Best indoor camera for small convenience store under 100$?
rory replied to melisandeneowald's topic in Security Cameras
They are the manufacturer like I make Ford Mustangs in my back yard I had to remove the link to the store per the forum rules, but that second camera looks like a different brand. I would lean towards the first one even though its not the 550 model, but its up to you. The whole Ebay thing worries me though. -
Best indoor camera for small convenience store under 100$?
rory replied to melisandeneowald's topic in Security Cameras
actually that camera looks like the CNB D1710N (google it) ... same specs and looks. So yeah should be fine, though I would go with one that actually has the name, CNB is an actual manufacturer, so is KT&C. Ask them who the manufacturer is, see if they will answer. It doesnt mean it is better, but it will give you a better idea of the "real" specs, not just specs an online store made up, for example - and I am NOT hating on online stores. Also, here is another thing, right now you will find most high res color CCTV cameras with 550TVL, the 480TVL cameras are typically discontinued by the manufacturer, and is why one might get a better deal on them from a dealer/online site as they are trying to clear them away. Not to say they are not good, just not the latest. The effective and total pixels with a 480 and 550 TVL are actually typically the same anyway. You tend to get some more features with the newer one though such as more sensitivity under low lighting and also cooler chips with lower power consumption. But the newer ones are not always easy to find as I mentioned the dealers etc are trying to clear away the previous products. I would love to recommend one of our advertisers for the CNB but I dont know of any that sell that product. However, they may have a similar one from a different brand so I would check with them as well, CNB is not the only brand out there with those specs. Rory -

something like ... if you are really broke ->> CNB-DM1700N color bullet - KPC-VBN190NHB color indoor dome - CNB-D3710N they all need lots of light. add a motion light. there are better cameras for a little more $$ though .. but the above are in your budget at MSRP. -

if you mean the truck? Doesnt seem to have a front plate is all. Also, im sure they would have got the plate before the truck was going out of the image. -
not here. actually, they robbed the main house by me here this morning, between 9-11am, and a vehicle was even in the driveway and somebody was home. They are much more bold now. They could care less about alarms and cameras now. Ofcourse things are different here. Here the burglars dont care if they live or die. Guns are illegal here for self defense unlike in the US, but many have shotguns (for pigeon hunting), and those that dont, will jump at the chance to chap the burglars with machetes or pelt them with rocks and bottles. And if one goes to prison here, they might as well be dead anyway, its that bad.

down here i always disable the AGC and Back lighting as its too bright in the day with our sun. No physical adjustments on the lens or camera housing? Check the night mode? 1/4" CMOS ouch. -

Does it have an Iris, backlighting or AGC adjustment? What happens to the image when the sun is out? -

"Plugs directly into a SATA connector on a mainboard. " - that's pretty slick! That would be perfect for a system/OS drive. Most of my builds, I only slice off a 10GB-15GB system partition as it is. Pretty slow: Read 24 MB/sec.; Write 14 MB/sec hey, speeed up that slow laptop Read 160 MB/sec.; Write 140 MB/sec. $159.99 http://www.logicsupply.com/products/fd2510si8g use a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter for the DVR/NVR? -

Have you tried the Svideo out from the video card? I had CCTV CRT monitors working like that. Much better quality than the LCD monitor, especially for playback. So yes I had both the LCD and the CRT Monitor viewing the same thing. Its been a while but it was using an ATI card and I just cloned it. -
Turn CPU PSU to supply PWR for CCTV?
rory replied to paparaaaapa's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Only if you get a cheap junky one. The ANTEC in my PC has been working great for years. 550W, cost me about $45. Switching-mode supply, tightly regulated, up to 15A on the 12VDC rails. No, it's not the "proper" or "ideal" solution or even designed for that purpose, but there's no reason it can't work just fine. Ive used some of the most expensive Antec and others and they fail regularly, but we dont have great power like Canada. I mean i have also seen a $5 power supply run for 10 years, just luck. If they want to use it thats up to them, I wont tell them its okay though. -

hard drive and PSUs are the things that fail all the time here, due to heat mostly (or from power issues if they dont have it on a voltage regulator). the air temp outside is 90 but inside it is much much hotter unless there is AC. -
Turn CPU PSU to supply PWR for CCTV?
rory replied to paparaaaapa's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Computer PSUs are very unreliable though, I would be concerned about noise also. For the same price or just a couple dollars more you could just buy a Fused Distributed Power Supply designed for CCTV, or even cheaper buy an Standard Altronix Power supply which is going to be alot better than the PC power supply and also cost alot less. IN fact, cheaper yet is a 2amp plug in power supply you can get in the US for around $5 from any electronic store, I use one to power several cameras at my place - granted its not the best option, in fact its the same idea as you are doing now, issues with video and grounding/noise arise using that method. But hey, if you have a computer PSU to waste -

Fahrenheit. Mostly 80s and 90s. We have a cold front right now though, will be mid to high 80's all this week. This is the hottest year yet and longest summer I have seen. -
looking to upgrade my system !
rory replied to volito's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Yeah and I will need a 8 Ghz Quadruple Core CPU to run it .. with a 3 Ghz Dual Core tweaked system it takes literally 5-10 minutes to start .. in my book that is rubbish. Their new logo as far as I am concerned is .. "it just keeps getting slower" .. they and Microsoft are the same in that regard. -

Luxriot will not work with Geovision They using somebody else card But you can run both analog and IP on Geovision too! If it is not a copy then! JD That said, I had Luxriot and others using a GV250 2 port geo card on just 1 channel, using the Bt878 drivers Additionally, Geo was doing well until 8.2 and their IP Camera integration with a crap load of more services and add ons. They need to take a step back and just do what they do well, DVR cards. With 8.3 you have no choice but to load your DVR down with a ton of rubbish they make you install now. Sorry, they lost me there. -
I cant connect either using my software, well it connects but no data so disconnects. All ports seem open on that but maybe not working properly. It just keeps trying to connect and times out, have you reset the webcam server?Check your permissions also, enable cameras etc for the certain user. Do you have any firewall or antivirus on your DVR? Try changing the HTTP port to another such as 81 or 82. Ofcourse you are running 8.3 .. thats loaded with issues anyway.
