  1. Dahua DVRs have desktop software support for; PC, Mac, Nix And they have mobile support for i-Os, Android, Blackberry, Symbian, Win Mobile. Its simple as download, install, use I dont know of any other stand alones at this time that support Mac. Dahua's are sold under various names in the US, one of the more well known ones being Intellicam USA (now Gen IV) Another thread on this same topic: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=24028&start=0

    In a pinch..

Fairly good? Blows away most of the high end DVRs. Ive used a TON of DVRs over the years, and tested alot of software, this has features many dont, even from the big brands. The only thing lacking in the Dahua's are better search features, but maybe Im just picky And oh yeah, MJPEG instead of H.264

    Reset networked password?

We need to the model or brand of the DVR. If you are unsure, post a photo of it or a screenshot of the software.

That Q-See DVR is actually the entry level Dahua DVR. Basically its minus HDMI and Alarm IO, otherwise the same, in fact it is very small compared to their others. Works with PC, Mac, Nix, most mobile devices. You can get all the software for it right from Dahua's website instead of using the older Q-see software.

    Pixim Orca

I dont know about that. Ive used both and the Double Scan produced good WDR results with a better image, but I guess it also depends on the camera used. In the end though BOTH of them have problems with dark faces which can be a real issue down here.

CNB BBM-24F vs. Axis P1344 (with IR)

Looking forward to see what all the fuss is about on the blue-i Whats nice is I also have a Panasonic WDR box camera here ... so will try to put them side by side, as well as use cat5 and see if I can adjust the settings using the DVR's client software (like a ptz) .. wont be able to test until the weekend though .. too busy right now
  10. didnt want to start a new thread for this camera .. old CNB B2760 TDN IR Bullet .. good amount of IR .. blows away the Color IR bullets which barely reach out 20-30 feet in the same car park .. but the picture is blurry in BW .. if focused in BW its blurry in color .. vice versa .. it was a hard camera to adjust and i test these TDN IR Bullets all the time .. discontinued now they have the new monalisa version for less money. Oh yeah, I also removed the IR Cut filter .. cant recall if it was before or after this image: This is pitch dark BTW .. see the IR reaching past the jeep ..

CNB BBM-24F vs. Axis P1344 (with IR)

    I just got a BBM-24F Monalisa and a BBB-34F Blue-i .. will post results after I test.
  12. I just ran a GE TDN PTZ approx 200' powered over 18awg (RG59 Siamese) no problem with 24VAC. You are talking a short distance of what around 40-50 feet? Will be fine. Should find out the current draw though, what model PTZ is it?
  13. What you could do is search down your device in the registry and see if there is a settings section there. For example I have a capture card here and was using AmCap (card removed now), and I have a decoder settings section and that includes saturation etc. You can get the ID from the hardware properties then search in the registry, should be somewhere like this: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{6BDD1FC6-810F-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F} ID will differ based on your hardware.
  14. Have you put the BW camera on channel 1 yet? Switched PCI slots? Run the app as Admin? Run the app in XP Compatibility?

    CCTV general advice

Is it legal for you there to get licence plates on a public road? Anyway, what about putting down a speed bump then zooming a couple cameras in on that, one for either side of the road. Then one or two cameras just for overview.
  16. Have you tried zooming the lens right in on the LCD? Change the lens if you have to.

    Problems with Remote Viewing

On the flip side, one can install IE tabs for Chrome and after installing the activeX first in IE or manually, they can then use the activeX within Chrome.

3 BIG buildings, need a lil help here

You can use UTP cable also, so for example an 8 pair would handle 8 cameras, save running individual cat5 cables.

Is this a good camera for home

@ no12be Simple answer? Nope. The Dome is old technology, and it says it is discontinued. The Box camera is low res, 1/4", and full color which needs alot of light. Although the low res and full color may very well be okay for basic home use, you are better off getting that in a dome or bullet camera instead of a box camera, for home use. High res today is 550TVL/600TVL and even now 700TVL, though it means little in most cases (the total effective pixels is what counts), it at least lets you know its a recent camera and that it should have some other newer updated technology.

  21. Granted I only tested it once on an Ipad, I know for certain it IS H264 as thats what the sub stream is. No idea if its written in Java but its an app that is downloaded from the mac store thing and then installed on the ipad - whatever it is, it works and gives near real time video. I really dont care what a "true iphone app" is defined as anyway, since I really dont care for them to begin with, I prefer to use a desktop OS not a limited mobile OS, and If I did use a mobile OS it wouldnt be mac. I dont understand your other comment, if its meant as an insult, major FAIL. While you watch your measily couple cameras on your tiny little iphone screen, Im watching 64 on my netbook, and from various DVRs and IP cameras all over the world, plus I have 30 browser windows open and also streaming a DVD movie, making flyers, updating my site, and basically controlling the space shuttle. Guess yeah, Im WAY behind the times.

    Pixim Orca

All the ones I used, the image just doesnt look good, like it is digitized, or has artifacts, just didnt like them. Just go up a couple dollars and get a double scan one time.

    Pixim Orca

Ive used a few cameras with the Pixim chip (no idea about Orca) and will never do again.
  24. One example is the Dahua DVR, there is no special port just for the mobile app, but it uses a sub stream instead of the main stream.
