    Streaming JPG images

If you cache it then it probably wont ever show the updated image without a manual page refresh.
  2. They claim they cant as each application is different, so if it performs great where they test it but the user puts it in a different type of application then it doesnt perform as well, guess they are scared they might get sued. There are tons of CNB demos on Youtube though, some I think setup by CNB staff.

Geovision run as a service on Win Server 2003

Agreed the services can differ but essentially it is the same OS, as Server 2003 is built from XP but with server features. Almost identical registry etc. If it runs on XP it should run on Server 2003. At least that is in theory as I have not personally used it, but i wrote software for clients that use it. For trying Geo as a service check this thread viewtopic.php?f=2&t=24270&p=146207#p146207

Geovision run as a service on Win Server 2003

. Please stop suggesting that XP should be used and that I shouldn't be using Win Server 2003 - that is not what this thread is about. If you don't know the answer to the question that I posed at the start of the thread - about getting it to run as a service under Win Server 2003 - please do not reply, you are diverting this thread. What he is most importantly saying is that basically 2003 "IS" XP. So if it works on XP then it will work on Server 2003 Server 2003 just has some extra services. I already posted how to enable Geovison as a service in another thread, BUT I cant say whether it will work or not. I get timeout errors but I dont have the card installed to do a real test. I guess due to lack of actual proof that it runs as a service from Geovision or anyone else, right now it is just a fairy tale that it will work - The GeoVision software is not created as a service so I dont see how it really would ever work, at least without errors.
  5. That said, I use Turret IR domes mostly now especially for homes, as they are the cheapest and still give a good image without IR reflection - only 12VDC though. With Turrets you can however see where they are pointed. Personally? I use bullets at my own place, simple to install and adjust, they can move the cameras? Sure, but another will capture them. Plus in all the times crooks have come through my yard (more than I can count) they never even noticed the bullets, or at least never bothered to try to move them. At a local club, bullets here and there, more domes now, a drunk came in one night they were closed and moved the camera .. ofcourse his face was clear as day as he was within 1 foot of the camera when he did it, same with a security guard one night on a crime binge .. move the camera with a broom stick (barely) .. but wait 3 other bullets caught him doing it! Ive seen domes also cracked, blocked, or totally ignored - wait so we got someone on camera that must be the criminals right? Wrong .. court says otherwise, just because they were in the yard, doesnt mean they broke in. Then again even with that bullet and the drunks face, couldnt press charges, got a face but no "body" to charge. Lots of different variables to consider. But generally we use them for clients so less likely to have to go back and adjust them in the very rare occasion of them actually being moved, even if just the local kids move them for fun or a heavy wind knocks a tree limb down on them. Turrets are cheap and easy to adjust also, much easier than the standard vandal dome, and typically cheaper. Not saying they are for everyone though, just saying its something to consider, whether the crook can see which way they are pointing or not. We get ALOT more IR with the bullets though.
  6. This could be something to look at also.
  7. Did you try another camera there yet?
  8. Not having used either except Geovision for Regular CCTV apps, but knowing the costs, I would say Geovision is good for those on a budget, especially as the software is free once you use their IP cameras, and the software is the same that comes with the Cards which is used in Professional CCTV applications. If I were to start offering IP systems today for my budget oriented clients, especially considering everything is 2-3 times the cost once it lands here, I would offer either GeoVision or CNB. Where money is no issue, cant help you there, but from what I have seen or heard, Exacq may have better analysis, think there are others also like IOIMAGE, might want to check the IP sub forum for an answer to that.
  9. eclipse cctv, probably others too.
  10. Havent tried it, but I imagine it would be very slow transferring Megapixel images non stop, and to a slow Atom PC as well.

What do you all think of these?

