  1. they have the 599T and the 599HT, high res model - both vandal bullets. I have used only the 599T but dont anymore, I still have one connected here at my appt, and another sitting on the ground in the garage, and I and others have used them at other locations. I wont use them anymore because it uses notches to adjust it, you cannot always get the view you want, and its a PITA to mount and adjust .. additionally the video/power lead is too short, as it is with most Eclipse cameras. They do work in certain applications, daytime color is good for a COLOR IR camera, low res is not so good but not bad either, but the high res model is overpriced, and for less money then the 420tvl model, I can buy a true Day Night CNB, which has a better quality image - just impossible to find in Florida, as it seems products such as Eclipse and Everfocus are so popular there! I havent used the other 599s, but i have been told the image is not as good as the T version.

    Low light camera advice

additionally to the 0.1 lux issue. going by the spec sheet: It is IP65 compared to the CNB IP66. It is 420ma power consumption compared to the CNB 300ma. Not major differences there though, but the 0.1 to 0.01 lux is major.

    Wonwoo CCTV???

no problem .. seems to see okay when the door is opened, inside and out, though i see some glare on the door's glass when it is closed, but probably due to low light inside.
  5. Other then the already useful suggestions, I would store the bike away from the road and pedestrians. Im really surprised criminals dont try to steal it?
  6. Does only Raymax work with MP cameras? Has anyone ever used Extreme CCTV gear with them? Is Raymax cheaper or just better? Does Raymax have any Illuminators like the UF100 style?
  7. thanks, yep I know about EMCCD .. saw them first a few years ago, though the comparison camera in that youtube video is not named, it could be a 10 lux camera for all we know. The comparisons I have seen of EMCCD previously were much better IMO as they are done in darker conditions, the EMCCD camera in those cases actually looked like it was in the dark, while this youtube one looks like its during the day or before sundown going by the amount of light in the sky. Also I cant afford EMCCD and I dont need color in low light, just BW, but if someone buys it for me I wont hesitate to use it
  8. Oh yeah sorry my bad on that part .. working straight through from 6am yesterday morning .
  9. Thanks, there is no way I am ever going to run Geo on an Atom, nor Windows 7 on an Atom for that matter .. that thing would be way too slow .. and recording frame rate would be so bad it would be better off I use a cheap avtech stand alone They also mention a Mini-ITX Case but no mention of the riser card required for that form factor. And a 30GB drive, a limited SSD at that with maybe max 10,000 writes .. for the video 8 cameras at 640x480 .. probably if lucky can get 4 hours out of that unless the video is set too slow. I dont even want to know what kind of XP systems they used in the past to think Windows 7 runs fast on an Atom, let alone Geo 8.33 which is a SlOW SLOW SLOW Application, I mean they really need to see an XP Geo 8.12 system in action that would have to blow their mind! I understand it is being used in a car and they are trying to keep the current draw down but Im afraid that is useless for any real world CCTV DVR application.

    Dipmap Multiple PC's

you could register for free at one of our forum member sites, www.ezcctv.com, and download any of the geo software versions there, up to and including 8.33. They have the drivers also. Ask the client to check the version if he can, it will be one of the menu items, as need that info before installing, or download a bunch of them and just use it when you know which it is. I had a similar issue with a client but cant for the life of me remember how i fixed it as it was a year or so ago .. might have just been a driver reinstall though, or another thing to do is disable the spot out feature .. restart everything .. reenable it .. then restart again .. and see if it works. Might be a corrupt or damaged registry value or ini file (it uses one of those, dont recall off hand which exactly).
  11. No housing it's a Mobotix camera. Great image Thats cool .. a client asked for some Geovision IP cameras to add to their system .. but i cant stand housings anymore .. its for a well lit car park .. any ideas? Doesnt have to be more then a 1.3 MP camera. This one would be nice but is over their budget since we are comparing to Geovision IP cameras. But can still cost more then the Geos as those take more work in adding lenses and housings. Thanks.
  12. thanks, thats a good night shot. Any chance of one without the light, maybe just with the lobby lights? Just curious how well they do under low light at night without IR. So far it looks impressive. How fast is the frame rate at Megapixel sizes? They mention 30fps at 640x480 but rarely need all that. Also do they have a similar unit with IR built in for approx 100' IR outdoors? thanks again .. asking as will be looking for a replacement for the old EX82s for a client.

Yeah the picture is great for the price .. i tested one briefly at a clients location .. so good I had someone just order 16 of them today! I didnt get a chance to test the backlighting capability but what you posted answers that, it is great! Other cameras at the same price just cant handle the backlighting like that.
  14. awww .. could you upload to tinypic.com and then post the full image? Pretty please can we see a night image? Also what type of housing is it in? Looks crisp though .. thanks.

