Remote View with Windows7 and IE8

Unless the ActiveX is looking for the normal Program Files folder but in 64 bit it would be X86 or something right?

help bc i am so screwed

The masking is for motion detection, so Im not even sure if you are using that or not, but here is an example video I found online which shows you how to do it: http://cctv-dvr.blogspot.com/2007/11/setting-geovision-motion-mask.html The geovision event log will be on the menu.

help bc i am so screwed

Well that sounds okay hardware wise. Sure the hard drives are good though? Done any tests on them for speed? Also, is it XP or another OS? make sure you didnt mask out the area to be recorded also. Some DVRs do it the other way around where their form of masking is actually adding the area to record, while with Geo it is removing areas from recording. Any suspicious errors in the Windows event logs? How about the Geovision event logs?

2 cards in one PC? What are the PC Specs?
  5. It might have done D1 not 100% sure, but I had it set to CIF as I was on the netbook. Watch out for those ones on Ebay though, especially if it is TOO cheap, there are some really crappy ones out there with very buggy software. I imagine the vsionis one i tested, they had probably tried alot of them before going with that one. This one had basic software, but not buggy and it worked. It was not the cheapest one ofcourse, but remember you get what you pay for. If they claim alot and sell it for next to nothing, most likely it has bugs.
  6. Im not an Avermedia fan, I use Geo mostly, but how do you know the cards are refurbished? Did it come with the CD/DVD which would have the manual? The installation Manual tom posted is similar in its contents to what most DVR companies provide, see Geovision for example: http://www.geovision.com.tw/Install_Products/Installation_GVComboA.pdf They also have a separate software manual.
  7. I just recently tested a USB DVR ... compared to older ones I used in the past, it actually was not bad at all. I even had it installed on my Asus EEE PC 4G Netbook .. recording to a USB hard drive (I only have a 4GB SSD, newer netbooks have hard drives, or you could use SD Cards). Point is, it worked fine with 4 cameras on a 600Mhz Netbook LOL! No, it is no GeoVision, but it works, and its cheap. Ofcourse I didnt use it for any real length of time though, so no idea how they would last in the field, and yes the quality was CIF. This is the one i used, its from an OEM distributor in the US, but Im sure you can find one similar in the UK: http://www.vsionis.com/index.php/en/visdvrusblux-usb-dvr-surveillance-system.html Ive also used a USB TV Tuner which had A/V inputs, but it was VERY heavy software, designed for home entertainment system, and it was a flimsy connection and physically heavy (actually very long) so it kept coming loose from the USB port.

    Dipmap Multiple PC's

The main software will remain the same but you will MAY have to reinstall the driver depending on whether the cards are the same versions or not. If they are the same version cards, the ID will be different but it should still find the driver and install it automatically as it was not removed. Worst case scenario, cancel the default hardware install wizard popups and then run the Geo Driver installer. BTW do you mean the spot out on the combo card itself? If so just try uninstalling the drivers and then reinstalling again.
  9. How about a computer and view the cameras over the network?
  10. Which video viewer works with them?
  11. What you need to probably do is work with the video server client app instead of the web page ..

Change the command ports and the data ports, and the audio ports if you use audio. if you are going to use a web browser then also change the HTTP ports. Same applies to the Remote View Log etc ports. Depending on what server version you are using, in the newer 8.3+ versions at least there is menu section that lets you change all the ports in one window. OR if you are adventurous you can go into the registry as it is all there also. You can use DipMap or DynDns or Static .. same thing applies. If in the browser put a different HTTP port after the IP, if in a client app the Command, Data, and Audio ports apply, Http port not needed. However I would just change the HTTP ports anyway just for good measure.
  13. ah yes so that option does work .. the cloning .. I call it cloning but its really just setting a window to a new parent. though it would still depend on the app and its window handles etc and can be problematic but once coded properly would work .. somehow .. see example from a demo online using a hikvision card: (note, only demo I had available at the time, the hik software is actually not bad at all, a little heavy though, but ofcourse it is fine as it is, this is just an example) BTW you actually see live video on the VB6 program. NOTE: Blurred for security, PM to see originals. before, connected to demo site in the main client software: after window 1 cloned to a test vb6 program: And ofcourse why not .. 4 cameras cloned to test vb6 program: (resized into picture boxes) disclaimer; cloned in this case does not represent pirating or any other illegal activity. This is only a test and only an example, this does not represent the actual software. the software used was from public demos of software and sites found online: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=20300 http://www.ameta.ca/demo.php
  14. i guess there is another option, though perhaps a little complicated but in theory easy enough. Create a VB6 app ...load the 2 x 9 channel windows ... but hidden. then grab the handle of each indovidual video box and make their parent your app or some other control inside your app, so it looks like you have a 16 channel viewer .. a bit of a hack and depends on how easy it is to get those handles and clone them to your app .. but may work. My DVR is not on the network right now but would be willing to try it, with whatever video viewer software you are using. Just send me the links and test IP, maybe worth a shot. Ive cloned video from Acti, Axis, and Geovision, to other controls in other forms .. dont see why this cant be done. Though I havent done it from other apps to my app .. would be interested to see if it works
  15. they dont have activex yet do they? that would make life easier .... i wish some java expert would decompile it and make an activeX control, can then make your own client apps no browser needed.

