have you tried downloading the activeX manually? If you send me an IP for it I can see what I can do. It may have some crappy script that is keeping it from working in the browser properly. Did you assign it a static IP?
-
I dont know those cameras, but most likely they are color only cameras and have a fixed IR cut filter, meaning they wont see the IR.
-
Sounds like an Avtech DVR. Are both the same OS, and are both trying to connect from a remote location or on the same network?

It turned out to be okay with AGC on etc .. just a little glary though .. but for the app Im using it for. I would not use it again though. Amazingly it did light up the dark area here by me more then the ECL-598HIM did ... but ofcourse at a cost, colors in day are off some. I did a test of the camera using my AvTech DVR but cant get the video off it to show you guys unfortunately .. there is a problem with the date and such it keeps giving an error trying to backup . .. oh well its not that important .. next time

Well, just curious, as I sent you an email 4 days ago, and have not heard back yet, not even a "hey yall, I got your email and I will get back to you as soon as I can" .. nope .. nada .. do you check that email from the contact form on your website, or should we just skip you and go direct to Taiwan? It was only a real basic question .. let me know if you got my back, thanks.

Yeah I here you on that. I just priced up the 4 Geo IP cameras, against a 1480 Rack DVR with 4CNB Monalisa Vandal Domes with Wall Mounts ... the 4 IP cameras come out about $600+ more. But the idea in this case was not to have to add another DVR as they dont have much space left in the rack and they asked to look into the IP cameras.

Yes its a True Day Night with Removable Infared Cut Filter. TDN (ICR) Also you can get the VBM-24VF, same camera without the flush mount option (wall mount only) for alot less. VCM-24VF http://cnbusa.com/en/html/product/product.php?seqx_prod=1073 VBM-24VF http://cnbusa.com/en/html/product/product.php?seqx_prod=1077 -
As you selected EVERYONE to not be able to delete any folders created, now GeoVision will not be able to delete the folders. Which means the recycle mode will not work. Who are you trying to prevent from deleting the folders?

Ok though you mentioned you refused the KT&Cs? So they went back to ST? Does your payment show them, and if so, what does ST say about it? Also, are they asking for payment for shipping them back to you?
-
Im trying to understand .. You paid for the first lot, which at this point were second hand .. if they were to sell them now they would have to sell them for cheap .. Did you pay for the new set, complete price or a difference for second hand to new cameras? Ok so these cameras did not work properly, so they were also sent back, to Spytown or KT&C?

Ive never had a problem from a good (non failing) hard drive causing choppy video. Would need more info, sounds like some other issue, eg. OS, Memory, CPU, etc. The hard drives should be at least 7200rpm drives. Also have you done a speed test on the hard drive yet? BTW, make sure you are using Voltage Regulator and also order Retail HDDs if you can afford it as they come better packaged for shipping, ive had OEMS come bad from the get go, and ofcourse I see HDDs die all the time from lack of power protection (voltage regulator) and also heat. And if you are using Windows 7 now and used to use Windows XP then without a super computer things will be alot slower.

thanks, yes that was the question I was trying to get an answer to Also, you could set each camera individually to a lower quality, eg. set to H.264 and then drop the quality level down, and that should help. BUT, does that also apply to IP cameras?

Thanks. No activeX though It does however work with my old AvTech. But I cant download recorded video as in the Video Server E. I have a problem in the Video Server E though where the date was messed up and now cant get some video from it, no matter what I do. I can play it on the DVR but it comes up as "DVR does Not Contain the data". Any ideas? Thanks. -
Yeah like Soundy said, backup to the network. Create a single shared folder on one PC, then MAP that as a drive letter, and back up each one to that.
-
Basically what Soundy Said. Also just for reference, I did come across 3 Old (maybe 4 years) Optiplex Dells with Geo on it, they had additional graphics cards added, I tried to remove them and use the onboard Intel video but it was a very limited one which did not support direct draw overlay. But typically I just use onboard video and have no issues.

Altronix also makes some Isolated power supplies. Not always available nor cheap though. I used one once. eg. ALTV2416ULI3 -
Thats a 5900 rpm drive. 7200 rpm which is used in current DVR apps, costs more. Although i do notice they claim a max 95mbs speed, which should be fast.
-
that is called continuous recording. there is also pre and post recording, but thats based on event recording. Yes that also could be considered background recording, but it is not always recording. After all if it did, then event only recording would take up more space and use much more processing to eliminate the continuous recording. im sure many developers have their own methods and names for things though.
-
Means its recording in the background LOL Eg1. if the DVR server is running as a service. Eg2. you are viewing live video, while it is recording in the background.
-
I normally just use the GV1120, pretty much the same recording speeds anyway, since the 240 and 480 the 1240 and 1480 claim is typically in CIF mode, with a fast PC it could make a small difference though. If its a 16 camera job in a busy store i will use the 1480. Also, if you dont need real time live view and a composite out, then the GV800 would suffice also.
-
What I meant is that if its using a single computer to now do the video and the business stuff, then it could slow down that way.
