I dont think the CNB motion detection feature does anything more then show motion on the camera itself. Someone asked about that here before and thats what they said CNB replied with. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=21503&p=128732

maybe try switching the cameras around, if the problem camera is say camera 3 then move it to camera 1 instead.

Recommendation for a DVR replacement please.
rory replied to vsector's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Depends on the DVR but all I have seen have been more compressed and lower quality. they normally each have their own customized version of H.264. -
depends on the camera but most just show detection on the camera and has no effect on the DVR motion recording which is based on the video, while some might have a hardwired output to use to connect to the DVR for alarm recording.

You do if you read more than the first sentence: I was going by this post:

I believe you can buy surge protectors for the video side of it, never had to do that myself though. Down here it is always power related and we dont plug anything in without a good voltage regulator, some UPS have AVR (automatic voltage regulation) built in, many cases I still add it separate. This isnt exactly lightning alley though ..

I was just going by what she posted, she just said they just told her to take them down. Maybe we dont have the full story. And yes she is doing what she didnt want him to do, but he started it
-
They are morons for just telling her to remove the cameras, they are supposed to treat her the same as others and just tell her to adjust it so it is not looking at his property. Ofcourse they should not be saying anything unless they see the video first to see what the cameras are looking at. Last I checked its not against the law to install cameras on ones property in the UK?

ACTi ACM-1231 Review
rory replied to buellwinkle's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
People WERE discussing the camera's performance, among other things related to the camera and reviews, so yes this thread was a discussion which pretty much stayed on topic. As I said if one wants exact info on a camera one should visit the manufacturer's website. Believe it, accept it, or move on. -

This isnt a camera review website, this is a discussion forum. For camera info please goto the manufacturer's website. -
Hi Tom Depends what software comes with it. also has to be located in the US. Thanks, Rory

Sounds like the police there are morons. Just adjust the camera so it doesnt look at his property, they cant stop you from having a camera on y our property, sue them if they try!

anyone ever seen this kind of thing before? All our land lines and cell phones are down, completely! been this way all day now ... its island wide. Imagine this .. nobody can take cheques or credit cards now as authorization here is all done over the phone lines!

Hey any chance can still get hold of these cards? I have a client that doesnt mind a 2nd hand card to replace another old card. Thanks, Rory
-
Cant seem to find a microatx card down here that has room for the card other then with the 16x slot. Anyone know if that would still work? Thanks.

Anyone plugged the PCI-E DVR card into a PCI-E x16 slot yet?
rory replied to rory's topic in Geovision
Im using Micro ATX boards .. I just tried it on a gigabyte board and apart from it being very loose as the slot is too big and it does not lock in, I got bad video quality and stuttering so I am going to switch it now for a board with a PCI-e x1 that fits the card. This mobo was orderd before i realized the DVR card would not fit as the PCI-e x1 card will go over the memory. So basically it seems to does work, somewhat, how well it works must depend on the motherboard perhaps. -
easy solution also, plug another camera into the cable for one of the cameras .. if that works then the cameras are toast. Another thing to look at is whether the Cat5 baluns are good. Also it could be possible it was not lightning but a power surge or brownout. Is the power supply you used fused? Its still possible the power supply could take more then the cameras, especially if they are cheap cameras. Was the power supply plugged into any kind of voltage regulation? A UPS doesnt automatically mean it has Voltage Regulation.

Already off to a bad start.
rory replied to New Orleans Computer's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Most DVRs these days include some kind of motion detection recording. -
I think you've got the wrong culprit there, rory - tripled-up 24ga. should give you better than the equivalent of 18ga. Nope that was the problem, trippling it up doesnt make it good enough in this situation, switching the cable to 18awg fixed the problem - as i said, it worked fine in the day, but soon as the IRs kicked in, dead - BTW that camera draws around 1.5-2amps when the IRs kick in. In fact we even spoke to the Canadian Manufacturer, Extreme CCTV, and they verified this which made us change the cable and hence fixed the problem.
-
i would say email them, although they are linked on the left here other than that they have nothing to do with this forum.
-
i tripled up cat5 before to power an Extreme CCTV EX80 and it didnt work at even just 50', at night it would die. Changed out the cable to 18/2 and it worked fine. Just an example, thats why I never power anything with thin cable like that.
-
ive never had a problem with lightning as far as the dvr goes, guess depends where you live though.
-
Ive had problems powering certain cameras with 22awg doubled up before (i have tons of it here for alarm systems) and had to run new wire, so if it were me Id stay clear of it and just use 18awg wire or lamp cord wire. Better yet, id just use siamese one time.
-
what are you powering with 22awg wire? station-z is 22awg right?
-
thanks survtech ill take a look at it ... they do have some software on the stretch site it seems ... not sure what it is though. EDIT. nah still cant find any real info on it .. no screen shots nothing, just talk of an SDK.
