  1. I think he is probably inquiring because so many new home PCs seem to be coming with Windows 7 64 bit now? I still prefer XP myself though.

    KT&C Bullet Cam Problem

Try a different power supply. Those cameras draw very little current so dont need a huge power supply, but it might just be bad. If its in a distributed PSU with other cameras, connect it to a separate PSU and see what happens. Still does it, bad camera.
  3. from the CCTV cameras quoted looks like he was being a guinea pig for them anyway. other then that the bandwidth will be the next issue.

    AVTECH DVR

Never heard of AGI until now. Seems it is a distributor/rep for various brands, and is based out of the USA. I dont know if they sell AvTech DVRs though.
  5. Are they on this forum too?
  6. Ok I registered .. where is the demo? FYI i dont just mean a download of the software, I mean a demo, with video also, does it exist?

    Image fading on cameras (sample)

Try a different Power strip The power stabilizer (brand and type?) might not be working properly either, so take that out of the equation temporarily. Still the same, remove 4 of the power supplies and change the 5th one, see if that camera is better. If it is, then ALL of them probably got hit. Those little plug in adapters do die very easily.

  9. Yeah i see what you mean. I would actually like that very left side section to go back to how it was before, this new one is hard to see what is new and what is not, sometimes it is red sometimes not, or has the funny "i" and bubbles Sometimes old is good .. long as it works.
  10. I forgot to mention, but I figured this is a new problem and it was working fine before, if the picture goes black at night, or has fading issues at night, and it is a new install, the wire could be the incorrect type or gauge for that camera and distance. This normally only happens with larger powerful IR cameras though, not the standard IR bullets or IR domes.

    Camera video samples website

Its something I wanted to do, but cannot do from here. Will need to get Demos from the camera manufacturers, they sometimes send them and you can send them back - shipping and Customs is too expensive to do that here. As you can deal mostly with the manufacturer's right in the USA, or their reps. Then, you create your own sample images using the right location/s (maybe 2 different locations) and several applications, such as day, night, backlight, car headlights, etc. We all know it can differ from one location to the next, but it is better then nothing, which is what the manufacturers give us now. The CCTVFootage site is more general, it can be for any kind of CCTV footage, it is even being used for DVR demo videos, so its not really just targeting camera samples.

    Image fading on cameras (sample)

I went to a job I didn't install, over the past month, twice, first time a camera was doing exactly what his image was doing but only at night (it had a blinking LED that came on with the IR which might have had some bearing on that one), changed the power supply, problem went away. All cameras were (thought to be) on small cheap 500ma power supplies as that is what I saw on the first trip, but I missed something probably amongst the spaghetti of other wiring and power strips. Another 2 cameras started to do it a couple weeks later, but more of non stop flickering in the day also, as in the OP's color video ... I went back again ... found that 2 cameras were actually tied into 1 single power supply. So I changed the power supply and that fixed the problem. Bingo. Cant find Distributed power supplies down here, so had to use Radio Shack 12VDC 2.5a adapters. Ofcourse it is going to happen again and I told them so, unless they put it all on some kind of Voltage Regulation. If I had installed it, that would have been a requirement no matter how broke they are.
  13. there is the view the latest post on the right side?
  14. Check the LPR link i provided on the Geo. There are other LPR software out there but they are normally very expensive. What you explained is the jist of how they all work though. Im sure you can have it customized also, or even customize it yourself or using a 3rd party. Check The Bosch REG Cameras, for LPR. They use to be "Extreme CCTV" cameras so you might see that name listed on this forum alot.

Definitely a power issue and as mentioned first thing I would check is the Power Supply.

    Does 4x2 = 8?

Yes with the new cards and 8.3 you can stack them now.
  17. firmware is the software that runs the DVR, much like the Windows OS on a PC plus the DVR software.
  18. other option is to run a separate cable to each TV, from the CCTV System, if the TV has RCA input (A/V). Or if its a PC based DVR and the TV has VGA, etc could go that route.
  19. Windows has the built in Hotkeys API, very easy for the developer to add to any application: I would suggest only adding it in as an option though, keep it simple (KISS), then allow then to turn on the additional features if they want it. Declare Function RegisterHotKey Lib "user32" (ByVal hWnd As Long, ByVal id As Long, ByVal fsModifiers As Long, ByVal vk As Long) As Long Declare Function UnregisterHotKey Lib "user32" (ByVal hWnd As Long, ByVal id As Long) As Long
  20. If you want the TV out using the Geo software, you would need a combo card, or additional hardware. A Core 2 Duo should be fine for your application, in fact a Pentium Dual Core Should work fine also. You don't necessarily need a separate drive (unless one drive fails alone), but a separate partition is suggested. Turn off recycle bin on the video drives.
  21. Well the uploader utility is only for the firmware i think (been a while since i used one of these).
  22. ok then .. maybe run a script with a delay ... something that connects to them and tells them to set the time zone back? I dont know what cameras you are connecting to so cant help there. I think axis has querystring commands but cant say for sure, some other IP cameras might have that also. Yeah I know, this should be done in their code, why they dont just use the user's timezone, or give the user the option to set it?
  23. 1st check - bad camera power supply. 2nd check - bad camera if its the blinking eclipse cctv camera, its more then likely the power supply. Not the best DVR for evidence sharing, the CPCam is the AvTech, please search on it. Take a look here please: http://scorpiontheater.com/avtparts.aspx As mentioned, might be time to upgrade, but if you are as tight on money as I am, you probably just want to get it working. If you cant find the exact battery, see if you can find an equivalent from a local photo store, radio shack, electronic store, or pharmacy, etc.
  24. 1 7200 rpm drive should work fine without the power supply upgrade. They were designed for 2x 5400rpm drives. Just delete the partition, set to master, plug in and should be good to go, it should even partition it according to others, if it has an existing partition, so you could try that first if its easier.
