    GeoVision Fisheye Camera - Video

VOIP = Voice over IP, simple, so yes the Geo is literally VOIP. Not SIP but still VOIP. Actually that is a $30,000 fine here, so wow cant sell either of them LOL. So yeah that feature doesnt even interest me. that price they list is dealer price buddy. Even so the prices I am seeing at distributors is $1000. either way at the same level I can get the Geo for $275, that is expensive as it is, but a heck lot cheaper than the mobotix. And sure, 8GB storage onboard compared to say 500GB storage on a PC? Most interested probably already have Geo so its no charge. If not, $250 for PC and $50 for their software and then can always add more cameras. Not saying I would buy it though. Someone come out with a $100 indoor one and a $200 outdoor day night one, that works with ANY DVR or NVR .. im all over them
  2. No, but one could just cut the phone line or jam the radio if it has one, or pull the plug and disconnect the battery, and ofcourse kill the siren But yeah its a really basic DVR, there are much worse DVRs out there for even more money. Would I buy it? Heck no!! Also I wouldbt buy the GE Concord system either, much better products out there for that as well

The list price for the Q24 is $1548 The list price for the Geo is $550 Thats a huge difference, we all know that they can both be had online for cheaper, in the case of Geo 1/2 the price, which makes the Geo one well within the budget of most. The Geo one definitely will hit a huge majority of the market that cannot afford the Mobotix, at least for indoors. Ofcourse without the Geo software it will probably be useless though, but even that is cheap with a 1 channel NVR license (for their IP cameras) being just $50 list price, or free with existing Geo systems. According to the specs the Geo also has VOIP (built in mic and audio).

Need help with an avi video...

LOL .. it plays Geo but the video is upside down
  5. Regarding the password, that is probably only for local access, not over the network. If you go into the user setup it may show if it is a built in local admin account or other. The DVR i have here for example has a default admin password but its only for local access. Also at the price I found online that is probably their rock bottom system so cant expect much from it. One of their better 4 channel DVRs for example costs that price alone plus the cameras and accessories, and that DVR is still considered a basic consumer DVR in the security world.

DVR reps have access to DVR

Yes this is common with most DVRs. In most cases it can be changed.
  7. not much these days, depends on the application. CNB DFL-20s is great for indoors and its dead cheap. CNB VBM/VCM-24VF is great for most other apps. Also not expensive. CNB VBB-34VF is a WDR Double Scan Camera, also not THAT expensive. KT&C has mini color bullets with 3.6mm 1/3" fixed lens, cheap and real colors. or BW bullets for even less for low light apps that dont need color in the day For True Day Night IR bullets though expect to pay almost double the price of say the CNB VBM/VCM type domes, KT&C have something similar in the KPC-N500 TDN IR bullet with ICR, 600TVl with 2.8mm-12 lens and OSD but its still alot cheaper than using something like an EX-82 from Bosch (use to be Extreme CCTV). You can find much of the CNB cameras I listed with demo videos on Youtube. ofcourse all that costs 3 times to sell here in the Bahamas due to International shipping and customs duty so its probably the same cost here as you would get a panasonic for in the US LOL.
  8. Both are out of focus though. The BW seems to be somewhat focused on a couple objects but everything else is out of whack.

Seams like a toy compared to the Mobotix camera. Here is a Mobotix Q24 mounted outside on the front of a house. lol well they are all toys, especially since they cant see much under low light

http://www.geovision.com.tw/english/Prod_GVIPCAMH264Fisheye4.asp Most likely decoding would be done through the activeX or client software as with all geo stuff.

edit .. so yeah um going by the last 2 images i posted .. they DO look close enough .. I mean wow. What was Geo thinking?? Least make it look different. Unless they are using the same manufacturer and Mobotix dont make them directly??

it does bare some similarity to one of them, for certain, but the mobotix bears similarity to other 360 degree cameras that were around years before them. I doubt they would ever entertain a lawsuit as that might open them up for legal action also. eg. a thread from 2004 about grandeyes HALOCAM viewtopic.php?f=5&t=430 And others dating as far back as 2001: Phillips e-dome based on the IQvision camera http://www.optoiq.com/index/machine-vision-imaging-processing/display/vsd-article-display/111905/articles/vision-systems-design/product-highlights/philips-csi-selects-iqinvision-iqeye3-camera-for-its-security-products.html and these type of cameras been around for years in the non IP section (not with fisheye lens in this case, though you can just drill a larger hole and mount your own fisheye lens very easily). http://www.ktnc.co.kr/english/viewtopic.php?t=424 But they have got alot better now with Mobotix and the others doing MP. BTW the lenses do look different also: BUT REALLY CLOSE OTHERWISE LOL Mobotix: Geo

I would be more concerned about it only being CIF recording.

