    Anyone used the CNB V2760NIR

No, this is a Vandal IR Dome.
  2. Sounds like it could be alot of fun, and work ofcourse
  3. If they both goto the same server though, wont that still affect everything?
  4. Wow, thats alot of cameras I want to ask what type of location it is, but I understand if you cannot answer that.
  5. I dont see where he lists the actual model of the camera. You say he claims it is a Sony, does it say Sony on it? If not, probably isnt. Going by the Sony model you posted, that is not a Sony PTZ, it is a sony Block Zoom camera, which allows OEM manufacturers to make their own Zoom or PTZ cameras using Sony parts. Also it lists it as 0.7 lux but says nothing of Day Night. Exview was common to switch to a BW mode, not always with an ICR though the specs claim it has it, BUT that may be dependent on country as the specs also list. Although I have used Exview in the past and 0.01 is common with an Exview True Day Night, without slow shutter! Additionally, the IR Cut Filter may not be working, I have had that before on a brand new camera. Without the IR cut filter during the day the colors can look washed out. Although I cant say for sure if that is the problem in this case. Can you reset the camera to defaults? If not, another thing it might just be a bad camera. To me the colors dont look that bad. It looks like alot of Glare for the UK though How is the AGC setting? Does it even have one? One thing for certain is I would disable the Slow Shutter feature completely. Also, have you checked the camera directly without connecting it to the DVR, if so how were the colors then? Point the camera to the sky (not directly at the sun), if it is all glare and you cant see anything, you need to adjust the IRIS. Overall, I am not unhappy with the image, I havent seen those red brick homes in years now

    camera cable

1300 feet is far but doable. You could either use RG6 Coax (NOT CAT TV cable) Copper Solid Center and Copper Outer Braid, RG59 may just push it but cant say for sure. With either one you will get a loss of quality unless you add a Video Amplifier, with RG59 moreso. Another route is to run UTP or Cat5 cable. Although some will say go Passive to Passive, I would recommend Active-Active UTP RX and TX, but you should be able to get away with Active-Passive RX TX. NVT is one manufacturer well known to the industry, kind of expect their products to work as they say, but they are expensive, there are other brands that make similar devices for less. Meanwhile, check out: Eg. Passive Transceiver: (camera end) http://www.nvt.com/content.php?type=product&key=213a&cid=root http://www.nvt.com/content.php?type=product&key=213a&cid=root Active Reciever: (DVR end) http://www.nvt.com/content.php?type=product&key=652r&cid=root they have alot of products including 4-32 channel receivers/transceivers You can also email them for more info on your app. Another thing to consider is using an IP network, if there is some kind of network already existing, or even a WAN, you could look at IP cameras instead - though the cost of those alone or encoders/decoders for non IP cameras can be considerably more in most cases. You will need to check and see what type of cameras you need. And ofcourse there is always the old Fiber
  7. Its outdoor. IP66 so it can withstand alot of rain, just not dunking it in a pool of water. As for IR Bullets, stick to True Day Night if you can, not just Color IR. Search the forum for examples of what True Day Night is, but basically it has a mechanical IR Cut filter which covers the chip during the day so it blocks out the IR and the colors look vivid, while removing the cut filter at night so it can pick up the IR. Cameras without it, such as Color IR cameras, can experience washed out colors especially in the day or under alot of light, and may not always have as much low light sensitivity. True Day Night is also specified in camera specs as TDN and/or ICR. As mentioned, if you dont need IR then try to avoid it. Ofcourse we cant always, one example is my own cameras, I have one location here that wont work without IR, not even Exview covers it now, well it does but I cant see the persons face properly without IR as it is just that dark (yes contrary to popular belief we can see faces with non MegaPixel cameras, but big BUT only under certain circumstances). Here is an example of an entry level True Day Night CNB IR bullet: http://www.cnbusa.com/en/html/product/product.php?seqx_prod=1030 It is approx 65' of IR, I have used the older model to this and it worked well. Other brands will have something similar, though CNB is generally a better price for good quality. Another one that I am testing as we speak is this (initial test tonight it had issues I need to address): http://www.cnbusa.com/en/html/product/product.php?seqx_prod=339 It is much larger with much more IR (164') and cost more then double, but it should be worth it. Will have sample images as soon as I have more time to test it.
  8. How long has it been? Did you speak to them and what did they tell you? Did they receive the order?
  9. You can do all that by just using a DVR with network feature.

    Interference or bad camera?

You want the plastic thick enough so the screw mounting the camera bracket does not go through, 1/2" should be okay, should only be a couple dollars for your local plastic shop to cut you a small piece of that. So, mount the plastic first, then mount the camera bracket to that. At least thats what I did for 2 cameras on a square pole and that eliminated the problem I was having similar to yours - that was AFTER installing an ISOLATED fused Altronix PSU which did not initially completely fix the issue.

    Interference or bad camera?

Yeah, a thick piece of plastic. mount that to the pole, then mount the camera to that, make sure no part, not even the camera mount screws, go through and touch the pole. But first take the PTZ off the pole to see if that is the problem. Could also be the high voltage wire is too close to the video/power cable, especially if they are run side by side in the pole.
  12. If you could convert it to AVI (perhaps using HandBrake) then using VB6 (or other) you could convert it all to images: http://www.shrinkwrapvb.com/avihelp/avihlp_3.htm
  13. Another option is to create a new Admin user, and try it from that account. Another option is to install full XP in a Virtual Box PC, and try it in there. If using Video Server E, it is a client, no need to allow activeX unless you are using Internet Explorer.
  14. If you hear from them, please let them know to contact me .. thanks I only have a basic question, which I would like answered via email. .. no voip right now (BTW $30,000 fine here if caught using VOIP other then the one sold via the local government monopoly telco!) Im still trying to find out about their IP cameras.

    installation

yeah ask him to send us info on his products .. sounds like a good deal Anyway, maybe he is just busy doing other jobs making more money, and is just using downloading software as an excuse?
  16. LOL thats what I thought .. but the answer is no, i dont buy cameras from directron (actually i use 123 security products)
  17. How much storage can the onboard hold though? and is it video or just images?
  18. Looks interesting, whats the retail price, or can you PM me a dealer price? Thanks.

    Marketing Hype Snares

Yeah most of them are simply put, rubbish. The live quality normally isnt that bad, but the recording can be awful. Also even with Geovision their H.264 cannot match their Mpeg4. Most 4 channel stand alones are the budget DVR made by the manufacturer, so they will do what they can to make it as cheap as possible.
  20. lol .. actually there is a ton of light but no way could i afford an mp camera just to watch a vehicle.
  21. Say what?!?! Can't wait to finally see a good shot of that Jeep of yours... Obviously not at night though
  22. LOL .. yeah seems their support might be lacking. Well for me I dont normally need support from them anyway, but certainly I do in this case. Im not a phone person, email or nothing!!
  23. im the opposite .. 99% of my clients only care about night shots . .. its when all the criminals come out to play BUT .. big BUT .. I am starting to lean more towards MP cameras .. if only for the fact there are very few if any doing that here. The cost is still the killer here, we pay more hefty shipping plus customs duty.
  24. Im tired of the towers, and rackmounts are so big and heavy. 1st question, anyone got a 3U Rackmount case to work? Would the Geo card even fit? Main question, anyone used anything like this? Im thinking more for small DVRs with MicroATX mobo, a single 2TB Sata drive, onboard video. This manufacturer claims Riser card as optional but resellers in US dont sell them. Also, is it possible to get a PCI Express riser card not made for this specific case, and make it work? http://winsis.com/viewproc.asp?id=207 thanks.
