Vivotek FD8361 Camera Images @ my home
rory replied to lmcgrew79's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
id lower the pool cam down to around 8' and it should be alot better. Either way it seems very high. Thats what I had to do even with the EX82s. Lower the better and give it something within IR range to reflect off of. Or install separate IR. -

the pool cam looks about right for an IR dome .. they dont put out much IR in large open areas like that. Ive put what are normally decent IR bullets up at a pool and it was similar to that, a little more IR though .. but the only thing that really worked for me was the EX82 (not IP) but that kind of IR is not that cheap. Ive used more expensive IR bullets that claim the same or more IR as the EX82 and its not even 1/5 the visibility in the real world app. Maybe try a couple cheap 100' IR LED illuminators, they are inexpensive and although wont flood the area will at least give it some more visibility. You want to try get the IR to hit something, in your case there really is nothing, so try for the pool patio at the farthest end, hard to do without seperate IR or lowering the camera physically. And i would sell the car and keep the truck for the roads down here -

the interior are some nice shots, especially for just a single camera. though ofcourse can do similar with a 4 cam dome ... but the q24 quality looks good otherwise. -
Yeah you will need to look in the source examples which should have C++, VB6, .net samples etc of all the functions and stuff.

got me .. im a windows vb6 developer only .. and dont use those phones i got a netbook i can watch 64 cameras at one time on how about make your own webserver for the DVR .. that just creates the images, if the DVR doesnt already .. then use javascript etc to refresh the images .. sure people would need to install a 3rd party app on their DVR but once its got a small footprint and does the job sure some may want it? theoretically could even use the activeX control but pure c++ would probably be better?
-
interesting but with regular cctv cameras i would see a major loss of quality.

dont know what OS the HP has, but how bout downloading the SDK for the google android OS and making something for that, its sure to take over the iphone and others in time since they are giving the OS source out for free ... and you can develop for android on linux, mac, and windows. but I think the avermedia sdk i had before was more just an activeX control which is only for windows

Dual software on one PC?
rory replied to thazy2's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
computers are cheap now, how about 2? -
its probably the 2-channel card - GV-250-2 The other 2 ports will never work if that is the case.

When was that? DM has always cost alot more then kaletel/ge dvrs since ive been in the biz. There are alot better DVRs then all of those now anyway, coming out of Korea, and for alot less cost. $ wise, DM DVRs have never been more than Kalatel/GE Symdec DVRs. I was nervous having $40K of dvrs ($8K/piece for Symdec 16-chan - dealer cost). BTW, we were talking about the analog cameras, not DVRs. GE top of the line cameras are far more expensive than the top of the line DMs. I was buying and using Kalatel DVRs from the early 2000's and also saw the prices of the equivalent DMs which always came in several hundreds of $$ more. The distributors were always trying to push the DMs on us yet the Kalatels were better and lower cost. Im not talking about Symdec, im talking StoreSafe and DVMRe even the Muxes with DSRs, and comparitable DM DVRs, I imagine that was way before Symdec were introduced. Most likely the DMs were more expensive due to them being imported from the UK. Not to mention the DMs that I did use were not as good as the Kalatel units, I was no fan of the DM's OS, buggy at best, replaced alot of them for that same reason - I believe their OS was on the HDD? At one time it was pretty much only kalatel and DM .. with Kalatel way ahead. I started when they were still doing phone line transmission. As for DM cameras, I recall when they first started to sell them, just rebadged chinese cameras AFAIK, so obviously would be cheaper. GE later went that same route with bullet cameras, overpriced though in their case. Even their "top of the line" cameras went down in price, and quality. IMO neither are a real player anymore, nor have been for a few years.

Need advice on pinhole camera - high res - audio - low light
rory replied to kgdosd's topic in Security Cameras
their color mini cubes arent low light, but you can order the BW mini cubes and that should work for most low light applications. Their lower res 420TVL BW cameras have better low light sensitivity then their 600TVL ones, also the exview (if you can find it) will see even more in low light. For audio, you will need to go separate for that, unless you go with some cheap crappy camera which are the ones that normally have it built in. -

Looks like CNB has the same DVR as the Indigo (also Korean). CNB HDF1212 Going by the user manual everything looks the same, other then the front design. Features such as USB mouse, VGA, and local software is identical. Networking software looks a little different but seems the same features near enough http://www.cnbusa.com/en/html/product/product.php?seqx_prod=1049 priced just a couple dollars more then the Avtech under the CNB name, maybe available in the UK.
-
The Avermedia EB will blow the AvTech away in Image quality locally and especially over the network. Both have evidence sharing limitations though.
-
Sure it can .. check out the Indigo DVRs, distributed by Vsionis in florida. approx the same cost, come with much better network software, much better quality image overall, USB mouse, IR Remote control, VGA or composite out. It has its limitations like all budget 4 channel stand alones, the biggest con being D1 only on 1 channel, but its actually worth the cost IMO. However Im still searching for the perfect little 4 channel.

Is there a way to set up for silent "unattended installs"
rory replied to duckhere's topic in Geovision
Thing is, installing the Geo software is the easiest part, its the time it takes to tweak and setup the system itself as well as the geo settings that can be the pain. If I built enough of them I would automate everything in addition to the current imaging but just dont have that kind business. -
Seen this before when searching axis webcams online .. quite a few kennel sites out there, eg http://www.lapofluxurypetresort.com/petcams.cfm basically can just setup a web application with the embedded video and dynamically load the appropriate port based on the user login corresponding to their pet cam. As everything would be in a database can just log everytime they login and then charge based on that. Whatever you use, get something that is well known, not some unknown camera nobody has ever heard of.

uncompressed with generic codecs are huge .. eg. 800mb file in less then 60 seconds. test out the BT drivers and something like AmCap or vidCap. Good quality but files too large .. can shrink to wmv though from 800 down to 80.
-
Edit. I know that with 8.32 the old version of Simplevue works, perhaps try that with 8.31. I never tested it with that to see if it did or not. I took down that 8.3 version since the older version will now work with at least 8.32 and greater as well as 8.2 and lower, and the 8.3 activeX had alot of issues I would rather stay clear of.

I agree, in fact it is actually common to go 8-ch 60, 16-ch 120, or 16-ch 480/120 especially as the cost can be quite extra. Its rare for someone to do a 4-ch 120 PC card at least in my experience, especially since it can cost alot more then the 30 or 60fps cards. Most going 4 channel are looking for something on a budget, in fact most at least down here just buy the 4 channel basic stand alone DVRs, then if they want 8+ channels move up to the PC based. Also the specified fps is many times based on CIF only, less if D1.

like Brinks compared to the more expensive small alarm business? the point is, there are much much more people that will spend less then there are that will spend more. Not saying thats the way to go, but I know of many businesses operating like that and are doing well. More money equals not operating in the red.

Depends where one lives, the cheapest guy gets the most business here for example. Lower rates equal more jobs equal more money.
