  1. you can upload pics to www.tinypic.com and they give you links to share them, post here or in pm etc. Also, did you confront him yet in person? I think you can buy wifi jammers as well, or maybe even look for some of those wireless camera finders.
  2. the educated ones are fine, they know what they want which makes it easier. if they dont know but are just smart azzes and are annoying then i walk away.
  3. take some photos of it and show us?
  4. well in that case you would have to be buying lenses and cameras just to play with and that costs alot of money, not everyone is rich boss. Buying lenses and cameras and just randomly testing combinations is certainly not a recommended method of education, and it surely doesn't teach you HOW things work. Well unless you have a hands on, and that would mean buying the lenses and cameras, then you are still just blindly relying on what someone else is telling you.

  6. if you are going to use a 1/2" lens, just get a 1/2" camera.
  7. no, it was similar but it was several years ago so a different model and ntsc, true day night 520TVL with mech filter.
  8. BTW the camera in that animated gif I posted was from a Sanyo Day night box camera with a standard AI lens ... worked great once adjusted properly
  9. Never heard of them, can you post a link? Also, Extreme has cameras that can illuminate for miles. Then again, I cant make out a person 800' or miles away. Ps. how do you know they are better then Extreme CCTV cameras, have you used Extreme CCTV cameras also? if they can do this with a 5 year warranty and been around for 10 years then im sold:
  10. yeah i forgot that too, the IR power control is almost non existent with most built in IR cameras ... EX82 gives you power but I doubt they were speaking about that type of camera. as for insects all cameras here get them anyway, due to the heat emitted from their housing, small bullets get hotter so they get them the most, and ofcourse the IR. Regardless of cameras i can walk outside some nights and there are just clouds of insects hovering in mid air near a bush .. its crazy!! Cant live without bug screens here anyway, its just the way of the tropics, and oh yeah, iron bars too. But hey least we dont have deadly insects like in the land down under
  11. There can be a HUGE difference ... built in IR is good for budget IR jobs but to get really good IR setup you need to separate it. For example, you will rarely find an IR camera with built in IR at more then 30 degrees, while your lens may be fixed at 70-90 degrees. Additionally as mentioned you have control over where the IR beam is pointed and that alone can make or break the system. I spent years with Extreme CCTV's EX82s and while I found they blow away most other built in IR cameras, they still are not as good as box cameras with separate IR floods.

    geovision V8.3 No TCP Server

each multi view window is a separate activeX control, separate connection. Are these new cards? If not can you not go back to an older version like 8.12? thats the last one Im using and it works great. From 8.2 it all went down hill and 8.3 just killed it for me totally. Too many problems with their 8.3 activeX as well.

cant view my dvr over net or lan

Try telnet to it, open command prompt and type; telnet IP PORT note, -you have to first be connected to the local router, same one the DVR is on -setup the DVR with a STATIC IP address, subnet and gateway, for the router. -make sure both IPs are in the same range
  14. also check for any high voltage recently installed near the cable.
  15. I used it years ago and it looks the same but it might have changed since then, It was pretty bad back then, alot like the AvTech type of quality.

580, 540, 650, same diff, what really matters is the total pixels and from one to the next they are pretty much the same anyway, 811x508.
  18. You mean the G4 Intellicam right? I dont know of any GE DVRs with an HDMI output.

    Viewlog Playback Choppy on V8.31

Hmmm. Strange. Although a default XP install should be tweaked it shouldnt cause that problem. make sure all cores are being recognized, check task manager. Also, in power options in control panel. select Always on mode for full CPU speed all the time. Remove Logmein for now, though it should be fine, just for now, it runs a couple extra services in the background so if you dont want to remove it, just goto administrative tasks, services, and disable them there, as well as removing from startup using run, msconfig. Check your event logs .... order by type of message, look for errors (big red and white X). Disable System Restore, Automatic Updates, and Hibernation. Check temperatures .... CPU maybe overheating, or hard drives. But sounds more like video as the playback on another PC is fine? Check video card .. if the motherboard has onboard video perhaps try that .. is the motherboard chipset Intel? If you want to run some reports to let us look at that is fine. Run a Hijack This report, also post the event logs, and a hardware report if you can. How are the hard drives setup, recycle bins disabled on the video drives? Etc.

    Geovision DVR Bootup

just an example of how fast it could (should) be ... will get more videos when i can .. this is 8.12 BTW .. I dont have a 8.3 card to play with right now, but my example for right now is of the System itself anyway. I got a free second hand 150GB raptor from someone BTW and thats what Im using in this to test it out. Ofcourse that means more current draw and more heat (and noise!) but imagine how much faster a decent SSD would be. Also, im using a 10GB partition and I have over 5GB free even after the page file. Special stripped down version of XP and no errors in the event logs. All drivers installed. Note. without the DVR card and drivers it is a half a bar faster http://www.cctvfootage.com/video/Geovision-DVR-TWEAKED

    Viewlog Playback Choppy on V8.31

Hi, Geo uses alot of Ram, how much ram do you have, also which OS? Other things to look at are what else is running/installed on the computer. Perhaps also do a full test of the hard drive. Rory
  22. download snapshot from http://www.drivesnapshot.de/en/ image the DVR drive right away, put it on a removable drive and take that home so you can view the video, yes you can map and explore the image and therefore you will have time to figure out the digi playback.

Need couple of articles written on CCTV

just note that whoever you get to write an article will be pushing their products in most cases. Also, plenty of hype and inaccurate information floating around these days.
