which kind of cameras will be popular in the coming 2 years?
rory replied to Terry_yang's topic in Security Cameras
BW Exview, best low light camera chip still IMO. Otherwise, I am certain we have posted them in the past, the forum has been around from 2003, however, it is not suggested as those images are part of security system and it might be detrimental to the client to have their security system images all over the internet. -

OK, you want detail? You want low light? Check out this night shot from the new Canon 1D Mark IV. Gorgeous. Best, Christopher To be fair, there is a ton of light in that image, but yeah my samsung digital still camera sucks at night with any amount of light -
I hope they don't mean the Best Buy Geek Squad...

Oh yeah one more thing, did you remove Geo completely then reinstall? Remove all the Geo*.ini files from the windows directory also, and in the registry remove the geovision keys in the user and local machine software sections. Delete the C:\GV1480 folder. Run CCleaner then reinstall geo and try again? Make sure its the right version of geo. -

YES. thats what it looks like actually. PAL on NTSC here ... I see that with my USB TV device when testing cameras on my laptop, it always defaults to PAL if a setting is changed before changing the other setting .. nothing to do with Geovision though. Thing is though .. i cant remember seeing a setting for PAL/NTSC with geo?? Although there is a file in the Windows directory called geoPal.ini, [General] VideoStand=1 PAL=0 Not sure if that even makes a difference but it is worth checking out, obviously it should be PAL=0, not PAL=1. Though maybe this PAL means something different LOL. -

Another thing you could do is get another hard drive, or repartition his existing drive if its large enough, and install XP on that. At least you will take any software he has running out of the equation. Perhaps some driver for other hardware is causing the issue. What other hardware is installed, or what drivers are installed but the hardware missing? yes I prefer SP2, but SP3 should not cause the issue you are having, its just some mostly useless updates anyway once the OS is tweaked as i list in the Geo sub forum. If you only have SP3 no problem. Well you have done most of the testing already, if its working in the other PC then its down to this one. I would try fresh XP first, then start switching hardware until finding the culprit. Heck, his hard drive might even be bad, but I would start with the DVD/CD, if 2 strips of ram take each one out at a time, use one from the test PC if possible, etc. Lastly, you could try to default the BIOS incase he has been playing around in there. -

This is the security industry, approx 50% of the time the location will be dark (with the rare exception of a 24 hour business) and the majority of criminals will target a place under the cover of darkness. It would be lovely to be able to pick only the jobs that have perfect lighting .. but life is not perfect - so essentially, we cant get away from low lighting, we just have to work with it. I hear you though, you like megapixel cameras and alot of light. Im in the CCTV business though, unfortunately I cant pick and choose like that -

check your system and application event log first. see if there is anything strange going on there. make sure you are not using vga Extenders for the pigtails. make sure there is no high voltage running near the DVR or camera cables. some things to try .. 1-Try a different monitor 2-Try different pigtails - would need to borrow from another geo DVR, or buy new. 3-Disconnect all cameras, power a test camera up locally and plug it into it direct. 4-take out all unnecessary hardware (eg. DVD, Modem) or simply disconnect them from the mobo. 5-move the PC, monitor, and test camera to a completely different location. 6-reformat Computer and install Windows XP SP2, install all Drivers, Load DVR software. 7-Change Video Card. 8-Change Power Supply. 9-Change Motherboard. 10-Change DVR Card ..... as DVR card is the most difficult thing to get, thats the last thing i would try, unless you have easy access to a replacement. -

lets see it under low light, side by side with the pano. -
No No .. the ICR does nothing to the camera .. it just blocks the IR!
-
oh lawd .. .LOL!! On a serious note, to the OP. Please post messages that we can understand, this is not facebook or texting. If you cannot do that, please refrain from posting at all. Additionally, please do not post the same thread in multiple forums. We appreciate the need to learn but please remember people will not help you if you cannot help yourself, and that would start by typing out your sentences clearly.

Come on now, you know exactly what he means. I mean I realize there may be a slight language barrier but it cant be that bad, most of what we talk about on this forum is Remote Network Software for DVRs. -
There is plenty IR when the sun is out, you will see it mostly on things like bushes, grass, etc. So unless it is cloudy 100% of the time, you will notice the washed out colors from the Infrared, however, some cameras (not the cheap ones) now do a very good job of digitally enhancing the colors.
-
digital DN would just be the camera removing the chroma (color) and making other digital adjustments. Typically there wont be any ICR at all.
-
Im not sure what your question is here, but ICR does not remove glare.
-
You can buy an IR cut filter separately, its just a filter that is placed in front of the camera. It does nothing but filter, in this case, block Infrared. With True Day Night Cameras, the camera has a mechanism that slides the IR Cut Filter back and forth. If you want a decent day and night image from a single camera, then it is recommended to use a True Day Night camera, over the basic Color IR camera - unless one can afford a dual day night camera (2 separate cameras in one). Mechanical ICR puts the price up, which is why the True Day Night cameras cost more then the color IR cameras. They normally use slightly better chips in the True Day Night cameras also. But its all about cost, you get what you pay for.

Correct. LOL. -
That doesnt sound right, whats the camera model? The ICR itself though wont make the camera a low light camera, it just puts a filter in front of the camera in the color mode to block out Infrared so you dont get glare and washed out colors, and removes the filter in BW mode so the camera can see IR light. The camera itself and moreso the chip has to do the rest of the work. By removing the filter it can also be more sensitive, but still the chip itself has to be capable.

Ok thanks. Guess I will stay clear of the Mona Lisa for now then Also, seems the image is interlaced? And was it focused properly? Maybe just water marks? -
If that is true, Geo will be loosing alot of customers. Many use them because of all the extra hardware they have. I wonder when they will stop the IR Remote also.
-
Also, try all the common passwords, 1111, 1234, 5678, 1122, 0000, etc. Some boards have batteries which can be removed for 3 days to reset the onboard memory. Also some require taking the battery out and reversing the polarity for a few seconds to reset (motherboards warn this can cause battery explosion though so dont try unless it says so). And then if you can access it via the network or USB to flash the firmware, that could also clear the passwords. (must be correct firmware) Otherwise might have to wait to hear back from the manufacturer, they may have a hidden password.

Not sure what the images in Soundy's post are from, but thats pretty poor low lighting, more then likely it is a Color IR camera though, not true Day night? Anyway, the one you listed is their new "Mona Lisa" version. No idea how well it works. The claims are impressive and supposedly it has an ICR, making it True Day Night. -
You say its a Gen IV DVR? if so, then you should contact the manufacturer, intellicam.
