  1. DIY cable .. More prone to damage and interference as well as limited to shorter distances. Not to mention it is not the best cable to use when using a distributed power supply. Ive worked with them but I would never suggest anyone use them.
  2. BTW was just testing an old exview bw bullet with an EX26 IR illuminator someone gave me .. thought i would post the results. excuse low quality, due to network capture from Avtech DVR.

    Foggy night image

if it clears up then its condensation. if it doesnt, and you clean inside and outside, or dont see any water at all inside it either, then could be a bad chip. I just had a bullet camera like that, no water inside at all, but looked like it had a big blob of water on 80% of it .. even gutted it and changed the lens to no prevail. Cheap camera so just replaced it.

    CNB made in china??

Ok thanks for the clarification D&C, that makes sense now then When I saw the Made in China, and Ive seen similar "looking" models on at least one Chinese manufacturer site I was like .. hold on a second Any idea on their DVRs though, seems they OEM them, as its the Indigo boards and software? Indigo is Korean anyway though so ..
  7. CNB should have the same feature, not sure how or if it works and dont see it on their remote playback, used the software from both and I did notice the Vsionis one has that option on remote playback. BTW here is the CNB remote CMS playback: Here is the Text search for the Vsionis (I think), its called Text In Search:
  8. Sell it and get something that works?

  11. So although its on a separate network range, it still goes out on their other network and over their regular internet connection for remote access, or is it separated? But in my case I guess Im just asking really if I can just connect it to a router and then to the cable modem like a regular switch? In that case would a 4 channel version be better, and if so do they have a decent 4 channel router like this with similar features? thanks.
  12. For the internet do you just connect them to a standard linksys router, or does this have the features built in for that?
  13. Do Raytec make them for Axis, or vice versa? It would seem they might OEM to Axis? Is it any cheaper or better to buy the ones from Axis? im actually interested in the Raytec IR LEDs anyway .. will post a thread on that in the next couple days Raytec makes them for Axis thanks .. im done with extreme's IR (bosch) .. and i see the raytecs seem much lower current also .. will start a new thread though .. got some questions .

    gv customize, background?

    Its the Desktop background.
  17. perhaps install the K-lite codec pack and see if that fixes it. Choose not to install the Media Player Classic though, use custom setup for that, set or keep the default player to Windows Media Player. This may even resolve the thumbnails issue, as it has the Haali Media Splitter included which has an option in its configuration to use its thumbnail extraction for explorer instead of the default Windows one - not sure if it runs on Win 7 but It does work on XP. http://www.codecguide.com/

    BMP Resolution

yeah Geo lets you change the overall resolution and then change each camera's resolution individually.
  20. Strange as it works for me, its the same video viewer software used with AvTech DVRs. I didnt try leaving it on for 30 minutes though.
  21. Its typically for AvTech products, and I also dont know why anyone would want to, the software is not that good. Though i see it is also used for a TP-links IP camera as in another thread posted recently. Maybe they are the same company or source the same boards etc.
  22. No, its typically only for certain AvTech products. Though there maybe some other Video Viewer software you are talking about, this is the most common. I did see it is also used by another company that has some IP webcams.
  23. funny this thread should come up right now .. i just got thrown into fixing a job where outdoor cameras were just dropping off one by one till there were 6 cameras down .. out of 12. All Made In China cameras just for information. One camera was a turret Color IR dome mounted on the side of an eave .. ofcourse it got hit hard .. anyway it was full of water and actually though it was vandal resistant I didnt have the tiny little alan key on me and i just twisted and rocked it a little until it came off LOL. Not even sure if it was weather resistant (didnt see any rubber rings) but gutted it and the boards were fried inside. It was actually mounted sideways so it took alot of heavy rain. BTW Cable and power good as a test camera works fine there. Another camera, a Color IR bullet Camera .. also had water and showed it on screen with fogging up from condensation, was shorting out after a while so disconnected and it seems no burnt parts inside .. caught it in time. With that one a truck had took out a power line on the lamp pole which is next to the pole this is mounted on which then knocked this camera, as it got knocked its cable dug into the metal pole the cable goes into, exposing a gash in its cable just in the back of it (no short from the exposed wire though). This seems to have loosened up where the cable goes into the back letting water into it. Oh well .. it needs a little caulk and cable work but should be good to go. BTW otherwise the coax cable is good. Another camera, Color IR bullet .. its on the roof but the roof is surrounded by razor wire .. guess they put that up after the camera was mounted! Anyway standing on the top of a ladder trying not to fall into the rusty razor wire I could not see any water in it BUT they had the DIY cable they had used, instead of coax, connected with RCA connectors exposed to the elements .. didnt even notice any electric tape over them .. the connections were just strapped to the wooden pole just below the camera. Oh well .. once I can get past the razor barbed wire should be an easy fix .. bad connectors hopefully, perhaps run new cable and mount a box also! Another camera .. yet another color IR camera (6mm 1/4" lens from the looks of it) well it also was down but had no water in it, mounted to a wooden pole again .. got to it tip toeing on top of an 8 foot ladder .. got rid of the connectors and it was good to go. Funny thing is the connectors in that case were in a weatherproof gang box which was covered in caulking .. however the box inside was literally full of insects so obviously there was exposure. Anyway customer happy it works, one less to replace. Hmmm .. 2 other cameras .. Panasonic WDR DN Box in a housing .. the cable going to it was never run properly and actually at part of it was exposed as there was no conduit .. it had been cut and both ends had been sitting in the mud for months .. so obviously need to run an entirely new cable and condiut and properly this time. The other, GE Day Night Box camera .. works fine as I took it down .. metered and toned cable which is bad .. someone did some work and dug up the area where the conduit was and then put the dirt back .. so damaged cable/conduit there also. Anyway .. the point of this little story was that although these are all cheap Color IR cameras, it was not really the cameras fault in this case!
  24. wait a sec ... the acti is in a different location?
  25. Doesnt look right ^^ Im sure thewireguys or bullwinkle can assist though as ive seen their images and they were much much better.
