What is the highest CCTV camera resolution?
rory replied to cctv_addicted's topic in Security Cameras
Well seeing as this thread is from Mon Oct 29, 2007, it is certainly a little out dated. Seeing as a high majority of visitors to this forum, and others like it, are consumers, then yes it is going to be more consumer oriented. Thats an IP camera, not a CCTV camera, please read the title of the thread again. The topic is asking for CCTV cameras only. And although in the past year HDD costs have dropped considerably, 100s of TBs are still very expensive. Additionally, the company is actually AVIGILON. Thats great, but its useless for retail stores, homes, and night clubs. -
Might be a single beep just saying its been turned on or recording started. Check the number of beeps. Use the Composite output instead, perhaps you have to enable the VGA port inside the setup menu.

This is the color model I would be using: http://www.ktnc.co.kr/english/viewtopic.php?t=425 Though it has Superhad 2 it is only 0.5 lux (0.05 lux faceplate), but im using them indoors anyway, or outdoors with lots of light.

Remote Software that is Compatible with Multiple Cards?
rory replied to FranciscoNET's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Not likely, because the code is different. Webcam code from most DVR manufacturers are typically only supplied as an ActiveX Control and that makes the app heavy the more you add to it. Therefor with lack of being able to write the code needed for lots of diff activeX controls due to one also needing a demo for each DVR to test events and methods, unless it is something one customizes specifically for one or two DVRs only I doubt you will see anything much out there in the way of a multi view multi DVR remote App. Obviously some do it for Alarm Monitoring apps but then it is typically a really basic single view which in that case is like using IE. That said .. im still looking at the idea and researching it some more. -
Yeah I need to ask them about that, for color it doesnt matter to me but for the BW exview an f:1.2 would be better. I wonder if that is not a typo, I will email my contact at KT&C when i get a chance. Ofcourse could always source the lenses elsewhere and just replace them.
-
Given that they have both ExView and Super HAD CCD II, would be interesting to compare the two sensor technologies. Best, Christopher Ill just be getting the BW Exview 420TVL which is the lowest lux camera they have, and the non exview Color 550TVL bullet and mini cameras, so I wont be able to compare but I know SuperHad wont match the Exview anyway, unless of course they specifically mention Superhad 2 or 3 but none of them ever do anyway, remember this will be the cheapest chips from Sony as its in a bullet camera.

good Actually I must be very tired, 495Mb should be more then enough for the log files. Unless the recycle bin is growing and then space is diminishing. It should not take up much at all. But still, you should do that cleanup i posted before, as 500mb is not much space left for a modern drive, there should be tons of GB left.
-
It seems the system log is located in the MDB folder (database) , in the main access database file in geoMulti.ini [MDB] Location=C:\MultiCam\
-
yeah but thats all the video Log, your error is with the System Log which is different - video log is the recorded video, system log is just a log of what the system does. Id have to check where that is located in the INI files or registry but you can change it right from the menu as in the sample image I posted. Just make sure C is clean and there is enough room on it for the system drive to exist there. From previous post you said there was only 495mb of space left?
-
Ok then that is the video log location so yeah dont change it
-
this is from 8.1, should be similar in 8.01 Note: the System Log Setting menu item
-
upload the multi.ini file somewhere .. Its been a while but I dont think that logentry is the recording. . but I could be wrong. Also, what folder did you set for recording? history1 doesnt sound like something to be used for video. I dont have a complete multi.ini file here to reference and I would need to go digging through external drives and my code for one from before ..
-
Log Entry has nothing to do with the video store. What was taking up all the space on C?
-
Yes thats it right there, change it to LogEntry0=C:\GV1480\ Save, make sure Geo is not running, or restart. Did you clean up the C drive and make sure the video is not recording to that?

trying to open a .ADV video file from DVR

also view the properties of the file and see if there is any identifiable information added to it. -
You should be a ble to change it under the log settings section .. I dont have a geo here to be able to say where exactly it is but its there somewhere with the other log settings. Optionally you can open C:\Windows\GeoMulti.ini and change the log folder there.

As mentioned system log should just be on the C drive (or you could crate a small partition just for the logs and restoring for example using a bootagent to select a drive and restore an image, and do even more but for the sake of this issue will keep to the basics) Stop all recording and exit Enable Recycle Bin of 1% on C Drive. Disable Recycle Bin on other drives. Disable Hibernation Completely. Disable System Restore Completely Disable Updates of ANY kind Resize Page File/Check - make it same min and max, use the max/recommended size for both Download and Run Windows Cleanup! http://www.tucows.com/preview/405276 Defrag. Move system log to the C drive, check the C drive for any install files/folders, etc. Make sure you are not recording to the C drive. You should have tons of space on C as XP takes up very little itself and Geo is not that large either. Basically you will need to make sure you have enough space for 1% of the hard drive which will be the recycle bin, though it wont be that size to begin with that is how large it could get, unlikely though in this type of system, also the page file takes up space, but even so you should have perhaps 85-90Gb free space on C with a 96GB (100GB?) drive, default XP alone only takes up 700-900 MB (not including page file, etc, varies in size depending on XP installed drivers etc).

No thats the pigtail, a dongle is something with a hardware ID used in software authorization, such as a USB dongle or previously a Parallel port dongle. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dongle Example, here is one I have used in the Past for my own software: http://www.keylok.com/
-
Hi,well the post is from 2007, but still I havent seen any cards yet that come with a dongle. I cant vouch for the 8.3.2+ though and Ive only installed 8.3 once when I had no choice (yes i prefer 8.12 so the older ones will stay with that). I understand you might need one if you are paying for 3rd party IP camera support. Are you sure you are not getting a "dongle" mixed up with the "pigtail"?

Looking for Windows 7 NVR and DVR solutions.
rory replied to Tailbone215's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
XP can utilize a multi-core processor just fine. Opening one program in XP does not freeze everything either, as long as it is not bad software - YES, I can also lock up your Windows 7 with a simple script. No more then Win7, in fact Win7 with its excessive use of memory would require more reboots if anything. XP should not require a reboot unless one is running bad software. -

BTW this is one particular service that should be disabled on a DVR. -

Explorer.exe is just the desktop shell, Windows can run fine without it. RunDLL.exe also is just another app that is used for certain tasks and Windows can run without it. GDI32.exe should not be crashing unless you have driver issues. Most DVR software have a setting which allows you to set the DVR to restart the PC every X amount of days. I always set mine to restart every 7 days, for peace of mind if anything, or incase there has been any issues, which rarely there ever is. Windows and Linux? Well, I cant speak for Vista or Win7, but XP is not that bad, apps can create memory leaks and that can rise but that depends on the software developer and once one uses a decent DVR card with good software, it should be fine. Even if it did max out then it would just switch over to the page file and use the HDD. XP is not magically stable, actually by default it is very unsecure, and it needs to be setup properly, but that said, Linux needs to be setup properly also. In reality everything is vulnerable. Ofcourse if you install Custom XP setups like I do then one stands less chance of having problems, and it runs much faster. -
6 Hours? Ouch. Perhaps just copy the folders you want based on the dates, to another drive, or another temp folder of that drive, then delete all the working folders. Clean or format then copy them back, and run the Database Repair to update the database. I cant see that taking 6 hours, unless there is something wrong with the drive, or the system. What are the System specs? If using 8.3 it needs a super computer
