  1. No activeX or SDK for AvTech so out of luck on that one. In fact I would highly suggest upgrading to a better DVR, anything else really is better. Although you mention 60 of them so that might be out of the question at this point. That said, you could try contacting AvTech and see what they say. There is also a custom java app floating around the web but not sure how much that gives you access to.

Bosch EX12 vs. $6 ebay IR illuminator

Thats one reason I stopped using them, but they still are great illuminators. The Hallogen bulb, we changed it approx every 1-2 years, cost approx $80 for a bulb.
  3. Did it really? Can you give us your opinion? Thanks.

how about 2 panaromic Megapixel cameras? 180x2 would cover all around. Then 4 regular IR bullets for night time. Or motion lights for the MP cameras. then just use a 4 channel entry level Dahua for 4 wide angle KT&C 500TVL color bullets for general overview? CNB have a monalisa TDN IR bullet, 3.8-9.5mm, cheapest TDN in north America LOL .. going to try it out soon .. their last one sucked but this is the monalisa with OSD and has more features now for the same price.
  5. yeah even those raptors .. like 75GB was wayyy expensive! I think the 150GB one cost over $300 at the time
  6. I found the Milestone software to be atrociously slow .. need a super PC for that.
  7. Geo DVR with a 10,000 rpm Raptor .. that sucker was fast .. only used it for the system partition and was only a test as it was so loud and hot also http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=030htVp7KLE

M12's (Mobotix?) wont work with the Dahua DVRs. IMO Dahua DVRs are more geared for cheap to middle of the line cameras anyway. Now, the Dahua PSS Software does have support for IP cameras, dont know which ones (yet), but the DVRs do not.

    Thanks For Helpful Info

You should upgrade to a better alarm system, the LYNX was a disaster that Ademco came out with, we used, hated, got shouted at by clients for installing, and finally stopped using them as quick as we had started. Much better systems to use even from Ademco (Honeywell), or others, and ones that might give you the extra features you want.
  10. Nlite Setup for PC DVRs: http://www.bahamassecurity.com/software/cctv/dvrlite.asp Its pretty heavily tweaked and components removed, adjust to your needs if required. Also shows other post install tweaks. For added security: Enable Windows Firewall - add the DVR Ports. Enable TCP/IP Filtering - select permit only for each one, in TCP add the DVR Ports. Definitely never DMZ a Windows DVR. IT always complain they cant access the DVR .. im like yeah so??? Its recording, the client can view it remotely or over the network, and the client can login and playback or backup. The DVR used to crash all the time when IT was in charge of it, now it just works. IT need to keep their hands off my DVRS!!

    Duplicated Channel gv-800

Is it a legit card? Are the BNC pigtails the original ones? Any video loss, any channels still enabled that dont exist?

    Netpromax

Yeah at the time when I was working on it I tried all the ports, got the ports from a sniffer, even DMZ'd it ... in the end the only way I got audio was by using their DDNS. Figured it must be something in their new software .. even their tech I ended up speaking to at the time just ran past that issue. The cards themselves were very old and had lost the old software when the HDD crashed. So there was some hacks the netpromax tech had to do even to get it to work without crashing non stop .. cant recall what they were and didnt really pay attention as I dont use that DVR normally, was just glad the head ache of an overall job was over (long story about that job)

I havent used them but they claim D1 realtime every channel. I use the slim line and entry level unit (very small) and they work well but its 7fps D1 every channel (fine for most apps), good bang for buck especially as they are all basically budget DVRs anyway. No advanced search features though, just select a time and play or backup. Still better than most in that price range, a video example of the network software in my sig. Also they have mobile apps for almost everything and simple to get working on an Ipad. And they have an SDK downloadable on their site if you are into that. They are always updating the firmware and network software also which is nice as it fixes any bugs or brings in new features at least for the network software, good support so far also, I bypass the US distributor and go direct to Dahua in China.

    Netpromax

i just switched mine back to DynDns.com's DDNS service like I use with everything else. Except you dont get live remote audio in this case unless you were using Netpromax's DDNS.

