  5. or more specifically cute rabbit shaped mp3 players
  6. In that price range you are probably looking more at a DVR system.

    GeoVision Fisheye Camera - Video

When I said an EXE I meant a client program But otherwise something like this works also (8.32) http://www.bahamassecurity.com/webcam/ I dont have anything more recent though. But for example the 7.0 ActiveX can view 8.3 systems.
  8. I have no idea what their Iphone app is like but if their Windows Client App is any indication I would run away from it as fast as I could.

    EFFIO Camera comparison

Hey .. do you have any samples?
  10. also some outdoor shots in the dark or low light would be great like with a 50x50 width and depth
  11. ok then just faulty .. happens I still wonder about this one that went black once at a client .. they are away right now so no idea if it has gone black again since then .. cant send it back as this was one I painted LOL. But in all my weeks of testing it here never had one single issue. Will wait and see.
  12. They are 2 totally different DVRs, the Avtech is a budget DVR with limited features, the Geo is a full featured PC DVR system with good evidence sharing. You need to decide what type of DVR it is you need, is the location too hot or rugged for a PC DVR? IF not and you are confident in building PC systems and have the time it takes to set it up properly as a DVR and not a home or business PC/server, or willing to buy one ready made for the extra cost, then perhaps the Geo is for you. Stand alone is normally a much more basic system, basic board and embedded slower CPU, but in some cases does enough for many clients. Evidence sharing is typically not as good but on some models it is good enough. They can typically hold up in alot more heat than a PC, though that depends where you live or the location that the DVR will go as to whether that even matters. If you want alot of networking features, typically you will find at least more control of them with a decent PC DVR. Less limits on number of users connected at one time, true dual stream with more quality settings, etc. meaning recording encoding is totally separate from network encoding. AvTech evidence sharing samples .. from a DVR a couple years old. Maybe its better now but kind of doubt it. There is a slightly different app which I also used on my DVR but it was not great either. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/gallery/?DVR-AvTech

    Avigilon Software

Downloaded also, the player struggles a little on my P4 3Ghz. Not bad otherwise, though export is disabled as I get an error when I try that? Also I did find you can change the display quality which does make playing the video run smoother on this P4 compared to playing the file in original quality. Menu system is a little on the heavy side, no need for those nice looking drop down menus really but anyway. Overall its a pretty big Dotnet program so the GUI is expected to be a little heavy even with no file open. I imagine it will really struggle on a netbook but will test it in a bit, although I dont have Dotnet installed and have no plans to, so it probably wont run at all LOL.

    GeoVision Fisheye Camera - Video

Thats why Im like if one has to install a bunch of activeX might as well just place a link there to click to download and install the EXE and run it outside of the browser.
  15. ah the joys of living in North America That would have cost me more than the price of the camera to send back to them and back here again Did they say anything about what might have been the problem or they just replaced it?
  16. Actually most of the bigger name DVRs dont have much more features in many cases, you would need to step up alot more $$$$ to really make a difference unless you want to go PC based. But as mentioned that Dahua has features your even more basic one doesnt.
  17. The difference between using a web browser and a client app can be even more compelling on a smart phone. The problem is many consumers want everything for free. Exacq mobile is excellent, whereas using a smart phone web browser to view an Exacq server is pretty much just a novelty. At $49, I consider Exacq mobile to be a reasonable deal, but some consumers squeal like a stuck pig. Best, Christopher Mobile phones are even more limited .. I dont use those either.

    GV1480 upgrade

I would always remove old Geo programs before installing a new one. Also remove the GV folder as mentioned and I would go a step further and remove the Geo *.ini's in the windows folder.
  19. finding a "cheap" DVR that doesnt use ActiveX in a browser is next to impossible. However the Dahua DVRs do have a Mac version of their Windows Client software. Dahua is sold under some names such as Intellicam in the US. In fact the Q-see on the other thread, the review, is the same DVR. sample screenshots: http://www.bahamassecurity.com/gallery/?DVR-Dahua (DVR case looks different as its a different US distributor) Personally I never use a web browser to watch live video, will never have the same power as a client app.
  20. Have you checked out Blue Iris? Its not free but cheap and I think its a free trial.

    GeoVision Fisheye Camera - Video

not arguing just giving opinions and debating this and that I forgot to ask, does Geo let you zoom it and if so how is it? It says its a 4 megapixel right so should be okay for some zoom? Now im wondering .. how about a housing for that?
  22. Its a budget Desktop system. Perhaps add a separate Video card and see if that fixes it. Thats a really old computer and not suitable for a CCTV DVR using todays software. Not sure which CPU yours has but seems some came with Celerons.
