Handheld screen for setting help
rory replied to torbenc's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
The resolution, lack of pixels, tiny screen, there is just no way on this earth. One would have to be superman to see "edges" in the video that are not even there on the screen. -
Their new software wont work with any other DDNs service BUT theirs .. other way is to use the IP but ofcourse it will change if not static. If it came down to it you could run a script that gets the IP from the DDNS and then using send keys run the FXClient, open the login Window, and change the info then connect .. all automatically without user input .. but ....I would just upgrade to something that works better.

Handheld screen for setting help
rory replied to torbenc's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I do it every time and every time it comes out perfect - this way one can use a good monitor to focus with and control the lighting to get the best focus all around; and then one also doesnt have to worry about not being able to see the monitor screen at the location due to bright sunlight. Actually I recall you yourself saying on this forum that CNB's come focused and you dont have to adjust them - well same idea, unless ofcourse the view is changed at the location - that said I have had to focus most of the CNB's as the focus was not 100% which leads me to believe there are some installers who are okay with a mediocre focus, if in fact they are not refocusing them. But anyway there are tons of threads on this already so as not to repeat myself I wont go any further - to the OP please use the search to find out how to focus properly. I paid $150 for my cheap COBY Portable DVD, but thats neither here nor there, the quality is nothing close to that of a CCTV CRT, and with the DVD one will NEVER get a proper focus, unless as I mentioned before it is by pure luck. -
Without IR or alot of visible light the cameras are trying to compensate for the low light, hence the noise. Some cameras compensate more than others, meaning more noise, some have noise reduction features, eg. DNR. Best thing to do is either add IR or more visible light.
-
They should say it's because some can only afford the cheaper 4 camera system. Obviously then they are catering to more than one type of customer, and there are more poor people in this world than there are rich. Or something like that ... maybe then how bout a cup of tea mate
-
Cant do that if the OP is not a registered dealer on the forum.

Panasonic WV-NW502 does not record motion at night
rory replied to cglaeser's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Does the lighting change around that time, get darker with lights turning off? I normally use motion in the day and continuous record at night because of the noise and low light. -

or prefocus the cameras in a controlled environment. There are also more expensive Focus Meters ..but they dont always work especially if there is alot of motion in the video. CRTs run under $100 now BTW. I also use the portable DVD method BTW, as a last resort .. OR, i connect via the network software at highest resolution and adjust it with my netbook, works but its rarely actually a good focus, the software generally compresses it too much, and these cameras are already low res, compared to megapixel. -

You cant focus a camera properly with a small hand held monitor, especially a low res portable DVD player. Though some would disagree, thats my experience. Will it suffice in most cases? Sure. Will it be perfect? Nope, unless you are really lucky and accidentally hit the sweet spot. -
Sony cameras are nothing special. And I mean their normal cameras as per the topic. Sounds like this customer will be a headache. Might be able to find Sony cameras online, but going by the price they generally arent worth it. You dont have to go Chinese by the way, Koreans make good quality cameras also. if they can afford Sony then they might go for it. Give them 2 options incase.

That was my experience with well known branded baluns.

Well .. its what we call an antique in the PC world, runs XP though with some minor difficulty .. but if thats all you can afford then go for it. Used some of them for POS systems recently, refurbs and the memory was bad in at least one after 1 month on the job. Just got through messing with a couple Dells like that also, bad memory as well. Brought some in a few years back for the alarm monitoring company to use for office machines ... they all went bad also, if it wasnt the power supply it was something else .. did test one for a DVR using a riser card .. but too slow though useable if not trying to playback .. wasnt worth it when could build a new fast PC for under $200 and something that has much better cooling than those types .. thats another big problem with them .. they get hot especially under 24/7 service in the field. Just saying .. been there done that.

DVR card wont fit in that without a riser card. I wouldnt use one of those for a DVR, too many things to go wrong, memory is the most common, Ive worked on many like that, including refurbs from Tiger Direct.