    Problem with GV800

Hi, 1-What Chipset does the Motherboard have? They typically recommend Intel chipsets. 2-Try it without the video card, use onboard see if that makes a difference. Recording will stay the same, just has to support direct draw overlay for full screen or may get error (any modern onboard Intel video will work). 3-Disable the video loss beep/watchdog. 4-Disable any camera inputs not in use. 5-Make sure it is not a fake card, hacked drivers can cause it to crash or have issues.

help bc i am so screwed

Yes first remove 8.31. Then use the 8.33 driver installer before.. it will uninstall the previous ones then install the new ones. Restart for good measure then install 8.33 Software. If you also want to go a step further, use the Fast backup and Restore program that comes with Geo, before removing 8.31. That will save the settings somewhere. Then remove 8.31, also manually remove its folder, then remove the Geovision keys in the registry, and remove the Geovision INI files from the Windows Directory, arrange by INI and remove any Geo*.ini and also all the PTZ *_u.ini files, there are other PTZ INI files also, dont remove any non Geovision INIs though. You can open the INis to see which ones are Geo related also, most of them other then Geo*.ini should be PTZ INIs. I dont have a current list right now of which files are which, but if you leave them its okay as they would just be replaced or not used. Then use CCleaner Registry section to clean up anything left over. Then restart and install 8.33 drivers and software as mentioned above.

No with 8.3+ cards, you can only use 8.3+ software. 8.12 will only work on older cards, also it does not have IP cam support nor I think iphone support, but I use neither in most cases. Now to be honest I havent tried 8.12 on newer cards myself but others have said that, so if you wish to test 8.12 with a new card then I myself would be grateful A member on this forum has a site called EzCCTV out of the UK, you can register there for free and download all the Geo software you need, however they only have all versions up to and including 8.33 there right now. http://www.ezcctv.com Another option is to download a small UltraVNC SC app i customized and let me get onto take a look through the setup. Before doing that though, If you have XP Pro I would load that and 8.33. Also see this for some basic info on tweaking a Geo XP DVR, bypass the Nlite stuff if not interested in that and scroll down to Post Install: http://www.bahamassecurity.com/software/geovision/dvrlite.asp regarding that Nlite config i did test and even use it for a couple days and it was fine, but as I was dealing with 3 DVRs which are not able to be accessed remotely due to company security, I ended up with Full XP Sp3 but tweaked as mentioned in that page.
  19. Middle of page 1, Rory: my bad, thanks Maybe he could look at upgrading the network if he needs to then, if its that slow, may end up being cheaper. I have clients just watching their 16-channel DVRs locally over the network and it is fine, real time just about. Though maybe its the DVR he is using and I guess that will cost too much to replace.

help bc i am so screwed

Well personally I prefer 8.12 but that wont work with new 8.3+ cards LOL. 8.33 is what I recently put on 4x 16 channel DVRs .. working fine so far, also all are XP Pro tweaked. But the hardware was existing so not new chipsets.. if you can get your hands on 8.34 then sure .. it will be worth it over 8.31. I think 8.30-8.31 had alot of bugs, 8.30 was a major change in code, also alot heavier then older versions. 8.32 fixed alot of those bugs as well. New features in 8.33 probably introduced some bugs as well.
  21. thanks. Actually i had a 4 channel version of that DVR before, the software is better then Video Server E IMO . but the DVR quality was so bad I had to give it away and go back to the other Avtech ... But I would need an IP to test to get multiple windows ... I dont know if the single window I am getting now is even the video window or not, so cant do it without at least 1 live camera to test, 2 would be better though. Rory

Remote View with Windows7 and IE8

Yeah Ive had that problem before with coding, on the 64 bit system it errors trying to find the program path, not sure if it was a permission issue or not, but I dont use any 64 bit OS so didnt go any further with it. But it could have been a documents path issue also. There were alot of problems with paths and permissions where software developers had to rewrite their apps and that started back in Windows Vista, MS changing the path for 32 bit in the 64 bit OS just didnt help. So you have some things in the regular program files path, and others in the X86 path ... if the program does any checks based on the windows program files path, the program will have to do a check to see if it is 64 bit OS for it to know to check the X86 path for its app, since the normal program files path is only going to be the 64 bit apps. That I imagine is where the error would come into play if it were to happen. Maybe when querying the Program files path from within code windows doesnt check if its a call from a 32 bit app, as I said I havent tested on 64 bit so I dont know. Some ActiveX install in the windows directory, if its just the DLL or OCX, but many that I have tested actually install to a sub folder in the root path, especially older ones, or the program files path, especially if their app contains other custom files.

    Strange Issue with Webcam

If it came with XP then its not made for Windows 7, which uses ALOT more resources, I would start by putting Windows XP back on it, XP professional preferably, which is better suited for a DVR anyway. IT IS possible that is a bug in 8.33, as they do have bugs, so if you still wish to hang on to the slow Windows 7 OS, then you could uninstall 8.33 and install 8.32 and see if that fixes the problem. Im not sure if that feature is even in 8.32 as I dont use the cell phone features so never looked.

Yeah thats not a low light camera, though it is a True Day Night camera. Yes you are slowing down the video using DSS. 350-500ma is normal with True Day Night Vandal domes (especially older ones like that model), Unlike smaller or cheaper cameras they can have 2 or 3 video boards in addition to its own power board, built in surge protection, etc. IR a camera could be anywhere from 800ma to 2000ma depending on the camera and amount/type of IR and other features. Dont know if I believe the monalisa's claim of 180ma.

the hardware does not matter, 64 bit has been around for years and we have used XP 32 bit on it many times.
