    Google Apps

i just throw my stuff on my website if i need to access it remotely, but i dont like the idea of others having my personal data or business files so i rarely upload anything like that and when I do its encrypted .. otherwise all my important stuff is secured locally and in safety deposit in a bank, i always have 3 copies in different locations just incase. Also I have all the apps I need myself so I dont need google's
  2. no idea about that one but most will sell you an option of a portable DVR .. some with SD cards. Some might be wireless also to a DVR. Or you could plug them into a laptop or network then view the recorded video from there.

got me .. i searched 150 odd pages on alibaba and not one was this.
  5. although i use the clear silicone also, it is hard to work with and remove, if you want something easier maybe just get the basic white caulking with water cleanup, just do it really neat and you should not even notice it.

I thought the same at first .. but this one looks a little different. note how the lens is pushed forward away from the IR LEDs, looks like its in its own little weatherproof compartment, the chip has to be close behind it. Imagine that is done in this case to prevent both bugs and ir reflection over the lens itself, and get the sunshield out of the way with a wide angle? I havent seen this type before .. perhaps our chinese friends here could help on this one! Im searching alibaba for it now .. amazing the amount of DUAL CCD cameras coming from the china mainland now .. geez its like dozens of different looking ones ..
  7. I agree that the IP tests can be done as you mentioned, but when testing DVRs and CCTV cameras (non IP) it normally takes hands on physical tests, eg in the case of DVRs, most DVR server software wont run without a card installed. Im just sad that more retailers and distributors dont test their products with day night comparisons, I have recently found just one retailer that is really pushing that now and even have alot of examples on their Youtube account, also it was good to find CNB, a manufacturer, with alot of samples and comparisons on Youtube also - but no real tests though with detailed info. But with non IP cameras .. its going to be mostly people looking to spend less so doubt they would pay a subscription, unless perhaps dealers, but many would not mind ads either. I still feel that would be much easier done by someone located in the US though.
  8. because not being part of a country such as the US or Canada, manufacturers especially those located out of the US, and distributors or reps are reluctant to send anything to this country unless it is paid for up front, in fact in many cases we have to have a US credit card or they wont take our money, most here dont have a US credit card as that means having a US bank account. Additionally not sure if you have the same there but we pay Customs duty on everything that comes here from the US, from 10%-85%, and it doesnt matter if it is listed as FREE, the customs here will look online and put "their" price on it. Then there is the cost of shipping, average $100 for a small item from miami using a freight forwarder which can take anywhere from 1-2 weeks to reach, so that would be 2 ways when we have to send it back. But once again, the manufacturers just wont send us demos like that to begin with. So yes we could do it, but we would have to pay for the item and shipping and duty and then especially in the case of IP cameras have a really hard time trying to sell that down here due to the end user cost. Would need ALOT of money to do something like that and just sit on the products or throw them away when finished testing. Additionally IP cameras have their market but CCTV cameras is a much larger market and I would argue that most new purchasing is still geared towards that over IP cameras.
  9. Yeah but isnt that still the US?
  10. What you could do too is caulk around the dome cover and around the base once its been mounted and adjusted. In some cases I caulk around the base of the outdoor domes anyway especially if its mounted sideways on a wall with exposure to direct rain or if the wall is not 100% flat.

    Speco HTINTB8 versus Nuvico CB-HDE21N-L

Yes sorry i posted the wrong video, I meant to post the one you posted. Basically we dont know what type of camera they were comparing it against, could be any old cheap Color IR camera. Also, I dealt with Exview for years which was similar except they did not slow the shutter. One could argue what good is pixelized slow video just to get color, why not clear BW video and add light if needed, such as IR. Think about it like this, the image will be slow under low light, then it will be pixelized. Next we add it to a DVR then slow it down even more and then compress it making it even more pixelized. What real use is that video to us now in a real crime situation? Basically get the right camera for the job if it is that important, I have used IR cameras that would flood that yard in the sample video as if it were daylight, no slowing of the video, no pixelizing in general, ofcourse the price goes up, but that speco is hardly cheap anyway! It was also an ad done by speco.

    Speco HTINTB8 versus Nuvico CB-HDE21N-L

Yes, maybe. Cant really say unless I used them both. Here is a sample video from youtube though for the speco. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tGifADbXFc can find a sample video of the nuvico on a retailers site through google.