I got this 4 channel, and my last one and the one before that, and every computer Ive used in the past 10 years, for free also, not to mention the free 23" LCD Monitor I use, and the free keyboards and mice I have. Come to think about it, even my router was free. Guess I win?? Oh yeah I didnt have to pay a dime for my cameras either, all 2nd hand free

You could but it wouldnt work well at all. BTW most refurbed P4 systems run around $200. I can easily build a new Pentium Dual Core with 2GB DDR2 800, 500GB HDD, HDMI, by far much faster than any P4 system and Atom, for approx $200. Not to mention place it in a larger case for better air cooling. So yes, it is a real world comparison. Most current software can barely run on old hardware as developers are developing current software on what can be called super computers in comparison to an old P4. So yes it will crawl on an Atom especially trying to stream Live video on it, as the Atoms are even slower than the average P4. I cant speak for Vigil maybe they develop on old slower computers? I can however vouch for tons of others having personally used them. BTW I use a P4 as my main system so this I know well. In fact just recently a DVR manufacturer tried to tell me the same thing when an old PC DVR's HDD crashed and we had to replace it, they didnt have the old software so gave me the new one instead, it was fine except it ran at 100% CPU when recording basic video at just half D1, infact it was fine until it kept crashing and in the end had to turn down the encoding to CIF and disable Audio recording all together - even then it barely runs smooth. Otherwise XP runs fine on it without the DVR software, and we have an exact identical DVR at another location running the old software and same number of cameras recording audio and D1 with barely 60% CPU. Also I DO have older GEO's out there on 2.4 celerons, but the current software will barely run on my P4 let alone a celeron. Its just how things are, they change, in fact they tend to get slower requiring faster hardware, thanks to the new developers that feel everyone and they mama has a super computer. Basically most current software is nothing like their old software regardless of how their GUI might look.
  21. Well this isnt a normal camera and lens, so it will vary. Click the advanced tab and see what options it gives you?
  22. yes if you rotate it too much in one direction it can pull on the cables and cause them to come loose. If it is an IRIS issue and its whiteout, taking it indoors should fix that, but you said you tried that and still nothing? There are 2 boards which cables join to from the back of the camera, make sure those cables are on the boards good also, but they are harder to just come loose as they are I think under the boards. Maybe try taking the Auto Iris out, its just one or 2 small screws then it pulls right out. Or even loosen the lens screw and remove the lens and see what it does. Cant set the defaults unless you can get back into the OSD, can you access the OSD at all? Like Soundy I have one that went black before, client told me that but It went back to normal and as far as I know hasnt done it again. I know if the IRIS jams closed it can be that way, my old bullet camera here has done that now, but I bent up the IRIS holder when I opened it to took out the IR cut filter LOL. Killed the plastic IR cut filter also I can go out to it now and release it and it will be fine, or even take the AI out completely but then thats whiteout in the day. Im just going to replace it for a new TDN lens unless I can get my hands on another old TDN camera with M13 lens then use that one or just its AI/ICR.
  23. Disable the auto focus, as that must be causing it to go back out of focus as it is placed against the window. Disable AI if you can, enable EI if it has that option. Or you can manually remove the AI from the lens normally and then place it back when done. If it has some shutter settings, make sure it is not going into a slow shutter mode to compensate for low light, that can cause blur. Set the defaults and everything to manual if you can, Then focus, you can always make the other changes later without effecting the focus - but if it has auto focus then its not a regular varifocal or fixed lens?

Dahua Stand Alone DVR. Hard Drive is extra as with all. Im using an old 80GB SATA on the 4 channel, get 1 week recording no problem. The 16 channel geting over a month (since it was setup) with 2TB continuous record @ D1. Their D1 is actually 704x480. VGA or Composite Output, HDMI on model for a couple bucks more. Motion, Continuous, Schedule Record, etc Network viewing with IE Browser, Windows or Mac Client program. D1 Live and Record Resolution 30fps D1 on channel 1, 7fps D1 on all other channels, or 30fps CIF on all channels. Records to DAV file type but can convert to AVI using their software. I just use my computer over the router to do everything on it now as I only have 1 monitor here. YES it is budget but blows away others in price range even sub $400 DVRs and many big brands. And recall Im coming from 3 years of Geovision DVRs and several years of GE/Kalatels. No it doesnt have the Geovision features, but also I cant stick a Geo PC in a hot utility room. Also sold under Intellicam USA (same model with HDMI and Alarms) but more expensive. Also sold under a Q-see model, also more expensive. Purchased through Miami Distributor under their name, XTSVideo. This is the model with HDMI, actually I have this one, but its the same as the cheaper model but with HDMI and Alarms. This is like $50 more. You will pay around $250 retail for the cheaper model, or around $300 for the HDMI model (both with HDDs). But since we were talking about building systems thats why I mentioned what I get them for to compare. I dont think its a secret anyway, that I will get them cheaper than retail. http://www.dahuasecurity.com/product_det.aspx?ID=675&p=cpyzc&p_kind=3&c_kind=262&c_kind2=&c_kind3= some sample videos here, 3 of them listed from this Dahua DVR: http://www.bahamassecurity.com/samples/videos/ or go here if you cant access the facebook videos (youtube compresses them more though) http://www.youtube.com/user/BahamasSecurity

I dont know what that is in US dollars? But going by their US site its the same in US dollars. Actually I can build a much faster computer for less. But still, I get a 4 channel DVR for $130 no extra licences needed and cheap cameras can be put on it. 16 channel for under $400 with great live video quality, no client needed. All in one, no building, OS loaded and ready, plug and play. Sure it doesnt have all the features of even a PC Based DVR like Geo, but it has all the features most clients need.