8. Progress Window 8.1 Overview This is a Progress Window that may appear when loading the program, I am going to get rid of this Window all together. This is what the Progress Window normally looks like: The 4 original images are: Progress_normal_en.bmp, Progress_over_en.bmp, Progress_down_en.bmp, Progress_disable_en.bmp. We will be deleting these files after we edit the skin below. Skin File = Progress_config.ini Here is the original file first: View as text file 8.2 Images I change the images to a 1x1pixel blank image and resize it to 0 width and 0 height. BackImage_Up = blank.bmp BackImage_Over = blank.bmp BackImage_Down = blank.bmp BackImage_Disable = blank.bmp New Image: Right click to download ... then copy this to your skin folder (overwrite if it already exists) blank.bmp 8.3 Skin File Here is the new skin file that gets rid of the Progress Window: (download) [MainSettings] MaskColor = 0,0,0 MainWindow_Size = 0,0 IsUseMask = 0 BackImage_Up = blank.bmp BackImage_Over = blank.bmp BackImage_Down = blank.bmp BackImage_Disable = blank.bmp Ctl_BackColor = 0,0,0 Ctl_TextColor = 0,0,0 [MainButtons] [StaticText] Progress_Isvisible = 0 [Progress] ProgressPGS_Isvisible = 0 It is now safe to delete the original image files for this skin: Progress_normal_en.bmp, Progress_over_en.bmp, Progress_down_en.bmp, Progress_disable_en.bmp ____________________________________ 1. 7. Login Window Important: Stop reading now if you still use a password to login to the PSS program (default), otherwise you wont be able to use PSS after this skin change. Read the General Settings section of this article on how to remove the password if you have not yet done so and still want to continue with this. 7.1 Overview This is what normally pops up for you to enter your username and password, but since we took that option out already, I am going to get rid of this Window all together. Recovery? Well thats an old version. I would say remove Geo and Reinstall it if you have the software? Have you tried the Repair Database tool? Make sure there is space on the data drive. Otherwise, and even if you do reinstall it, remove all geo*.ini files from the Windows directory as one of them may be corrupt - note this will remove all your settings. If you uninstall it also remove the Geo folder on the C drive (or what drive its installed on). Then run a good cleanup like CCleaner, Remove drivers, Reboot then reinstall. All files will be recreated and it should work, if not then perhaps some other issue. Any Windows event log errors related to it? What OS and was anything updated recently? Was this working before? There is no default password by the way.

never used the Nuvico so cant say. Wasnt happy with their cameras so That kind of put me off them. Ofcourse they rebrand them from a source in Asia. Its kind of pricey though for a 4 channel .. but still cheaper than GE and others. Maybe try it out and let us demo the network video? I judge a DVR by more than just the fps ;D

No its okay, someone will come along. I dont use MP cameras due to the market here so cant help. That said I really am not recommending any camera at this time also. What might work for one might not work for another. -

What about the extra time spent to address night time issues? From the images I saw on here from said camera it sucks under low light? Auto Focus is nice though. But isnt focusing it part of the original install charge? Does one charge half the money to install the camera then? -
They're sold under various names in the US including Intellicam, XTSvideo, MACE, and others, even Q-see uses one of their entry level models. I only use the slim line (1U) models right now, thats the size we want around here and being the cheaper model is what is easier to sell here (we pay 50% customs duty BTW). We use their entry level one as a kit (when we buy it we have to buy 4 cameras, but they and the DVR are all dead cheap), and the step up from it that has the HDMI (I have the 4-channel with HDMI hooked up here). Like everything there are things I wish were better, but for the price they work and work good, or better than others. We get ours from XTSvideo but they dont sell retail. They also come out with updated versions of the firmware and network software frequently, infact I started with PSS 4.01 and its now 4.04 after only 3 months - they added a couple features and seem to be continuously doing so. Also you can get the firmware direct from Dahua even for the units you get from the US, in fact Ive got good support from Dahua so far, bypassing the distributors in the US. Oh yeah another thing I like is they have a free SDK download on their site. All kind of mobile phone support also, tested on the ipad took seconds to install and connect. Anyway, sticking with it for now, havent seen anything else that is so much better that makes me want to beg the person with the $$ to go buy it to test .. yet. HDMI output and a list of mobile phone support .. is a big selling point also.

I dont recommend cameras anymore but maybe someone else can. There are alot of brands out there, CNB and KT&C are manufacturers direct from Korea, unlike some OEMs in the US for example reselling under their name - therefore the price is normally much cheaper (not saying the OEM cameras arent any good, I use some myself). CNB and KT&C is on almost every retail site. Lens wise, you got a really long zoom there at 16mm, 4mm and less is wide angle. 3.6mm is typical on fixed lens cameras. You loose some quality with the wider lenses but its worth the extra view. Make sure it is 1/3" and not 1/4".
-
Have you used a Dahua DVR? How is it the same price when the EB1304 SATA+ costs twice the price at ALL US Distributors? And what features? The EB1304NET barely had any, the SATA+ doesnt appear to be much different.
-
Also check KT&C as they have a better line of Bullet cameras and mini cameras than CNB.
-
Ive used the EB1304NET and wouldnt again, especially at the price. Not sure if they changed it yet, but no motion masking. Evidence Sharing is mediocre at best. Network client and browser app is rubbish. Its a basic DVR at a big price, you are better off with a Dahua DVR for half the price and 10 times the features
