  1. Hi, Well im looking for something specific. I need something that can take up to 8 cables, basically just some kind of clip. So you snap the cable into the groove and it holds it, simple. its for RG59 video cable only. I want to be able to attach this, to say a wall, or some wood, its just a strip to hold the wire aligned side by side. It is for a specific purpose I cant really get into right now. Ok its like this, but only it is in one long strip up to 8 cables: Also it would be upside down, the cable has to clip into it, and be easy enough to release if need be. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2255013 more something like this: Screw would go where grey arrows are. or even something else to hold it down: Any ideas are welcomed. thanks, Rory

    GV-1240 Audio Install Problem

You do not have any Audio Drivers installed for that PC. It is separate from the Geovision Drivers. Look for the audio drivers for the motherboard. This might be the drivers here: (XP 32 Bit, Realtek Audio drivers) ftp://ftp.evga.com/driver/audio_realtek.zip http://www.evga.com/support/drivers/

    Differences of 1/3" & 1/4" lens

the simple answer, for fixed cameras (non PTZ) always go for 1/3" over 1/4", if you have a choice.

CNB mona lisa review (sort of)

yeah, no we could just buy BW cameras for that Also bear in mind that the 484's are not specked to be great low light cameras, they never were the best for low light apps regardless of their Day Night feature. The GE Exview True Day Night Camera on the other hand was a great low light model. There are other models also which use Exview that would be far superior at night to the 484. Some may try to argue this with me but I wont budge, check the specs on the min lumination (standard without bursts of any kind, 0.06 lux) and compare that to other day night cameras (0.01 lux) and one should clearly see the diff.
  5. Ct100 is satellite cable, it seems to be copper but I would recommend using the right cable for the job, RG59 Siamese CCTV Cable. And all cameras require power.

yeah but you guys dont have the tropical sun we have here, every day of the year though I would love to live there regardless, if only for the 7 elevens, walmarts etc that we dont have here! But I too would be interested if indeed it is a good camera. At the price, it doesnt even have to be better, just decent enough IMO.

CNB mona lisa review (sort of)

Maybe you just haven't found a really GOOD AGC yet? No its not that, unless you are going to tell me Bosch, Panasonic, GE, Extreme CCTV, Sanyo, among hundreds of other small name brands, all suck? The point is that Day Night cameras which use AGC for its Day Night switchover function, are typically cheap crap as far as I am concerned. There is no reason why one would need to enable AGC for a camera to switch to True Day night mode, if the camera was any good. the first camera I saw that came like that, I was like WTF?? I could not believe it, that it was that crappy that it would not switch without AGC on, i threw that in the garbage and bought a REAL True Day Night camera, something that also gave a good picture in the full sunlight. I believe they must have been drunk when they came up with that idea, or living under a rain cloud. Now could CNB have improved on it since the last one I tested, sure .. but why would I continue to spend alot of my money to "try" it when I could buy something i "know" will work? CNB ALSO has models that DONT use AGC for Day Night mode.

CNB mona lisa review (sort of)

Accoridng to the specs the CNB only work in Day Night mode if the AGC is turned on, for example, we cant use AGC in this country. The Panos work as a real True Day Night mode camera does, does not need AGC to function. The Panos are meant for a specific application though, that is where they shine, eg, looking at an entrance to a store so one can see inside and outside in bright sunlight or low light, or looking at gas pumps so that when the headlights hit it does not blind or blur the image. things like that.

The 484's are Wide Dynamic Cameras .. are you sure the CNB is that? Also, the 484's work in true Day Night Mode without AGC? What are your other cameras?

Can you ID this PTZ ball camera?

Extreme CCTV/Derwent had that model, now taken over by Bosch. http://products.boschsecurity.us/en/TAMS/products/bxp/CATM6d4c535dddd3e10017937591ea310543
  16. I can still see you on a serious note you see where im going with this? Actually maybe 4 piece is better .. its for pigtails from DVRs and Im looking at plastic enclosures and VGA extenders. Guess I can always get a plastic place down here to make everything for me from scratch .. $$ though.

    Router not recognizing DVR

Well not entirely. You can check the ISP assigned IP address and if it has not changed, they should still be able to get into it. It should be DHCP and that should not change that often. At least you should be able to use it to test the DVR, even if it changes in a day or so. Also, you could sign up with a free DDNS account and enter that into the router. Check the router for DDNS types allowed for that model, DynDns.org is a common one. You can then create a DDNS name and it will redirect to the updated IP for your account. Additionally, Perhaps they are blocking port 80? Simple check, change the port in the DVR to port 81, then port forward 81 instead of 80, then ask your friend to try again. Telnet to it instead though, incase he is having issues with the software or browser.

Eight Cameras to Show on a Website

?? The two are not the same thing. aspx = server-based scripting language (like php, perl, etc.) iis = internet information services, aka Microsoft's all-in-one internet server application. Other than the fact that ASP (as far as I know) only runs on IIS servers, there's no connection between the two. i figure he means using aspx through IIS .. but still unless it is using META Refresh it has to use some kind of other technology to refresh the images or stream the video, eg. Javascript, Flash, Java, or another Plugin, etc. AK confirmed it uses javascript already.

    Router not recognizing DVR

Ok .. what type of router are you using? Are the cables all connected right? make sure the right cable is plugged into the right port on the DVR.
  22. I dont know that particular DVR but try just hitting the stop button on the DVR. Or go into the menu and look for Recording and then look for stop in that sub menu. If you disconnect or power down all cameras and reboot the DVR, then it may also stop recording.

    Color Issue blue is black

If the camera has no Infrared Cut filter then colors can look washed out. Eg: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=19905
  24. Pressing enter 4 times is probably in user mode. Make sure you enter as an admin. Default Admin password should be 0000

    Router not recognizing DVR

What IP, Subnet, and Gateway did you set the DVR as? it should be set to static BTW. the DVR has to be set to the same range as the router, eg: IP: 192.168.1.200 Subnet: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.1.254 Dont worry about DNS values for now. Goto another computer on the network, goto Start, Run, Cmd. If this is XP and the DVR uses port 80 for the remote video then you can do this : Telnet 192.168.1.200 80 CHANGE 80 to the port it uses. If the screen goes blank and does not give an error then it connected. BUT that is only locally .. test it out locally though using the client software or browser (if supported). Then you would need to port forward the port to that DVR IP in the router applications and gaming or servers section, so you can access it from outside.