    Ubuntu 10.4 help

Ive seen that before .. i just cant remember what i did it was so long ago. I think there is some safe mode in Ubuntu where you can get into change it to a basic driver or something .. I will try it out in Virtual Box. What if you try a different version of Ubuntu, such as the netbook version, or even an older one like the 9.10, thats what Im using, 10.0 didnt work in Virtual Box for me when I tested it, the version right before 10.04 which was beta at the time. 9.10 is what I put on the i-macs and even my Eee PC 700. Video driver was not installed on them by default but it still worked, needed the video driver for the advanced graphics though. You really pushing the limit with the little green computers You should start a specialty shop online and sell them .. with and/or without NVR software .. im sure many would jump at it ..

    safe-core DVR

Is that the DVR you have?
  18. Some other probably more complexed ideas: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=19615 easiest route would be to take his DVR and sell him a new one .. sell that to someone else or have him sell it. If he didnt tell the salesman he needs to view it in Mac .. then its his fault .. most Mac users in general realize the pitfalls they encounter by using that OS. Many already run Windows in Fusion or using Bootcamp.

    HAWK DSP What is this!

The actual Total Pixels in the 600TVL are the same, at least the Monalisa is 811x508, I dont know anything about the Hawk; if you go back to a 480TVL camera it is also 811x508, 550TVL, same thing. Some are a little less. But as long as its not 510x492 total effective pixels (low res) then should be close enough. Other things do matter so thats just a general guideline of course, basically I never go by TVL anymore, ofcourse they could lie about the pixels also! I agree some dont even publish the total effective pixels but I stay clear of those cameras. Monalisa has some other features though such as increased backlighting and day night switch as well as lower sensitivity - i have not tested but going by its claims it is similar to exview.Really though unless you do a full test comparison side by side with other well known CCDs and different technologies, or having used those other technologies in the past, such as Exview, it is always going to be difficult just to go by specs alone. I hope to test a monalisa soon to be able to personally verify what looks good on paper and what I have seen on youtube comparison videos of its technology. On a similar note, I was checking out the Geovision IP cameras and they claim 1.3 megapixel, 1280x1024 pixels, and 700TVL.
  20. I tested the IMS4000 remote client (without video ofcourse as I dont have any hikvision Devices or IPs to test) and it is great software. Gives me some ideas for my own remote software now Also makes me want to try the Hikvision cards now I do notice the IMS4000 is also some kind of SDK format, no company name on the EXE, etc. BTW is there a Server 4000 to test also? I Tested the Server 2000 but it seems that it might be an older version? Thanks.

Does the GeoVision IP cam need a dongle?

Nope, obviously not from somebody that doesnt know anything about GeoVision Dongles and Pigtails Give it a rest dawg, it aint dat serious.

Does the GeoVision IP cam need a dongle?

Great thanks. Yes it would be a hybrid, right now there are 16 cameras on a GV1480 and they want to just add 4 more for now. The system isnt super new so its not up to speed for 2x 1480s though, and the car park where they are going to be placed is well lit. Guess it should work out then after all, thanks again

Does the GeoVision IP cam need a dongle?

Well in the CCTV industry the dongle is the USB dongle and the pigtail is the breakout cable and those that deal with Geovision know exactly what they are ... every retailer and distributor call them that also, and software companies call their security keys DONGLES, it is the same all over google and other search engines. But you can call it what you like, you are a free man. I mean really though why on earth would I be asking if an IP camera needs a pigtail cable? Meanwhile, do you know anything regarding Geovision Dongles and Geo IP cameras? Cause I really dont care what people call anything, I just need an answer to my question please. Thanks once again for your help.

The dongle is the USB dongle for licensing, Thanks. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dongle This is the cable that connects to the card: http://www.google.com/images?q=DVR%20pigtail
