Also check out the KT&C 700TVL cameras, some good quality at a low price. Im installing 20+ of their indoor domes right now, and a half dozen of their TDN IR Bullets. That's in addition to a couple CNB WDR indoor domes, and a few no name cameras. 47 cameras. For Power supplies look no further than Altronix. They are King of CCTV Power Supplies. The WZ IR Bullets, I've used them and never was impressed. We chucked most of them in the trash and thats the god honest truth. In fact I have one sitting here on the ground in front of me which I was going to use as a dummy camera, and I rarely do that. Ofcourse I am certain they have changed from one model to the next, but be warned the WZ models are their budget line, yet normally costs double the price of other brands. BTW 3.8mm will unlikely provide any facial recognition unless the camera is just a few feet from the object. What kind of IR distance are you looking to achieve, and what is the location of the IR? You might want to check out this camera: http://www.ktnc.co.kr/english/viewtopic.php?t=929 For shorter IR (30-40'), visibility in near pitch dark with IR turned off, and next to invisible IR (940nm): http://www.ktnc.co.kr/english/viewtopic.php?t=927 here is a sample of that camera .. light on, light off. and this is what the location looks like with a Color IR camera with light off.

Also you get the latest firmware updates with the Apollo model.

Because you are recording in CIF. Change the record resolution to 640x480 or 720x480.

Maplin Sentient 4 Channel Network DVR lost ActiveX Plugin
rory replied to zekezchry's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Its not a Windows related file, seems it is specific to a particular DVR or Camera. Either way, Im not installing it Lots of issues come on a google search, some likely false though. AVG has no issues with it but .. -
Actually dawg the thread was about the differences between cat5 cabling and coax, in fact it was never about baluns. But you know, whateva.
-
And when that feeble little cat5 cable gets knicked, you loose 4 cameras. Great
-
Here is the perfect DVR to go along with those cheap baluns [store link removed - you know the rules, big guy] and here is the perfect camera suited for those cheap baluns [for real] Got get it guys, now you can sell your clients a real system
-
[edit: personal insults removed. rory will be back after taking a few days to chill out]

I dunno maybe its where I am, but I could swear the cost on this page says US $19 each??? But hey, it must be a special price just for me .. actually I could login and then I WOULD get my special price ... cause you know Im not just an employee, I actually deal with the accounting. http://www.123securityproducts.com/500009.html

no wonder your clients want to use IP video, after using those $5 analogue baluns you sell them
-
Again, and again, forget the cost of the cable, imagine you just dragged it out of the trash. The baluns alone cost more than the coax.
-
no rory but 2/3 or 4 cameras in the same location will need 4 runs of coax cat5 1 run. am just saying you cant count run for run against cat5. so the maths is not right if all your cameras are in one spot on your house then that is cool, but most people you know, want to actually see around their house.
-
Tell them buy a windows computer
-
Thats incorrect. You need power and if you really think you are going to power 4 cameras over 1 single cat5 pair then good luck with that.
-
How are you going to control it? With a joystick. I have it working on the bench right now. Ok because for most PTZ you need the controller that came from the same brand to get full features and speed.

Cooked a linksys router! Was 3yrs old anyways.. Upgrade?
rory replied to PaulsonLaw's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
i have a 5 or 6 year old router, I over work it with streaming video and you name it, and it still works fine. you likely did not have yours on a voltage regulator and if so that is likely why it got fried. -
DM multiview or Remote Viewlog lets you view multiple cameras in a multiview. Dont know what tech support you were talking to.
-
So what, the camera magically moves closer to the DVR by 200'?
-
What cameras were used? What was the quality of the picture (samples)? I used cheap Baluns at a couple hundred feet and the image sucked. I wouldnt even use those at 100' distance for a client.

NEW MEMBER WHO PURCHASED NO NAME SECURITY DVR
rory replied to PANTHERGRAFIX's topic in Introductions
Need to know the manufacturer then. Maybe see if you can take a photo of the front, rear, and if possible the inside of it. Some DVRs are even picky with what HDDs work in them, but with IDE normally was not much else other than keeping the same power (eg some only could use 5400rpm drives but thats really old). IDE means its not that new, maybe 3-4 years old. Might be time for an upgrade. Otherwise, try get some photos and then someone might recognize it. A firmware update MAY fix it, though its more likely an overall problem with the DVR, like a bad board or HDD controller. -

Hard Drive should be master. Disconnect the DVD drive for now. -

Ok, did you remove the Hard drive yet? Does it even have a Hard drive in it? If it doesnt, power it off, get a working hard drive and install that inside it, connect it up properly (power and data cable), and the power the DVR back up. Some DVRs will not start without a working Hard Drive. -
Wow thats cheap, how much for twist ons?
