Kodicom use BTWincap
rory replied to dinhnonthan's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Probably ok in 32 bit, and as mentioned XP. I got a Geovision card working using BTSpy. Though it was limited to 1 channel on a 2 channel card. -
I think he means the version number printed on the card such as v 3.0 etc.

Problems with green screens on viewlog Windows 7 GV Vs 8.31
rory replied to cctv_down_under's topic in Geovision
is this the Remote Viewlog or the actual DVR view log? Also, what version DVR software, what version Multiview and Remote Viewlog software, and is it the DVR that is Win7 only, or what OS is on the client computers? Is every user an Admin? -
The Messoa sounds good by specs but I never used it so cant say, nor have I heard of anyone that has used it. Additionally cant see any demo images of it in action. If it does what it says though, should be impressive.

How about this one? http://www.cnbusa.com/en/html/product/product.php?seqx_prod=1092 just add a cheap IR LED for night time if its too dark? Ive used the Extreme CCTV Reg Camera in the past, very expensive but works.
-
Ive put 8.1 on 7.0 hardware in the past, but may depend on the card. For instance, if you use a dongle, then it might not work. Ive never had a Geo card that needed a Dongle, even from my first 6.xx one. But I have heard that some do.

Everybody is asking for them down here. If I dont put it in, someone else will and make the money ... The recession has hit us 10 fold in this country. This is the Turret IR Dome:

Everyone is asking for this type of camera these days, some that I have used are crappy, others that look better for specs are either more expensive or have a narrow lens like 6mm. Whats the best one you have used?
-
Sorry try now

7.0 I cant speak for, but 8.2 should work on the 8.0 cards. I prefer 8.12 so cant say ive tried to load newer Geo on the older cards, I know cant do it the other way around, load 8.12 on 8.3 cards. Leave the 8.0 software on it but try to just install the 8.2 drivers. Once that works then the software should work. If it fails, could go back and install the 8.0 drivers.

these are not MP lenses but may help for another job. http://www.ktncusa.com/english/viewtopic.php?t=468 check out the 1.78 widest one at the bottom .. its about $20 .. the others are cheaper. they also sell a 1.24mm lens but its not on the KT&C site, part #KLB0124

No problem my friend
-
Thanks .. yeah Im thinking if Im going to use something I might as also use something others in this country may find too complicated ..the more complicated the better .. like job security Right now anyone can stick up a regular CCTV camera .. or they think they can .. either way that market is saturated now.
-
Actually I would be looking for a more closed solution, no large housings .. I dont mind complicated software long as it is worth messing with ..

EX82s were around years before Arecont was established, totally different companies and totally different products. EX82 was the FIRST dual camera in the industry. I installed my first EX82 some 10 years ago.
-
curious how they are.
-
Wireguys, any idea what would be a good all in one IP camera that could replace an EX82 .. megapixel ofcourse .. looking to offer something to this client that has had these EX82s up for the past 10 years . Basically most of them are in pitch dark at night and need to see at least 100' 30 degree angle as the Ex 82 does now .. doesnt even have to be MP at night .. but day would be nice. The client has money so thats not a problem, though they said recently when we are about to replace an EX82 camera that went bad (the 2nd lot they bought a couple years back have been nothing but problems, the first lot have lasted from the first install approx 10 years ago! But they are all on the way out now - right on the ocean), they dont need anything amazing .. but i Know if I show them the latest and greatest and a better image they would jump at it .. they like to buy things just because I would probably lean more towards Mobotix but not sure what is the best.
-
Yeah they have DVRs .. http://www.cnbusa.com/en/html/product/product_list.php?maxx=5 Not sure if they build them or get them from others .. they also have some NVR software as well as Ip cameras Just checking to see if anyone else has tried anything like that from them as yet. Thanks.

Suky dont you sell cameras? Shouldn't you know this? 1) Get something with better low light sensitivity 2) Add IR or other Lighting 3) Watch TV and forget about it ... works in the day right

Its been a while, literally I havent installed an alarm system other then mine in a few years (I left the alarm industry to do CCTV) .. but basically we used the 100-T white switches for most jobs (yes in series also), but they have the large ones also like for those wide gaps and steel doors, and then ofcourse there are recessed and overhead door switches, and actually a ton more for different types of applications. Ive also used the real mini ones on occasion, but only if needed to. Basically depends on the doors/windows. We've series-ed (spelling?) everything from contacts to motions, its all about what the client could afford. Down here though we normally used one good model from each major type, as cant import everything. Done alot of screens also. And we use the regular white 2 pair solid Telco wire. Actually I have a box of gray right now as it was half the price. Though you could use UTP/cat5 also. http://www.grisk.com/surface_mount/100.html http://www.grisk.com/surface_mount/4532.html http://www.grisk.com/surface_mount/129.html http://www.grisk.com/surface_mount/28.html here is a list of all the GRI stuff: http://www.grisk.com/security_products.html

