    ExView HAD versus Super HAD

More then likely that is all at faceplate, even on the Exviews. I believe their light meters are broken

    ExView HAD versus Super HAD

Superhad cant touch an Exview Chip no matter what. If anything what you are seeing in the specs are probably Faceplate and DSS. eg. 0.0025Lux (50 IRE@F1.2) has to be 0.025 lux. But if this is a superhad chip then this has to be in DSS or some sens up mode.
  3. I agree with Soundy but I also agree with the OP to an extent. Eventually they will force our hands as hardware drivers no longer become available for XP, as they did with 98/Me. It really does suck though since XP blows away Windows 7 IMO hey by then perhaps there will be something ready for Ubuntu? Personally I never use Windows Updates anyway but thats just me I think this is 100% appropriate no worries. Although if you are looking for DVR info this may be the wrong forum for that

CNB mona lisa review (sort of)

Also just checked .. here is where I have issues with these cameras without even using them.. ICR(AGC Type) We have problems with that type down here .. AGC typically MUST be disabled here or daytime is too washed out from glare (i dont know, is our sun different from theirs?!), lots of sunshine here, like all the time. Now, unless AGC is enabled the DN feature will not work, which sucks. I stay far away from cameras like this, used some before and bit my tongue that I did. As a low light color only camera though I guess that is where they may shine? Perhaps they have improved on that feature since I used the other brands, so that AGC is disabled during the day?

VCM is TDN with ICR also .. just bigger dome? Dual Mount option. yeah must be the guts .. has to be .. its probably a cloned spec for all their cameras. In fact I didnt realise the mona lisa WAS True Day Night with ICR until now

It has to be a typo or something .. has to!
  7. The card is not a Real GeoVision card, and the Software is cracked and the drivers are hacked, pretty much what I said. Ofcourse the card itself is not "pirated" in the sense that you and I might otherwise understand it, but it is a "clone" - or cheap Knockoff. In this industry we also call it a "Pirated Card", which encompasses both its being a copy of the original and using cracked software with hacked drivers. Geovision use to get its cards from UDPtech which is strictly a card manufacturer in Korea. I believe they still do but some things have changed on them since I last checked. As I am not privy to the inside workings of either Geovision or UDBtech i cannot elaborate any more then that. Bottom line is the cards are copies of the Geovision cards, they make them out to look like the real thing, but they are far from it. The Driver files are made for these NON Geovision cards but are reconfigured to "appear" as if they are for Geovision, Software is cracked to "work" with those driver files and the card, using older versions of the software. Although these copies and cracked software crash and have all kinds of issues, people buy them, in fact, it is rather genius of the Chinese when you think of it, and they are great sales people. But ofcourse they know they are above any International law also. However most of that is based in Hong Kong. Dont get me wrong, the Chinese do make great products, not all are making cloned cards and cracking software, it is still just a very a small minority. More info: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3301

Whoops maybe not .. i dont understand if they mean the interior of the camera or the housing .. the VCM's manual says the same thing about not exposing to rain LOL.! The VCM does have a rubber back and a rubber rim around the dome cover though. Maybe it is a language barrier

The CNB might still be okay out there in the rain though, does it have any rubber at all, anything that looks like it might seal it up a little? EDIT: They claim that dome is IP66 The VFL20S is IP65. I think the VCM model is what you want. http://www.cnbtec.com/en/html/product/product.php?seqx_prod=1143

Most Vandal Domes are like that. Unless it has a rubber ring around the dome cover and even the rubber base does not always stop rain coming in. Unfortunately the design of vandal domes do not allow for a complete water tight seal, as with bullet cameras or box enclosures. Most will end up calking it to try and seal it up good, but think about maintenance. Ive used alot of various models or come across others that installed them, and really the typical design of a vandal dome is not that waterproof. Ofcourse occasionally you will find one or two that hold up good, but its just pure luck in most cases. Which model BTW?
  11. That was not a real geovision card (pirated), so it came with hacked drivers and cracked software, no wonder you had problems. GeoVision has a China division but they do not sell to end users and that Hong Kong place you purchased from was just another outlet selling pirate hardware/software. Just going by the fact that you bought it from Hong Kong, It had a CD with a white label for the drivers (instead of the original CD), and it had paper clipped pages for the manual (instead of a real booklet), that alone tells us it was a clone. Since I was using GeoVision from 3 or so years ago, it always had 720x480 resolution in live and record.
  12. This is incorrect, unless one has a bad system or is using a pirated card. No DVR should ever have a crash/system hang, I would have another look at what kind of systems you are building.
  13. Yeah but thats only one. And its developed by a company that does provide paid services so it could be more of an advertising angle. Additionally it cannot be compared to Windows based DVR software like GeoVision and others. This Industry is different from the Web browser industry so I dont see it really happening much more then what is there already, people that do get into this industry seem to be in it for the $$$$
  14. They will record in 720x480. What they are telling you is that you will only get 30fps in CIF Mode, this is how all or most DVRs are, where you want the maximum frames that the card offers, it is most always be in CIF mode only, short of using a hardware compression card and even only very few stand alone DVRs. So yes it WILL do D1 recording, but if all cameras are recording at one time it will not be 30fps. In fact, I never record in D1, i use 640x480 as the file size is much smaller and yet the actual video size and quality is barely a difference. Also, you can change the recording size per camera, so set some at CIF and some at D1. What it is, alot of DVRs will advertise say 120fps or real time but they dont tell the client it is only if they use CIF mode, so for example with the GV1480 it will do 480fps but only if you are recording all in CIF, so if you use D1 then it is 120fps or less - with smart motion recording though most of the video clips can be visually close enough to real time to hardly notice a difference (on the combo cards, and depending on the number of cameras with motion, faster quad CPU can also help gain more). BTW have you looked at Nuuo? I havent used it but as an example their 16ch hardware compression cards are half the price of Geo's hardware compression cards, and their software looks like it has alot of the same features. Their smaller cards dont seem to be any cheaper then Geo's though. But in theory you could stack 4 of their 16 channel hardware compression cards to get a 64 channel system as most of the processing is done on the card. I think they have 4 channel hardware compression also.
  15. In regards to Geovision, the 600 has replaced the 250 now, though you might still be able to get some 250's from dealers with overstock and at low prices, but just make sure its not a clone.
  16. Check out the KPC-VBN190NHWX, probably the best color bullet camera out there, and its waterproof. Cant say what price though as it can vary. They also have indoor only models, the KPC-VBN190NHB. http://www.ktnc.co.kr/english/viewtopic.php?t=425

