Who's the manufacturer? Most still dont have Android apps, even Iphone apps are still kind of new. Did you goto the real manufacturers site in Asia?

Not totally true, one does not have to use it like that. ActiveX controls are still a great help in programming, I use them all the time even when I write my own. But as for DVRs I use their activeX controls in my programs, no security settings, the issues you are having are IE related. I look at it this way, if you have to install something, which is any activeX or Java or quicktime etc (windows does not have quicktime and updated java by default) then might as well just install a real desktop app which is much more powerful being that it is not stuck within a limited web browser. If you are in a web cafe to install an ActiveX you still need to have admin rights, same as installing a program - most wont give you admin rights. That said, I use the DVRs with the webrec but I rarely use the browser for it, it was a task to get working with IE 8.0 but I just downloaded the webrec.cab and installed that like I do most ActiveX Controls. Their Iphone/ipad software installed flawlessly though. Although I use my own custom program Im still working on it so cant say where to get that yet, but you can simply install PSS software, customize the device for your DVR's remote IP address, then copy that folder to your USB jump drive (contains all the custom dependencies) - carry that with you and you can now connect right from there - tested in XP SP2/SP3 and Win7. Ofcourse like anything you need admin rights. And they even have a Mac version of PSS. Ofcourse if you just want to see the basic live image then some javascript and server push or even just jpeg refresh would suffice, its still rare with DVRs though.

nah as long as there are engineers people will be trying to make things better and therefore doing things different.

Vivotek FD8134 Not having auto iris - is that a problem?
rory replied to personalt's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Regarding the IP based no problem I understand.. For the IR .. in that camera's case it doesnt seem that much IR so may be okay, its LED though so its stronger on the eyes than a regular light. Really as long as its not pointing right in their eyes it should be fine. -

You can do that with most DVRs and NVRs, everything has a network connection now and many support Android. If its only for the crib then it would work though Id be a little more afraid of what damage the IR might do to the kid, even the slightest IR hurts my eyes and Im a grown man. -
I want to know how to transfer videos from the DVR to dvds ?
rory replied to AVI2DVD's topic in General Digital Discussion
Well the name is a name used for gorrilla marketing of a product by what the name says. a google search will give examples. Meanwhile, if you have converted to AVI, it will depend on the DVR whether it uses a custom codec or not. If its generic H.264 you could burn to DVD using same as you would a DivX movie, though I havent tried that so cant say for certain. Its a rare request for me as most clients that I deal with will be just saving it to play in a court from a laptop for example; we just back everything up to USB now. In many cases it might require the original watermark for legal reasons (depending on the location) and converting from its original format could/would destroy that. There are various programs though that will convert it to a standard format which will not require the codecs installed (and destroy the watermark), Handbrake being one such app and it is free, or alternatively one could use Windows Movie Maker or a host of other programs perhaps even the DVD authoring software. It really depends on what DVR was used though to be able to say for certain. Optionally just upload to Facebook or youtube and they will convert it to MP4 for you for free, then download it and burn to DVD. -

rory replied to AVI2DVD's topic in General Digital Discussion
Going by your user name you already know. Exactly what are your intentions on this forum? Anyway, you were given an EXACT answer by Soundy, there is nothing more to it than that. There are MANY DVRs, it will depend on the DVR you are using. -
Login over LAN, can't login over internet KGUARD KG-SHA104
rory replied to fyrey's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Its very rare that a DVR supports an OS other than Windows, especially with browser access and especially a stand alone DVR. There are some though, a couple even have Non browser apps for Mac now. But otherwise there are ways to get around it, see this thread if you feel adventurous. viewtopic.php?f=12&t=19615 -
Couple ways, screen shots of the GUI or Remote Video Software. Another way I like to do it is just find what ActiveX control they use, normally there is a company name in that somewhere. If its an OEM it will normally still have the manufacturers original activeX. Otherwise there is no such thing as a generic DVR really, they all have different manufacturers. Some may use the same board or firmware though, but most will customize it even if that is the case, and in doing this the ports can differ and other features as well.

Best app for a general CCTV video recorder?
rory replied to rucanunes's topic in Digital Video Recorders
The best app would generally be the one supplied by the manufacturer of the DVR, or at least an app written specifically for said DVR. -

I take it you mean a specific CMOS chip, surely not the $10 ones? -

Going by the specs, the IR is pretty much useless unless in a really small area. Its a CMOS chip and its really high res and it has a F:1.8 lens so its low light capability is probably next to none. Dont expect much from it, better off buying a lower res CCTV camera which will actually see something if Day Night IR apps is what you are after. -
What I found with the greens was jittery video on at least the Geovision PC DVR, even switching to a 5400rpm USB drive the issue was fixed. I was forced however to purchase a 2TB Green drive for a current job (all I could get locally) using a different DVR, a stand alone from Dahua - will see how this one goes, may have been a Geovision issue with it or even that it was an AV drive or just something else wrong with the drive that was not being reported with SMART or even on all the scans I did. Will report back even though its not the same DVR.

