Its the weekend please give the mobotix users time to reply, its an expensive and luxury product so only a couple of them here They are here though, they will reply! -
i think he wants 12 channels looped out though.
-
Sounds like your best bet might be a 16 channel multiplexer. or you could look for a distribution amplifier.

I will tell you exactly why I dont buy no named stuff or even the smaller OEM brands ... Simple ... I cant trust the specs. By OEM brands I mean the guys that bring in stuff from Asia and stick their name on it. And I dont care about warranty, it doesnt exist to me as to ship it back (even just to the US let alone China!) costs more then the product does in most cases ...

Sure, well, it has to process the incoming video signal and then work on that, shrink it, split it up, etc. How much compression and what it does depends on the DVR though, you are right though its not the same as the recording compression, good point. But it still has to process the live video, from what I have seen with many cheap 4 channels they must be compressing the crap out of them in live 4 way video, the quality is bad in many cases. That could also explain why in a single way view the video is much better quality, almost the same as a direct connection to a TV.
-
The direct connection to the TV is not compressed like with the DVR, among other processing it is doing.
-
I normally dont, but i just split a cable with a T-connector right at the input to the DVR channel on a Geovision PC DVR, and no noticeable issues. Spot monitor was only approx 50' away though.

LOL yeah this one i got now, an old avtech one, i mean it works and it works in 100+ temps, but its so crappy especially the network video and evidence sharing .. i wont even sell it .. gonna change it any day now for something a "little" better and give this to someone for free. Luckily im not the one that buys all the DVRs to test, someone else does .. i just get to test them cause they know i will torture them to see how good they really are
-
make sure the ports are added to the windows firewall.
-
been here done that, time to sell it off for cheap and move onto the next 100 units to test
-
far as I know they are the same exact camera guts, just different housing.

most people still using VGA or DVI -
CIF is 352x240, D1 is 720x480. Regarding cameras, a typical low res camera of say 380TVL may be 510 x 492 pixels. A high res of say 480-600TVL normally would be 811x508 pixels. So if you record in CIF with a low res camera you will still be loosing out. A standard that i use to record in is 640x480, much less recording space and barely noticable difference in quality. H.264 is the compression, its typically lower quality (bitrates) then basic MPEG4 and MJPEG, but smaller file size so longer recordings. Personally I dont use H.264 for recording on DVRs, but I use it for the Remote Video Transmission for faster frames. DVRs will vary on how good its compression and quality is. Everything Soundy said I agree with also

Highly doubtful unless you splice the cables together without any connectors, if you want to hide connections get the VCM model. Or use a weatherproof gang box and mount it to that.

DVR / NVR for Linux or Mac, not simply as an afterthought
rory replied to icansolvetheproblem's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Regarding this part, do the clients have to use IE? If its going to be a newly installed OS can remove IE alltogether pre install and just use the client software, if they must browse the web use something like Google Chrome instead? Also its malware writers in general that target the entire Windows OS not just IE and not just viruses. I havent used or seen anything for linux and CCTV to write home about, but some say Exact Vision have a decent Linux based NVR. Also Hikvision DVR cards apparently work on older versions of Fedora. -
KT&C KPC-VBN190 Color Bullet .. indoors or outdoors OR the CNB DFL-20s dome for indoors only.

Has anyone tried the Auto Tracking PTZ cameras - what Brands
rory replied to crosseyed66's topic in Security Cameras
Geovision has a software/hardware based in their server software that works with specific lower end PTZ along with a single fixed camera. Not sure how it works exactly but seen it in action before and looked okay. IMO its just one more thing to go wrong. -
i would expect most of the big brands are all made in china. what isn't these days. nah .. South Korea, Taiwan ... no names are mostly china.

if its rg6 make sure its not cattv cable, should be copper in and out.

Anyone have experience with GrandEye 5MP 360 degree cameras?
rory replied to akelley's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Mobotix can do Images video and/or audio. You can use SD cards, USB jump drives or hard drives plugged into the camera. So you could hook up a 2TB directly to the camera and get alot of storage!! Would the HDD be NAS or USB or other? Also does that slow down the video and if so by how much? thanks.
