Divis 'security check error'
rory replied to Dirk_D's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Yes GV gives you a player if you choose the Backup option, but it still has to install the codecs as I mentioned, it does this at each run, though the initial run is all that matters. If you save as AVI it does not give a player or codecs, though it does have another option to save as an EXE which auto installs the codecs, so it will then play in Windows Media Player. I was only trying to give you an other option as a workaround. As you can see from the following link, I use all options - obviously the backup with the EzViewLog player is the most common. viewtopic.php?f=36&t=9745 My understanding was you were trying to play these with Windows Media Player? Thats why I went the direction of installing codecs, as to playback raw video files recorded on a DVR in Windows Media Player, codecs must be installed somehow - in most cases. This DVR has no player software? When you backup, does it not give any other options? Anyway .. can you try run whatever player you are using in Windows XP Compatibility mode? Doubt that will help though as it sounds like you are just trying to play the recorded files in Windows Media Player, and that way will require codecs to be installed - which is why it alerts you to download the codecs. It sounds like the only option to get what you want, is to get some new software for each DVR that will send a player with the backup which automatically installs the codecs. I may be wrong .. but I think AT cards might be hikvision? If so, you could look around for other software as there are a few that work with Hikvision cards - but you might not want to go that route either. -

Yeah but what I am saying is as long as you will be playing it back on another computer, the codecs need to be installed on that other computer regardless of the DVR software on the DVR, either automatically by the playback software if the DVR supplies one, or if using Windows Media player, someone will have to initially install them. If you want to just play them in Windows Media Player, then will need to manually install them, as the DVRs custom codecs dont come with Windows nor Windows Media Player. This is the same for GeoVision and other DVRs. Some DVRs will convert it when you select to save as AVI. For example, this is what I did for Geovision evidence sharing: viewtopic.php?t=9760 Geovision has a player software that is created with the video when backed up, and that auto installs the codecs when it is run on another computer, but this was another option to just use Windows Media Player. -
Is USB DVR suitable for my PC application?
rory replied to trivissindo's topic in Digital Video Recorders
There is no windows desktop software version at that link, so no it wont work. Ive used a USB CCTV DVR, 4 channel, which was okay but it is very basic, doubt it has any mobile software. Its the cost, to keep it such low cost they leave out alot of features, plus they are mostly all direct show and CIF recording. -

Normally, such as with other DVRs, you will need to install the codec on the PC you want to play it on. Once it is installed then it should play in Windows Media Player without any issue. Easiest thing to do, if they dont have a codec installer, as long as they have an ActiveX, get that installed on the users computer. You can download it manually by checking the source of the webpage and then just use the file name after the website address and / Once downloaded using something like Winrar you should be able to extract it, then install the Inf file by right clicking install. Some activeX cab files may actually contain a separate installer just for the codecs. Also if they have a remote client or playback software, that should also install the codecs. Additionally, even if you arent installing the card, the DVR card main software would install any codecs, so you could install that if you have it and just dont run the software. If you still have no luck or find the above too much, let us know a link to the software and or link to grab the activeX. -
Never heard of it until now, checking it out. CNB also sell DVRs, OEMed to them, havent personally used them but seems they are Indigo DVRs.
-
CNB getting lots of free advertising from this forum LOL. But they do have a decent product at a lower cost. Also, I wish they would hurry up and get the Blue-i domes and true day night monalisa bullets in the US .. a blue-i bullet would be nice too

I can access the OSD. Go into each sub menu, and the top menu, and set each initial, thats the defaults. incase someone messed with it. Or check the iris levels and brightness etc.
-
Dont need TDN for an indoor nanny cam.
-
Can you access the OSD at all using the button? Or is it completely dead?
-
Anyone tried the CNB DVR cards?
rory replied to rory's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
So .. anyone used these yet? The price is really good ... If I had a US credit card I buy it myself but im waiting for someone else to buy and try it first -
Looks like it might be a simple issue after all I went through .. the hard drive. Tested it with my USB 5400rpm drive ... didnt get the problem. Then tested it again with the main hard drive, got the problem. Did this several times, changing the recording path back and forth. Then changed the drive to an old 80GB sata one I had here, no problem, that I could see. I still wonder why it doesnt do it in 8.3.1 but does in 8.3.3 and 8.3.4 Also I ran several tests on the drive and they came back okay. And its really quiet, cool, and the OS otherwise runs fast. Anyway .. the main hard drive was brand new, but OEM. Its the first time I used this particular one, its the Western Digital AV drive. So I just bought a new one, only one I could get here right now, a Western Digital Blue 500GB .. will see how that is. It cost me $115 local.