    Speco HTINTB8 versus Nuvico CB-HDE21N-L

From the specs, seems the speco uses DSS which slows down the video to achieve better sensitivity under low light, a feature I stay far away from. Ive used another nuvico true day night IR camera before and it was okay but ive used better ones for much less, eg. the CNB and even the Eclipse models. Speco are normally way overpriced as well, I used them for several years when I first started out, they had some good cameras back then. Basically they are both rebadged American brands imported from Asia, so you are paying extra for the name, possibly a longer warranty in the US. If you have alot of light go with a Color only camera, and definately no DSS. If you dont have much light go BW only on the cheap side, or a True Day Night, IR or not - more expensive then a simple Color IR camera. sometimes one needs the IR depending on the location, as do I at my residence for at least one camera, also indoors such as pitch dark rooms at night. Sometimes though the IR doesnt even do anything as the IR can be 50' max anyway (depending on the camera) and in large open areas it can make little to no difference. Also realize that IR cameras can attract bugs and spiders could eventually make their home all over the poor thing.
  14. The Xtsvideo model is cheaper then the Intellicam, probably due to it being a much smaller less known company, from what I can tell it is the same unit from the same manufacturer out of Asia. Not sure if Intellicam has them do something else with the software or not though as I havent actually used theirs.
  15. Like they said, it will work, but for how long is questionable. Maybe a year, maybe a few ... Eventually air and moisture may get into it and possibly corrode it. In the tropics here during the Winter we get damp air. Not sure how it is where you are though.

    GeoVision storage format

This should work for what you need to do. viewtopic.php?t=9761 May need to use the updated EzViewlog from the version you are using if it is newer then 8.1 Basically the EzViewlog is the portable version created when one backs up withing Viewlog on the DVR. It will install whatever it needs to when it is first run. Ezviewlog is a Geovision product, my link just shows how to utilize it. or just use it as an example for how the files are named. Will need to install the Geovision codecs also, EzViewlog does that as well There is also this as another feature for EzViewlog: viewtopic.php?t=14177

    Video Viewer and Email attachments

Hi there, I use both Video Server E, and Video Viewer 0.1.6.1. With the video viewer the area is "remote config", under "general" and "trigger" It should show the frames, frames is the amount of images it sends. What version do you have? Is there a "trigger" option in the remote config?

    Frozen Swann DVR-4 1160

looks like you are going from bad to worse ...
  20. ofcourse this is just hypothetical .. but id run around my yard with a couple machetes chopping up the bushes and trees acting really crazy, then id stand in the road singing old nursery rhymes really loud and out of sync, drinking rum straight from the bottle ... to get him thinking maybe i was crazier then him. that dont work id get a really noisy couple of dogs and put them out in the yard all night so they bark and annoy the crap out of him. Then id set my alarm off all night just to annoy him even more. id play rap music all night long with serious bass. Other then that when he cussed me at my door id cuss him out even stinker until he came over on my property and then id give him a good beating he wouldnt forget .. if it was here id just chap him or cap him at that point .. but in the UK I understand the law is different .. either way self defense as he trespassed but ofcourse id have to drag him into my house to be compliant with the law, maybe slap him up a little more while waiting for the cops!! on a serious note .. he is lucky you are so nice ... he wouldnt last a minute around the wrong person shouting obscenities at them! as for the camera ... cant say .. dont know your laws. to the supermarket .. id cry rape and point the finger at him .. if i was a woman that is hmmm .. I dunno .. maybe im not such a nice person after all ..

    Video Viewer and Email attachments

ok i dont have the same DVR, I have an older IDE one, but using the network viewer software and "remote config", under "general" and "trigger" you can set the alarm to email you, and you set the number of frames, that is the amount of images it will send. Unfortunately it will send 1 email per image though, so if you set it to 4 frames then it sends 4 emails with just 1 single image per email. Additionally it seems to only send a small image in whichever view you have the DVR set to, 1 way or 4 way, and if in 1 way view it does not switch to the camera with motion. At least that is how it is with the Avtech DVR model I have. Also, although it is an HTML formatted email, you can download/open the image attachment without viewing the message in HTML if you like; example, if you have your email reader set to read all messages in plain text for added security.
  22. Like the 4 channel USB DVR adapters, someone asked me to look to see if they exist .. cant find anything so far.

    Video Viewer and Email attachments

Hi check this website, scorpion is a member of this forum and his site probably has more avtech support then avtech itself. http://scorpiontheater.com/videoviewer.aspx I still dont understand your first question though, you say it sends emails, but no images?

My quest on getting a PTZ up and Running

This is the one you mean? http://www.costarvideo.com/products/products.aspx?id=111
  25. I only tried a single camera on that DVR to a 32" LCD in one way view so cant speak for anything larger or multiview, it was crisp like a movie though, and that was from a $200+- camera. Using VGA the quality was not great, but the HDMI was amazing. Are you currently using HDMI? Are you talking about IP cameras or CCTV cameras?
