    street cctv cameras

Hi, it is advised to type out your sentences properly, otherwise people wont understand you and then you wont get a proper answer. As mentioned there is no need for shorthand here, it is not a chat room or cell phone.

    fault on GE STORESAFE PRO11

Not sure on the Storesafe pro but the standard ones were only suppose to handle 2x5400 rpm drives. One 7200rpm should work though and the new HDDs are less current now anyway. But the PSU was apparently the issue and there were upgrade kits. Though I am not sure how old yours is. Could just be a bad HDD. Seems like it is pointing towards a power issue though.

That looks awesome. I wish we could get stuff like that here, easy that is.
  8. Hi Simo, please do. Also, any more info you can give on your custom setup would be great. thanks Rory
  9. post any info on a DVR like this please, no big brands like bosch or GE, strictly affordable DVRs - no store links please. >> 4-CH DVR >> FULL D1 Live Video >> FULL D1 Recording on ALL Channels >> Separate network server with adjustable settings that dont effect the recorded/live local video >> Completed and usable STABLE Network software and ActiveX >> Backup to AVI Lets face it, we can grab a Geo or other DVR card and a cheap $200 PC and wham you have a PC DVR that can do all of this and then some ... BUT in many cases a PC DVR cannot be used due to certain restrictions, eg. overheating in harsh environments, viruses, etc ... software like Geovision 8.3 is demanding much faster CPU and more memory, and the size of that PC to be able to withstand any kind of temperature issues outside of a cooled environment ... thats where a simple stand alone embedded DVR comes in handy ... plus it is basically plug and play. 4 channel embedded DVRs are just what most need, a small unit that can fit on a shelf in a tight spot, thats when we have to leave the PC DVR on the side and go with one of these more featureless systems. Many of these 4 channel DVRs today though have alot of issues associated with them. Most only record in CIF, some do 1 channel D1 and the rest in CIF but then have major issues with streaming all 4 cameras on the network. Then some of the higher quality ones dont have separate streams or adjustable bandwidth so the remote video would be clear but slow and in many cases unusable on slower connections such as DSL (128k upload here). If you have found something that works good please post some info on it. if you are unsure PM me and I will check it out first. If you have a problem with anything I said, go ahead and speak your mind. Thanks.

    USA Mexico border security system

long range PTZ over wireless network?
  12. Yeah it was strange, I tested another DVR which has been OEM'd from Korea, and it has that same feature, one has to turn on de interlace on playback. I didnt check but I wonder if when you save the video for evidence sharing, if enabling deinterlace in playback makes any differences.

    Will Geovision work whit Atom?

Yes you are right boot time is boot time and the GUI in operating state is diff, but overall Geo 8.3 is so much slower then 8.12, the GUI and everything about it is slower. I just dont understand why they had to destroy a good thing like that. I can (and have/do) run 8.12 on a celeron and it would still fly, 8.3 .. never LOL.

    Will Geovision work whit Atom?

thats a high end CPU underclocked or not. The Atom is slooowwwww. How long is your Geo startup time though? On a 2.5 Pentium Dual Core I setup, clocked at 2500 mhz it takes several minutes to start up. Versions 8,12 could take a minute but not as long as 8.3 ... its messed up as the XP system itself boots to the desktop in less then 15 seconds.

    Power Supply Help

And they think it's work every penny. Last week someone posted a photo of an alarm installation van in traffic with aluminum ladders on the roof. All hell broke loose. Of course, every now and then an installer makes a bid for a Darwin Award, so they do have a point. I also visit the woodworking forum on occasion. Recently some guy was using a contractors tablesaw balanced on an ice chest. According to the news report, it was unknown if the surgery to reattach his hand would be successful. We all take risks, some more than others. Best, Christopher we take a risk just getting out of bed in the morning

    Power Supply Help

I wouldnt tell them to power CCTV cameras over cat5, least not without more info. For example, trying to power EX82s with cat5 tripled up at even just 50', will not work. In some cases with other cameras it may work, but best to do it right and not have to worry about it. IMO.

    Power Supply Help

The standard is to run them all back to a distributed fused power supply. I dont know what you mean by a power block, but if its high voltage I would keep it as far away from the cameras and their video cable as possible.

    Power Supply Help

Hi, one thing though, dont use electrical cable ... use 18AWG cable. Better yet, RG59 Siamese Cable (w/ 18 awg power cable) Copper in and out. And yes you are correct about running power over cat5, though that also depends on the camera used and distance.

    ir distance

Hi, sounds like every other cheap color IR CMOS bullet camera, and I have used many in the past (with regret ofcourse!) 1-It is CMOS which is not the best for Day Night apps. 2-It is a cheap COLOR IR camera, not a TRUE day night camera, therefor its sensitivity to IR, and in low light, will not be that great. 3-The 40 meters is obviously overrated, and normally the IR distances quoted are for indoors where it is much easier for the IR to work due to all the reflective surfaces closer to the IR. You probably have nothing for its small amount of IR to reflect off, therefore you would need to try and flood the area with IR or add additional lighting. Now, all that is said based on that the IR is actually working? Also, check out this video of a more expensive True Day Night CCD IR bullet with in fact 50-60' outdoor IR built in. See the comment on the page for information: http://www.cctvfootage.com/video/Day-Night-IR-Bullet-with-Extra Another note, it could be one of the best IR cameras in the world but placement is everything. You really should go outside and connect a monitor to it direct, and adjust it that way, with the lights off, so you can see the IR beam and see how well it is actually working. If you want to do it right, day night apps require some day and night time adjustments. Edit, I just looked at the camera on Ebay, specs are incorrect. It says 380TVL but also says total pixels are 811x508 .. also for that price, you will be lucky if it sees anything indoors! Also, it states 400ma current draw, so 500ma power should work. if you want, see if you can get your hands on some damaged IR bullets, all you want is the IR part of it. I have 2 IR cams powered together here, a bullet and a dome like that, the dome barely adds any IR to the photo, but it does help a little bit. I only have the bullet video enabled ofcourse. im using a single 2a plug in power supply i bought from a local electronic store for $20, to power 2 IR Bullets, a Color bullet, and the extra IR Dome, as they dont draw that much current - if it were an Extreme CCTV IR camera like the EX82 though, for example, that draws 2a DC at night or 1a in the day.
  22. Do you have a demo login?
  23. Same here, I dont sell without testing first. I dont care what a manufacturer claims it is like at their locations, it is different here. The Q24 does look good though, dont see how can go wrong with it as its color only anyway.

    Will Geovision work whit Atom?

no I doubt it, the atom is way to slow. Eg. 1.6 atom is around the same clocked speed as 900 Mhz celeron, approx 700mhz. More appropriate Question would be does it work with a Celeron such as a 2-3Ghz Celeron, but 8.3 Geo will typically not, even on a Pentium dual core 2.5Ghz, 8.3 is too slow, it is much different from the older 8.xx versions. Okay, it might eventually load, but the GUI will probably be next to useless. I am somewhat led to believe Geovision must now develop their Server software on 16GHz Supercomputers with 32GB of Memory.
