  1. Just wondering now .. there shouldnt be any limit on the HDD size right? I figure if its being sold now the firmware on their board should support 2TB?
  2. this one: http://www.avantidvr.com they are on one of the distributor sites for custom PC DVRs and NVRs.
  3. Thanks. Nice, but not for this app. Im trying to find out why some are only quoting 1TB instead of 2TB, and if anyone else has used 2TB in the type i posted above.

    DELL POWEREDGE 650

if you must buy a ready made, i would look at the systemax, they are more like home brew computers with decent motherboards and normal BIOS. Some of the dells I worked on recently, they had a freaky BIOS which would reset to defaults after a while .. no battery or other issue .. just the BIOS would trip out .. looked like some custom Dell or Intel Bios. Otherwise the Gv1480's worked fine on it with XP SP3 and 8.33. It was the Dell Optiplex though, now the Poweredge. Also the link you provided was to an old PC, with a 3ghz P4, that will crawl with Geo 8.3+, I have a P4 so I can tell you that for a fact!
  6. Hi, I have to ask, since this is a serious allegation, how are you alleging they tricked you, or committed fraud?

Does the GeoVision IP cam need a dongle?

BTW anyone have any good sources on the GVIP cams? PM me please thanks
  8. Many members and guests to the forum hear these names mentioned on occasion, and perhaps some have used them, or other software that uses HikVision cards. Please post any reviews here, so that others might get a better idea of what is what. Also please list your general location (eg. North America, Europe, etc). Manufacturers, please refrain from posting though as we are looking for end user opinions at this time. Thanks, Rory

    Installation issues

I think he said he's powering them locally at the cameras .. that was my first thought .. i had to go back a few posts I would still verify whether it is RG6 CAT RV Coax with aluminum braid, or RG6 Copper in and out. With some DVRs if the signal is not strong enough, even if you plug it into a monitor you may get a picture, but when plugged into the DVR could be video loss. bad cable, bad connectors .. maybe even bad power .. could do all that too. Going by what he said it doesnt sound like the DVR is the problem.
  11. I hate them .. literally .. okay they make us need less cards ... but how they hang down and touch each other and sometimes the bnc turns and comes loose if you move them up or down and to the side .. how they twist together and get tangled up over time, plus they just look like a mess around the back of a nice clean looking PC .. and trying to see the numbers sometimes can be a pain. So do you do anything to make them either tidier, more manageable, or even god forbid, more secure? Ive taped (no more ofcourse), tie strapped, even extended into a box to hide it all, searched the web looking for a wall mount type box with some kind of BNC male to female patch type panel built in - nothing .. tried to make my own but that didnt work out as planned (ended up just extended into box with VGA cable and tie strapped them in there in groups of 8 ). Im not talking rackmount as I can find BNC rackmount patch panels (though still only BNC female to female). Any ideas, photos, anything out there others such as myself are unaware of? Even some kind of generic 8 port loop through card would do .. I just dont think they could leave these out there as they are without some manufacturer coming up with an idea to make them better. .. ! For clarity, this is what I am talking about:

Is the Cable Copper in and out? Not Cat TV cable right? If the signal is not strong enough some DVRs will not see it, while a simple LCD/TV input would. Even the short distance cameras, the connectors might not be done properly and then could get a bad signal. Have you tried the cameras that arent showing up on the DVR, on the channels which are showing cameras?

    CNB motion detection feature?

I havent used that camera yet, or that feature, but here are the specific pages for that from the manual: http://www.BahamasSecurity.com/vcm24motion.pdf Please let us know what you find it looks like it is for showing motion detection on screen, perhaps even triggering external devices (not sure), and works along with the privacy feature.

    CNB dfl-20s review

I would do the following: 1-Verify it really is the same model 2-If it is and you need that feature, then perhaps send it back for a replacement as according to the CNB site it should auto switch to BW.

    CNB motion detection feature?

I imagine it is exactly the same as the DVR motion detection feature, only it may differ from one to the next whether it masks it out or sets the selected area for motion. Which camera are you asking about?

    CNB dfl-20s review

I dont know what to say then I didnt do any full testing on them yet. I also was only buying them to be used for color only. But I am pretty certain the one I did test did switch to BW ... What I will do is see if I can pass by the person here that has that camera, and see if I can borrow it for a couple days, then let you know. I dont think they installed it yet When I did the basic test, I didnt change any settings though. I have to ask, are you 100% certain it is the DFL-20s Monalisa Dome? They have a few others in the same price range.

    Limiting Hard Drive Space used

Create a 300Gb partition and store the video there. The video should be on its own partition or hard drive anyway.

    Limiting Hard Drive Space used

h.264 compression, 320x240 And if using Motion recording mask out areas such as trees, main roads and lights. Treat each camera individually.
  20. I used the Mobotix software last night .. I added a bunch of Axis test cameras, as I have no Mobotix cameras to test .. and they all worked fine. Granted that was mjpeg .. but still .. it has options for other cameras also such as Panasonic and others, the software is free on their site just have to register. You dont even need the demo pack, just download the latest version of the MX Control Center and then add your IP cameras. I guess not too many people know about their software yet?
  21. If you have the cash, a couple hundred more, this is a nice CNB IR Bullet also .. I installed one the other day: http://www.cnbusa.com/en/html/product/product.php?seqx_prod=339 OMG easy to install .. focused to wide FOV from the factory, but has 2 flat head screw adjustments for focus and zoom underneath contained in a little rubber cover that unclips easily. It has a small fan at the back underneath in its own spray resistant compartment, has a little vent, 4 phillips screws to remove and change only the fan if needed. On the side just below the sunshield near the front, it has a small flat head screw that removes, has a rubber ring to seal it, and inside that are all the dipswitches and the service video out. Basically .. you never have to go inside the camera! the bracket ... now im going to tell you right off the bat .. these guys HAD to have bought some Extreme CCTV EX82s to get some specs from as their bracket matches up almost exactly with the EX82's, in fact the 4 screw holes are exactly the same position ... I replaced an EX82 with this which is why I can be so sure! Ofcourse one can just look at their Dual CCD camera though and also see where they got some ideas, still brilliant ideas and products though .. and cheaper! It is slightly different though if you use the mounting base, it is then 2 parts. The mounting base is mounted, then you just hook the camera bracket to it, and then can screw it tight. Easy to mount. that said .. the cheaper Day Night IR Bullet from them I linked before, is not the same. That one is smaller then this, this one is like a jumbo sized version of that! When I get some images next week I will start a new thread to review it.
  22. Im still happy with the image from the 599T, amazing for a low res camera .. color is great for not having an IR Cut filter. If one needs a rather inexpensive vandal resistant bullet .. this can be mounted where domes cant, such as where I have it mounted at my appt. The adjustment notches is what really kills it for me though.

help bc i am so screwed

Yeah i always do reboot every 7 days. I dont even do it for software reasons, but for heat and just to give the HDD and CPU a real quick break. I set the idle to 180 secs but thats personal preference. You should be good to go as is.

    CNB dfl-20s review

Did you test it in the dark? I turned all the lights off but had the computer monitor on .. didnt do any more tests then that.
  25. True Day Night IR Bullet, one Example, depends on the application though: http://www.cnbusa.com/en/html/product/product.php?seqx_prod=1030 Example quality comparison, the 599T is 510x493 pixels and the B2760NVF is 811x508 pixels.
