Thats normally the DDNS Glad it works

    DVR Remote Access

I dont know what MNS is, nor the other. I use telnet myself. But to test to see if you can connect from outside the local network, you need to do the tests from outside the network, or use a service online to do that for you, such as the websitepulse link I posted above, which checks from their location to see if the IP and port is open.
  3. ok so forget remotely for right now, locally can you connect to any of the ports using telnet or another program from another PC on the network? If not, are you sure the Windows firewall or another firewall is not blocking the ports or server? I see you have Nortons AND McAfee on there. Nortons might be the culprit but also make sure the Windows firewall is disabled or the ports are opened in it - nortons will normally take over that area and use its own firewall though.
  4. check to make sure there is not a start button for the server .. or web server.

    cheap cameras and interference

Yeah he needs a good caning Now its a slight, SLIGHT possibility he doesnt even know he is selling clones. He might have got an email like we all do from some hong kong based distributor advertising Geo and Kodicom cards - btw Kodicom cards are a dead giveaway that a store has cloned cards, as Kodicom dont sell cards like that - or maybe he searched them out. If he never knew to begin with or never asked or they never told him (course they wont LOL) he might be right there thinking they are really Legit cards. But he should do a little more research before he sells something, its like saying someone was selling a certain drug but didnt know they were illegal because the dealer they bought it from didnt say it was Better yet, perhaps send an email to Geovision and see if they would report back that its a clone, then forward that to Ebay? Though still not sure this is causing the problem you are having, as the other cameras are working fine. Probably just cheap bad cameras picking up some interference from the PC.
  6. Ok so those ports are definately open and going to a server. Next is to find out why the software wont connect. Does it give any user/password error?

    cheap cameras and interference

LOL yeah thats definately not a Geo
  8. Found it ... Best, Christopher i like that power connector, could be useful for bullets and domes with that type of power lead. though it seems some of the new bullets are even using the same kind that CNB uses, which is nice, even a cheap $30 color IR bullet I have here has that.

    CNB DVR

Oh yeah one nice thing about the CNB is the remote software has the timeline search feature, not available in the one I mentioned above: eg.

    DVR Remote Access

It could be anything as long as from 192.168.0.2-192.168.0.255 192.168.0.150 is safe incase the router doesnt allow forwarding outside the router's DHCP range which is typically from 100-150 192.168.0.1 is ofcourse the router's IP. And dont use IPs already assigned to another computer. I generally just use .200 and above.

    CNB DVR

Just because something has H.264 doesnt mean its better Ive been testing an H.264 DVR from a distributor that brings in DVRs from the same manufacturer that Intellicam uses. So far its not bad, unlike the CNB it has 7fps D1 on all channels, including the most basic 4 channel slim line unit, which is the one im testing here. The CNB also can do that but depends on the model and its much more expensive, also it seems to be minus mobile software if that matters to you - just going by the specs ofcourse as I havent used the actual CNB models. Example of Remote Client Software: The Intellicam software is basically the same just with their logo instead. Example of Browser Application: (using IE tabs in Google Chrome for the ActiveX)
  12. Probably better off with some IP cams with some software to record to AVI using built in Windows codecs .. though the compression might not be so great, not 100% sure about that.

    cheap cameras and interference

Yeah thats as fake as they come. version 8.2 is older software, its up to 8.3.4 or even higher now. All new cards will come with at least 8.3.4 now. Also resolution is only 640x480 max, while Geo has always been 720x480 since Ive used it a couple years back from version 7.0. And lastly it only has Wavelet and Mpeg 4, that dates back to the 6.0-7.0 days, infact I dont even recall if Geo ever had Wavelet codecs. Either way its had Mpeg4 and H.264 at least from version 8.0. Did your box and card look like that in their picture? Basically at that price either it is an old second hand card or its fake.

    CNB DVR

I dont have a CNB but Ivr used one from a company in the US that distributes a DVR from the same manufacturer of CNB's DVR - Indigo (Korea). I even used CNB's remote software for it as theirs is much better than the one that comes with the DVR! I like the remote software, the local software is probably similar to what Ive used on this other one, which is not bad. However, the big con of the INDIGO DVRs is the recording is slow, and the network video is slow also - good quality though. That said, its possible the CNB might be a little different, but going by the specs of the CNB DVRs thats probably how they are.

    DVR Remote Access

can you connect at the location?
  16. I would try to sell the card off at cost, it will still work for someone else's application. Maybe look at Geovision, they save files in AVI format - however, any one you get it will always be encoded using their codecs, so the user will still need the codecs on their PC, or as in the Geovision's case it can create an EXE which installs the codecs first then opens the video file.
  17. Qsee is sold all over the web by many different stores as well as local stores all over the US. Cant say I ever had the pleasure of using them though ... doubt I ever would either. $1600 seems a little high for them though, seen them online for much less, most are consumer based items. Did you get their best package for that price? Anyway, what is it not doing that you want it to do? Seems they are a USA based company, so could always make a complaint to the better business bureau. http://www.q-see.com/q-see-company/contact-q-see.php

Clones are brown box, copied booklet, and white burned DVD/CD. If you got it from ebay anyway, its almost no question its a clone, especially if it was cheap. (though some sell 2nd hand ones there at low cost also) basically here is an example of a legit card, minus the popcorn stuff:
  19. CNB have WDR cameras also, the Blue-i models. Not sure on the exact part numbers though and cant say how well they actually work but there are tons of videos of them on youtube, some good some bad. If you tried the VBM or VCM 24Vf did you try adjusting the SBLC settings?

    IP Camera Supported List

Yeah well if they want to compete they need to speed up their software, its like they developed it on a super computer ... exaq software is working on slow computers with atom cpus, something geo would have great difficulty doing as it currently is. Also far as I know they never needed a dongle for their cameras?
  22. I dont know the software or the cameras in question, but make sure the Windows firewall either has the ports open in that or is disabled. Make sure you can connect locally to those ports, from a Windows XP machine on the same local network, goto start, run, type CMD, then type telnet IP PORT and hit enter .. where the IP is the NVR's IP and the port is one of the 8000-8004 ports. A blank screen means its connected (sometimes with some characters), if it says cannot connect then there is an issue, perhaps the ports are not correct, or the firewall is blocking them. Once you have it working locally then port forward to the IP and the ports and test with something like this: http://www.websitepulse.com/help/gadgets.server-test.html

    cheap cameras and interference

Also the monitor needs less of a signal to get an image, if the signal is bad normally there will be other issues but this could still be related. I would also redo the video connectors or change them for some totally different ones from another store even. I recently got some connectors that were just bad no matter what I did with them. Make sure the power cable and supply is enough for these new cameras, make sure they dont draw more current than the older ones. Also what size is the monitor you are testing it on? If its really small you might not even see the lines compared to a larger PC monitor. And did you try replacing these new cameras with one of the old ones, or vice versa, to make sure there is no interference on the line. The cameras may not be isolated, and neither the power supply. Try a different power supply. EDIT. I see you said you tried most of this already Please provide a list of: 1-Cable type 2-Cable Distance 3-Power Supply type 4-Video and Power connection type 5-Camera model of new and old cameras 6-Were these new cameras, new? The DVR is also worth looking at but that gets much more detailed, so need to start with the basics. They could just be bad cameras.