Using those products is hardly "thinking small". Its CCTV, they work, they do the job, and we get paid. Besides the "big boys" dont come on an internet forum looking for customers. 1. I was not talking about you ..Rory kinda funny u respond 2. if u notice I don't advertise my self at all look if i have signature with my website and look at yours so who is looking for customers ? or may be explain to me please Who are "big boys" ? Thx 1-I have a right to respond, you mentioned product lines that I and Many others on this forum utilize. I was simply correcting your error in judgement. 2-Other than personal PMs? Yes you are correct you have no signature. Besides its funny you would think I was talking about you, other than just making a general statement about the difference between small thinking and big thinking. As for mine, visit my links and then tell me what they are exactly, links back to my site, or popups that close out once you click the window? You will see how much advertising is done through them, which is 0, I dont even have a link back to my site here besides the text thing in the sig, which is not even a link and its directing people to free stuff - the links are simply there to HELP members of the forum that is all. I dont do any sales on my site and as far as the minimal part of it that is CCTV, that only caters to BAHAMIANS of which there are NONE on this forum, except me. Oh, and Big boys are big boys, the ones that dont just "think big" but actually make it big, thats all, was just staying on topic.

  13. With the camera I did it to, it was more like some kind of putty, it came off. Otherwise could use Rubbing Alcohol to clean it up, but a really soft cloth like eye glass cleaners. In my case there was no way to access it easily, it was way down into the bullet camera, had to keep picking at it with a small screw driver, eventually I just ended up breaking the glass in pieces (by accident) and picked out the pieces I then used the small eye glass cleaner cloth on the end of the screw driver to push it down into the bullet camera housing and clean up the residue left over, dont recall having to use anything else.
  14. its the extra piece of square glass that is glued over the chip's glass. So remove the lens, remove the lens holder, then should be able to get at it. see it clear in this photo, that little aqua color thing on the very top.

What do you all think of these?

In the perfect environment I could lay on the beach all day long, not have to work for a living. LOL! Point taken... But seriously... I feel pretty lucky. 1x $10,000 job is not enough for me, I want 1x $10,000 job plus 3000x Budget $1000 jobs (yes $1000 is a budget job here). I want to be the King of the World!! Hey was checking into business names here, checked CCTV King, just for grins and giggles, the local registrar that deals with business names said KING is a prohibited word LOL.

  17. If you want to buy retail and get some newer technology without spending an arm and a leg, check out the Cantek brand (Korean made available in the US, search google), or the CNB DVRs, and also Dahua (China made, eg. GenII Intellicam). All decent DVRs loaded with features at low cost - great VALUE for money.

What do you all think of these?

So your clients have endless pockets? Especially in this recession? Value for money, best bang for buck, thats what its all about. Regardless of the client, first thing you should ask is what is their budget. If they dont have a budget, then knock yourself out, but that is rare in this day and age.

What do you all think of these?

Most of the customers I come in contact with care more about the value. And if they don't, I tell them to go to Costco. Value, or Quality? Ofcourse Value for money is still part of a Budget installation, choosing the right product for the job.

What do you all think of these?

Its been my experience that the majority of end users factor price into the equation first. So budget is priority. Either they can afford it or not. Find out what their budget is before going any further, you can root out the time wasters that way also. Doesnt mean you have to quote or sell them junk, but there are quality budget products out there now, and there are more budget oriented end users than there are not.

What made you choose to use Speco? IMO its overpriced anyway. Anyway if you want to keep the price down, lower than that, look at this, use some budget wide angle bullets for the wide overview shots, then use some of for example CNB's box cameras (still alot cheaper than the Specos) with Day Night Aspherical lenses zoomed in on the points of interest, and use an 8 channel DVR instead - but dont go with some over priced cheap DVR ... there are other choices.

@ Soundy What model of camera is that first one? That the MP camera outperforms it in that lighting? In fact the MP image shows there is a ton of light, natural from a window? Why is the analog one so dark? Is it very old?
  24. Take a look at the KT&C ACE-VMN320NHB If it comes with a fixed IR cut filter placed over the chip (as I suspect it does) you could remove that to gain more sensitivity in low light, though you could loose the real colors especially if the sun is out (no idea about underwater though). That is 0.5 Lux. The higher resolution does not see as much in low light. But better clarity. KT&C also sell the fixed lenses individually.
  25. Get one of the higher resolution KT&C board cameras instead. Although you probably just need to focus that one better.