    Same spec, different size

So far from what Ive used they have been okay, will be trying out their latest models very soon. They have mini cube cameras also, which can be used to build your own hidden cameras. They are one of the very few if not only one still making mini BW Exview cameras which is a must for alot of bars and clubs.

    Same spec, different size

Larger power board, dual voltage, MORE Boards for power and Video, larger boards with more circuitry (more features), larger lens mount. In most cases, the images from a box camera such as that, can easily blow away an image from a bullet camera - but, many people dont want the larger box these days, the hassle of focusing it, additional installation especially if used outdoors, and the higher cost associated with it. So we settle for what could be a lesser image from a bullet camera, though good enough for most applications. Additionally, even though it seems to be the same specs it is not. There are various ranges of Sony Chips and they are based on price also, so as an example the cheaper Sony SuperHad chip in the bullet camera will not be the same as the more expensive Sony SuperHad chip used in the Box camera. EDIT:I just checked again and the Samsung Box camera seems to also be Digital Day Night.
  19. Just to clarify something, a $75 camera, especially an IR camera, IS a cheap [budget] camera.
  20. Or he could just do in in Visual Basic Script which is built into Windows
  21. However, tomorrow there maybe something better and cheaper then the hybrid system you sold them. Also, the motherboards are pretty much discontinued every week, so already the DVR is outdated then As for hybrid, If a person knows they are going to add in an IP camera, then sure, but why buy something you might never use? Its like installing software on a computer that is never used, but comes up on startup. Sure it is okay if one has the money, but that depends on the area one lives in, but even that from what I have seen lately, the rich people dont want to spend either. Dont get me wrong, I would love to sell megapixel cameras and nothing else .. but just cant stay in business like that. But thats just me ... dont mind me We have clients down here, some of the biggest businesses or wealthiest in the nation, and you can show them 2 cameras, a high quality image and one with a poor CMOS image, if the CMOS type is cheaper, they buy that right away - they just dont want to spend on cameras, even after it has helped them catch hundreds of inhouse thefts. They say, its good enough, its great, I can catch the person stealing, I know who that is, even though the image might totally suck. One told me the other day, CCTV is just not a priority to him, it is something that comes in handy, but its not a necessity to run his business and therefore he will spend less on that then other things. So you see there are many differences between where one installer might live and the other. Francesco's only market might be the Ghetto or low income, much like down here, while you might primarily be dealing with people that have money or at least a regular income. Sometimes to stay in business and put food on the table, you have to do what it takes - but i would emphasize tell the people the difference, let them know they are buying a lesser product if they choose that one; many do not do that. That said, a $60 DVR Card, I just dont see how that is worth it, may as well just sell them a cheap 4 channel stand alone and walk away, less headaches. I think, since we are in an Industry that is not quite as popular as say selling Water or Food, or Plumbing ... any customer that has money to spend is a good customer
  22. GeoVision Does, all of their cards work with the same software and allow D1 recording (eg. NTSC 720x480). The hardware compression card is supposed to be the better quality, I cannot confirm that. Most well known DVR cards will do D1 these days. In fact it's been many years since I have seen one that does not, other than cheap stand alone DVRs or the ones on NewEgg. Hardware compression cards ARE more expensive, but they do not equal D1, they just typically equal better quality, less PC resources used, and more cards to one system. Remember that you are mostly paying for the software, good software costs money, at least in this industry.

    Geovision Software Issue?

Hi, have you checked here yet? A couple threads on this topic: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3287 viewtopic.php?f=12&t=12156 viewtopic.php?f=36&t=14377

Has anyone tried Windows 7 with Geovision

Quick question, how are you guys imaging the Win 7 DVRs? I just imaged a Win7 Starter Edition drive and its 9.5GB, compared to XP's average 1-1.5GB!! Looks like we need blue ray for that? (unless I am missing something?)