Bosch EX12 vs. $6 ebay IR illuminator

yeah still a couple going strong in the field today they still have one of the fastest seek times for playback ive seen on any DVR yet. turning the jog dial a couple hours a head or so playback is next to instant. terrible quality evidence sharing though unless one uses an external DVR writer or capture card on the monitor output.

    GV800 Webcam Runtime Error

just got back in from some literally back breaking work ... will take a look at this a little later. another idea is to try IE tabs in Google Chrome - the activeX has to be installed first though but I found activeX to run even better in IE tabs than IE8. Also try this: http://www.bahamassecurity.com/webcam/ download and install the activeX and then reload the page in IE and enter your site details. no information is saved by the way.

Bosch EX12 vs. $6 ebay IR illuminator

I used the Extreme IR for years, yes pricey but in the cases of say the UF500 the cheap ones cant touch it, that turns large pitch dark areas into daylight, blows away the Raymax also going by what I used. Im also impressed by the EX26LED but it is too expensive and now discontinued.

    GV800 Webcam Runtime Error

You could also manually remove them in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32 vidc.G264, vidc.G26S, etc. basically the vidc.G### is geovision. shows the file locations also. and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\drivers.desc thats just the codecs though .. also need to remove the activeX which is likely your issue: eg registry section for 8.32, also shows the location of the registered activeX control. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{8D58D690-6B71-4EE8-85AD-006DB0287BF1} older versions: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{DA8484DE-52DB-4860-A986-61A8682E298A} I have a remover but its not up to date.

    GV800 Webcam Runtime Error

that depends on the version or installer you used. check C:\WINDOWS\GeoOCX\WebCam C:\WINDOWS\System32\v8120 (eg. version 8.12) C:\Program Files\GeoCodec Be sure to clean the registry after removing .. eg use CCleaner

    GV800 Webcam Runtime Error

Did you compatibility mode? Maybe the OS is 64bit?
  21. Im cleaning cameras and replacing some at a job now which is a warehouse and they have loading dock doors opened all day .. the cameras are covered in dirt .. the lens needs to be cleaned and Id hate to see the guts of the camera. If they had a housing anyone could clean that but they tried cleaning the lens before and knocked them out of focus Housings are cheap now also, check the Samsung SHB-4200.

    Monitor/Operator to Camera Ratio

You might be better off with alarm video only based on detection by the DVR. Many DVRs have some kind of CMS software so when you setup the alarm video and arm it, when there is motion detected by the DVR it will popup that channel for X amount of seconds .. then it goes away, and it does this with all the channels, can have them set to different windows also, or monitors, and even record to the PC. This would require a separate computer though. Im even doing this with the budget Dahua 4 channels now. I dont even have a working hard drive in my personal Dahua DVR, i just have it recording it over the network based on detection from the DVR. Low light could be an issue though as its based on Motion detection video on the DVR. But either way I would do more like 1 operator for 9 or 16 camera view ... then have the less important cameras in a larger multiview which can still be brought up larger on that other monitor. I think they already have some guidelines for this out of the UK .. theyve been doing this a long time I find watching 4 cameras at a time tasking though .. in that something can go undetected so easily while looking at one of the other cameras .. For alarm video only then you can cut right down on the number of operators and dont have to worry about missing something because they were looking at another camera.

I dont know .. those domes may be difficult to mount on a pole .. they dont have any pole mounts and water can get inside if not sealed properly. Better off with their (or another brand) box cameras in a weatherproof housing .. or even a decent bullet but thats hard to find these days (KT&C have the N500 or N700 though I havent tested them, Samsung also have what looks like a decent one but expensive). also regarding those domes, you may be better off with something that you can change the settings to without having to get to the camera, the 24VF domes are not that .. the 34VF has it, or their Box cameras have it also, using a cat5 cable can remotely adjust the OSD features. But even might want a PTZ so able to adjust the lens depending on the job. Might even want a basic megapixel camera, at least for the day time? CNB even has an inexpensive 1.3MP box camera. Have to add the lens price to the box cameras though and an MP lens for the MP camera. Tamron has some F:1.0 3-8mm Aspherical IR lenses in both types. If too bulky .. check out KT&C for some mini high res bullets.
