1b7877de1ffb784.pdf&juSecure=1&locationData=9%3Att_content%3A57&juHash=2e5e469fc8ffa7623e1dc72da06bc2be398336bd