Panasonic 484 VS CNB vbm-24vf - Anyone compared them?
rory replied to nsxttt's topic in Security Cameras
No not the same, Super Backlight is not WDR, monalisa does claim this super backlighting but not WDR. Cant expect it for the price either. backlighting feature just takes care of the front view (if lucky), not what is behind them, such as inside AND outside of a store entrance. Additionally even with so called Multi backlighting (Sanyo was the first several years ago) it is not the same as WDR. They have 2 versions of WDR, the Pixem and the DoubleScan .. the Pixem being the cheaper .. my experiences with Pixem on the GE WDR cameras left me keeping my distance from them, even though it was years ago, once bitten, well you know the rest. Far as I can see their DoubleScan is the Ultra WDR, their best, which is why it costs the most. Also they have the Eclipse camera (v2867nvf) which is around $10 cheaper then the WDR (v1167nvf) but its not WDR, although it has to be the cheapest licence plate capture camera out now!! ... but they have one in their new catalog that is coming out soon which has both the WDR and Eclipse together. Monalisa: http://www.cnbusa.com/en/html/product/product.php?seqx_prod=1077 WDR: http://www.cnbusa.com/en/html/product/product.php?seqx_prod=1099 Eclipse: http://www.cnbusa.com/en/html/product/product.php?seqx_prod=1092 WDR AND Eclipse: http://www.cnbusa.com/en/html/product/product.php?seqx_prod=1122 ofcourse please remember I am just going by specs, but doing some basic tests on their cheap domes really did impress me with them. this one for example, is impressive for the price: http://www.cnbusa.com/en/html/product/product.php?seqx_prod=1100 Ok yeah the pictures look like WDR right LOL .. i dont know .. for that price .. anyway .. I havent tested that feature yet -
What type of monitor are you using? PC based normally give better quality and more features for recorded video ... But the monitor used on a standalone also makes a difference, as well as the DVRs capability to convert the video from composite to vga (if using that) though that can differ from one to the next these days, also depends on the embedded OS used. The best live video i have seen on any stand alone and even better then Geovision for example, was an OEM using the same brand that Intellicam sells, with HDMI on a supported 32" LCD it was amazing, literally like a movie. The unit I tested only had CIF recording though so that pulled the plug for me on that one. They have others though, with D1 recording, just more expensive. Bottom line is they didnt have the evidence sharing features of say Geovision so I didnt go any further with it. Units like the Nuvico, Avtech, GE, Avermedia, etc, are more work horses then anything, stick them in an hot utility closet and walk away .. they can in most cases survive a full summer in the tropics locked up with barely any air, at least the ones I have used (hard drive dies first!). Basic features though. If you are looking for more real time recording in high quality, then check out hardware compression cards. Unfortunately H264 will compress the crap out of the video though so for recording try to get one with options. However nowadays with the faster CPUs and memory you can use the software compression cards that claim 480 in CIF and still using say Smart Motion Detection, it can seem close enough to real time in higher res, depending on how busy all the cameras are. Also in many cases there isnt a huge diff between 640x480 and 720x480 except there being a huge diff in file size .. so I tend to stay at 640x480 anyway .. but most PC based DVRs these days will handle 720x480 (D1). Hard drives are cheaper these days but they still cost us alot down here.

Yes, done that hundreds of times, as mentioned for overhead door switches (garages, etc), windows (where one tx covers multiple windows, in series, or a tx with 2 switches, a wireless and a wired, depends what you are covering), yard beams (power them using high voltage socket and a 12V battery in a large weatherproof box), etc. It can cut down on the overall cost, though ofcourse might be less cosmetic in some cases. The Lithium batteries can last a long time, depends on usage, like a busy front door will get the most wear, but buy them wholesale and keep some on hand. Get yourself a meter to so you can test them occasionally, and test each zone in general and the siren and if monitoring test that they get the signal, though the alarm system should tell you when the battery is low, as well as if it cant send the signal to the CMS.

Very poor video quality from a geovision gv-1480a 32channel
rory replied to cwkamms's topic in Geovision
Did you set the source to 640x480 or 720x480 (i normally use deinterlace) Does the video support direct draw overlay properly, what is the graphics adapter? Does it look blocked? (direct draw overlay issue, see above) Did you set the recording size to highest? (wont affect live though) What is the compression set to? Set it to Geo Mpeg 4 for the best quality.