As long as you can get drivers etc for it. But I would not use Bootcamp as there are alot of issues with that, just install it as a usual Windows setup. You may need Bootcamp if anything just to tell the firmware to boot to the NTFS partition (windows HDD), we only left it installed for the LED dimmer though. Remember there is no Bios though, its a stripped down EFI Firmware designed for Mac hardware and OS. Ofcourse all this and you can build a PC for $200-$250 that will handle Geo.

Is it set to recycle/overwrite? Otherwise Hard drive could be failing, check the Windows System event log for any disk errors. He should not be recording on the same partition as the system though, and disable the recycle bin on the recording partition if it is separate, if it is the same partition or you cant disable it, turn it right down to 1%. Also make sure the Page file is set to a fixed size (same initial and max size) and make sure Hibernation and System Restore is disabled.

According to this from Sony, Huviron is correct, Effio-E does not have WDR but Effio does? http://www.sony.net/Products/SC-HP/effiowld/lineup/index.html

Definitely try what Soundy mentioned. Also if you are up to it, open up the router for remote administration and using the DDNS name try to connect to it from outside. You dont actually have to go outside just test it at this link: http://www.websitepulse.com/help/testtools.server-test.html The port must be the same as in the router, eg remote admin on the routers are most times 8080 Another thing, though I dont know this DVR and not seen it before on a DVR, it could be blocking outside access, outside of the LAN.

? So you wouldn't insure the more expensive analog system? Well I am talking about 1 single camera, where an analog camera, since thats what you want to bring up, could cost roughly $500, while the one we are talking about is $10,000. Although $500 is still alot of money its a far cry from $10,000 and in most cases the customer can afford to loose a $500 compared to the cost of insuring it. Again 1 single camera, it is much easier for the thief to steal 1 single camera than 50 of them, and ofcourse if we are talking 50 x $10,000 cameras (your number from earlier post) then that makes it even more reason to insure them. Also recall I was talking about insuring in the case of lightning also. One $500 camera gets hit no big deal, One $10,000 camera gets hit its all over. Ive come across $3000 Extreme CCTV cameras get hit by lightning and its no fun, glad it wasnt my job.
-
Not if I could loose $10,000+- just from the theft or damage of one single camera, if not insured.
-
Unlike you, I dont just stick to one brand or one type of product, I give my clients the choice, not all need a $10,000 camera, and a $100 camera also wont work for every application. As for my opinion, I will give it to someone that gives a damb which obviously you dont. Unlike me ? Where did u get idea that I stick to one type of product ? I give my clients lot of choices from Analog to IP The same place you got the idea about me.
-
A question to avoid answering the original questions. I have no interest in quoting someone elses million dollar job when Im not getting paid to do so, I only had a couple questions that could obviously not be answered for whatever reason. I give you that you are a good sales man, but thanks anyway, I guess I will research the insurance thing myself.
-
I never wrote anything about any analog camera getting face recognition at a stadium's seating area, so that has no bearing on anything. Please re-read my original post. And the question again was, nothing to do with analog cameras now so please forget analog cameras even exist, are these $10,000+- cameras insured due to the high cost, lets say in the RARE case that they are stolen? Heck they could get stolen on the way to being installed even. Can one get lightning insurance on them also?
-
No, I have never in 10 years had a camera stolen. Do you think it would be a little obvious if some drove a lift into the stadium and when up 50-100ft to the camera? You don't think the other 50 cameras would catch any of this? Or the security team would not question some one with a lift? Maybe you need to come try to steal one in the US and see how well that would work out? Its a simple question, do you just expect people to spend that kind of money and not ask questions? And I thought this one camera was replacing those 50 cameras? And are you insinuating that I am a criminal that goes around stealing things???? If not, why would you even suggest such a thing??
-
Yeah its called the real world. So back to the stealing, you do insure those $10,000 cameras at least right? You just don't get it Please explain? Help me understand - People dont steal where you install cameras??? And ofcourse what if lightning takes the camera out? Is there lightning insurance for cameras? Dont any of your customers ask these simple questions before spending so much money??
