    Slight Distortion in Video Feed

Doubt that... dual-voltage cameras would just be making that same conversion internally. Yeah but these are just cheap eclipse cctv cameras? Or different site different cameras? Im thinking maybe its a mix of the converter used along with the camera, either way its not a normal way to do it so it has to be added to the list of suspects for the lines. I wish him luck, if its a distance issue then the cameras should be 24VAC one time (or dual voltage such as the CNB 24VFs), if its not a distance issue then power them all with 12VDC if they are 12VDC cameras or use 24VAC cameras, that would make the most sense IMO. Should check the cable also to make sure it is not run near any high voltage.
  2. Still looks too dark for me, its like a color camera minus the chroma. Any CCDs coming out with real low light sensitivity?

Your going 24VAC then converting to 12VDC? Perhaps thats the problem?
  4. Looks like a knock off Anykeeper / ISIS / Magic Radar card. Though it could be any generic card. Also it might have come out of a custom DVR system. The RCA is yellow so that should be video out. Put it in a computer and see if there is any identifiable information in the device section.

also try isolating the camera power, plug them in with individual power supplies and see if that helps. Alrtronix sell Isolated 24VAC 16 channel power supplies. What type of cable are you using? If you plug a camera in direct to a monitor bypassing the DVR what happens?

    Unknown CCTV System

I wouldnt even waste my time on it these days, even for a multiplexer its a cheap one at that. You would be better off with even the cheapest 4 channel DVR you can find, at least you have some kind of recording and in most cases network options also.

    Counterfeit GV-1480 cards?

I wouldnt worry about it really, at that price it has to be legit, or like i said they are making a killer profit.

    Counterfeit GV-1480 cards?

No peanuts for mine either, but the disk should be similar. How do you mean different? Anyway, when you get back let us know plz. Though I think it is legit anyway.
  9. Yeah it was a newer card, but 8.3 was a totally new version of software, for example cards that came with 8.3xx only work with 8.3+. There were alot of changes to the way Webcam worked also. In fact from 8.2 things started going downhill. Unless you need the IP software or Mobile phone upgrade then I would look at sticking to 8.1.2 as that was a solid release, I have those in the field still going strong. 8.3.3 and 8.3.4 both still have bugs by the way, 8.3.0 was even worse though. Although if you have a nice fast PC then they should be fine, biggest bug I found was related to Remote Viewlog and the address book, being that it is missing. 8.3.1 for example did not have the same problem. I have 8.3.3 and 8.3.4 systems out there as well though.
  10. I have the complete 7.05 if you want it, its 157mb ZIP file though so will take a little time to upload it.
  11. It should be an Nvidia or Intel Chipset, I believe I had a SIS chipset working one time also. I would load XP 32bit and see if that makes a difference. I would also not use 8.3.xx unless you need to for some reason, its much slower than the 8.1.xx versions as it is designed on much faster hardware, 8.1.2 being my favourite but cannot run on the new cards. 7.0 card can upgrade to 8.1.2 but it will need to do a firmware update, not sure whether the 8.3.4 firmware update caused any problems with it. As mentioned check the NTSC/PAL setting. if you have another PC try it in that first. I have 7.x here locally, could upload it somewhere, though I originally found it on a google search. EzCCTV.com might have it also, its free registration.

Do you have a photo of the box and book etc? thanks
  14. I stopped doing burglar alarms after 6 years of it to go into CCTV, as I just felt alarms were not doing the job. I mean my main cause for entry into the inudustry was not for a deterrent though, it was like this and as bad as it might sound Ive seen it happen too much here, but basically If someone kills me then i would at least want it to be video recorded which will stand more chance of the suspect being captured and paying the price as well as not to be able to do it to anyone else again. Too many times the cops come too late, after the fact. Although with a well placed alarm system such as beams around the yard, along with cameras, and ofcourse weapons, perhaps even a phone with the cops on speed dial (like to come pick up the criminal's body afterwards), then they all work together brilliantly.

  17. Thats awesome, and thats what I was talking about
  18. Thats what im saying. Right now I have to run to my computer and open up the AvTech Video Server-E program and enter my password and login to view the video when I hear a noise .. because my other monitor went bad. Its a PITA and I wouldnt want a client to have to that unless thats really what they wanted. Sometimes before I can even login someone is banging at my door or staring in my window, I started to revert back to old school and just grab a weapon and run to the Window and look for now .. its quicker! But even that doesnt always work as someone stole my shoes (which were outside drying) one night out of site from the Window and time as I logged on to look at a camera in that area they had already walked away with them!

    can not run VideoViewer

I am using version 0.1.6.6. You should install the application as there are other dependency files outside of the application's path The error you are getting is not from a registry issue, it is from a missing or unregistered file. For example if your system32 folder is missing the Avtech's AVC_LIVE.DLL file you will get the exact error you posted above. In fact with Windows XP you can also copy the DLLs to the applications folder and it will typically work, however it is only advisable with the software's proprietary files, not any shared DLLs as this can cause issues with other software that depend on them. But the registry locations are: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AVTECH HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Video Viewer If these exist, you can safely delete them and the Video Viewer application will still work. I would remove them incase there is any conflict from an older version. Check the setup log in the Video Viewer's application folder, that shows you what is needed. For example, this is the log from my setup, minus the application folder stuff which you already copied. Files copied to the system32 folder during setup if they do not exist: Copy File: C:\WINDOWS\system32\AVC_H264.dll ... OK Copy File: C:\WINDOWS\system32\AVC_JPEG.dll ... It should run without the registry keys as I deleted mine and it still runs without error - at least the live viewer.
  20. So back to my original question, before the late night comedy crowd entered, what did you find the CPU usage to be when using some of the MP cameras in live video on the Atom PCs?
  21. Since Alex gave you a good laugh... it's only fair that you gave me one with this. yeah the rich people, you know, not the poor people Also I have no idea who Alex is, but Im glad were all having a good laugh over this. IT closet in the average home, LOL, does that come with a panic room also?
  22. Thats such a ridiculous statement that its actually funny, thanks for the laugh.
  23. Well you have clients with IT closets so .. majority of CCTV clients in the world dont have that though, mostly just the rich people. Also I cant see someone sitting in the living room wanting to get up to goto the room where their computer is and turn the computer on and login to see the video when they hear a noise, while it could be right on the TV for example, or another monitor in their office or bedroom.
  24. Im not missing anything, thanks. It was already clarified that I was talking about viewing live video on the server as we do with all other CCTV systems. As mentioned most clients dont want to have to turn on another computer at the location to view the live video.
  25. What was the CPU usage at? Ive tried HD video on several atom PCs and it was not good results. Server only CPU is about 5% Yeah I meant with live video running on it though, so with Exacq that would be the client i guess.
