2.0 is really large .. doubtful that it will fit in the dome.
-
Have you tested it with just 1 card? Maybe try 1 card, try it in each PCI-E x1 slot seperately .. may need to reinstall drivers each time. Make sure are using the 8.33 drivers also.

Video Server E and S are 2 different versions of remote video software for AvTech DVRs. As its a stand alone DVR without a standard OS, just put its local IP on the DMZ and see if it works then. Although it is unlikely, your ISP might be blocking those ports. If it still doesnt work after the DMZ then try changing ALL the ports.

Before this forum there were Alarm Forums which people used, this one is geared for CCTV. Most members welcome the technical assistance provided. Also please see this note from the admin of this site posted in November 2003: "cctvForum.com will be a place where professionals and DIY'ers alike can discuss cctv and it's use in security systems. Before installing my first Digital Video System at a retail store, I searched for a site like this to help me in my decision making process. I did not find one place that could offer an unbiased discussion of equipment, platform, camera selection etc.... Hopefully this forum can fill the void." So again, the exact thing you are complaining about is what this forum is all about.

Funny enough I came across some of this cable on saturday, someone ordered it online from an electrical place and imported it themselves. It was a pain to work with, never again. Video did work though. Power cable's jacket splits away though which is a PITA, cheap cable perhaps. Not good for CCTV.

Its going to be difficult if not impossible to find a "decent" system at that price with those specs. Not to mention if you are selling it to a client and need to also make some kind of markup or labour.

Thats what this forum is for, sharing information and technical assistance. It is beneficial to both the DIYer AND the professional.

Its up to you .. but if there is a tropical storm or hurricane that rain can come sideways and might get inside . I would seal it up good. also as mentioned bugs could make a home in there. But you say its all old stuff anyway so if it dies no harm done I noticed with a CNB Bullet cam the other day, it had a small fan which was inside a piece at the back, underneath, had some vents. I imagine it is vented again between the fan the guts, didnt check. Waiting for a hurricane to see how well it holds up

Need help on select a cheap and quality security camera
rory replied to UDXiang's topic in Security Cameras
yeah quite common. first poster asks for products, 2nd one answers with recommendations. usually you find the IP addy is the same for both. getting a lot more people spamming forums instead of the usual bots. 2 different IPs .. both from china though -

I like the WD drives myself, they have the AV models though I havent used those particular ones. -
BTW if you ask me which I prefer, that type in your photo with the 2 separate jackets joined together, or the single jacket with the coax and 18/2 inside it .. i prefer the 2 separate jackets joined together .. easier to split up between the DVR and the Power supply. Also, you sure they advertised that as CCTV cable?

Hi Jack Im not sure what your goal really is here on the forum, but i will welcome you as a courtesy. Just one thing though, regarding your signature: Life is familar with a crime. It need surveillance or get lazy then... Yup,touch yourself... I think the translator messed up big time there!!

first I would make sure they havent installed anything else on the system, also check for malware. Something else might be using up too much memory. Uninstall then resinstall the Geo software (settings and video will remain), then do a database repair.

yeah get some without that .. ive never seen that before anyway.

What's the story with these "Double CCD" Cameras?
rory replied to nsxttt's topic in Security Cameras
Ive seen mostly reputable companies carrying them, Extreme CCTV, the most well known for them and the first AFAIK, now IP camera companies such as Arcont, and ofcourse KT&C sells them and some others. Its typically a high resolution Color only camera, and a separate lower resolution BW camera, the lower resolution is for greater sensitivity under low lighting and better IR pickup. Although today there have been some advancements in True Day Night cameras especially with the newer IR lenses, separating the 2 applications is still the best solution IMO. BUT, it generally comes with a higher cost or a bulkier camera, twice the adjustments, and more to go wrong. Personally I am looking at smaller and easier to install cameras these days, as well as less expensive, so I just stick to the single cameras now. BTW I used the Extreme CCTV (now bosch) EX82's for 10 years, great cameras, just too costly and too much work. It might be marketing hype with some manufacturers, after all what isnt these days, but not all. -
foil shielding? do you mean CatTV cable? If so, I have used it in the past when I first started out but its best not to use that, too many issues can arise. Ive changed alot of the old ones out for RG59 now.