WEBRO BSKYB TWIN SATELLITE CABLE For CCTV Cameras
rory replied to bornnslippy's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Because its aluminum shielding. It may work and for short distances, but it stands the chance of image distortion. Have I used similar cable before? Sure, RG6 CatTV Cable, on my first jobs, some cameras have been perfect, short distances, others have had strange ghosting on occasion. Even here at my own appt I used it once as thats all I had at the time, but switched it out for the right cable once I had the cash. "Although coaxial cable with aluminum shielding provides 100% shielding, it should only be used for RF cable television (cattv) and master television (mattv) signals used for home video cable reception. This aluminum-shield type should never be used for CCTV for two reasons: (1) it has higher resistance, and (2) it distorts horizontal synchronization pulses. The added resistance-approximately seven times more than that of a 95% copper or copper-clad shield-increases the video cable loop resistance, causing a reduction in the video signal transmitted along the cable. The higher loop resistance means a smaller video signal reaches the monitoring site, producing less contrast and an inferior picture. Always use a good-grade 95% copper braid RG59/U cable to transmit the video signal up to 1000 feet and and RG11/U to transmit up to 2000 feet. Distortion of the horizontal synchronization pulse causes picture tearing on the monitor, depicting straight-edged objects with ragged edges." http://books.google.com/books?id=DaQY8CrmqFcC&printsec=frontcover&source=gbs_ge_summary_r&cad=0#v=onepage&q&f=false -
Its non polarized, so you can connect the red and black either way to the green connector. I made the mistake with the first camera as I was in a rush and could not find a + and - on the green connector, and just cut the cable and joined it together, but after reading the manual more carefully it states its non polarized and hooked the other 2 up to the green connectors. That said I am using the VBM not the VCM but it should be the same, as was the other CNB IR Dome I have here.

Looks nice, though Id like to see that 200' of IR in action please Dont worry, im not just picking on you, pretty much hardly any manufacturers show their IR in action .. except maybe the really expensive ones like Extreme and Raytec, but even then its still limited. Also I doubt that would work as a Nanny cam, 200' of light will likely burn the poor baby's eyes out! And avsipcctv should use spell and grammer check .. there are countless mistakes on that page

http://www.dyndnscommunity.com/questions/4974/linksys-wrt120n-ver-1-0-0-1-badagent might be that you have too many accounts with DynDns, or the router is updating too much and they flagged it as a bad one

im having someone order some wall mounts, though the US sites dont carry the models on the CNB sites, it seems to be an older model, will see how they work out. The good thing about them is the dome is then not directly hit by the rain at least from above, so it should not get quite as dirty or hit as hard, it kind of protects it some more. BTW the ceiling mount VBM dome looks like it is actually smaller when mounted than the flush mount option, but the flush serves too purposes. My only question with the wall mounts was if there was room in that to make the connections, seems there is, guess will see when they arrive.

depending on the current draw of the 2 domes, if its not much as with most basic new domes, then just run an 18awg wire, like lamp cord wire. Remember 12VDC cant go that far also, compared to 24VAC, and if the camera is dual voltage with IR sometimes it can draw alot more current in 12VDC.

maybe they werent proud of their job?

Never heard back from USAvision so contacted the Taiwan support yesterday, no news yet. Until I get this fixed I cant suggest a Geo card to any clients.

Define indoor low light? if all the lights are off it might be pitch dark, and then you will need some kind of light either way, Infrared or Visible light. For example I installed the DFL-20s the other day, but when they are closed its pitch dark, so its useless in that case.
