Hi, this addresses both of your threads. Regarding the password, an old answer I had was for older Geo Versions not the 8.xx ones, but either way unfortunately it sounds like you have totally messed up the geo install. Like it or not best bet would be to format the PC. You could just try removing all the Geo installs, then removing all the geo*.ini files in the windows folder. Then delete any GV folders, and run CCleaner or another registry cleaner program. Restart and reinstall Geo. Note you will need to install the drivers for that version of Geo first, before you try to run the Geo program, so install them first. Some older cards will not run with some newer Geo software. Also the OS you use might be an issue, make sure it is 32bit., if its Windows 7 for example you may encounter issues. BTW Doing this you will loose all your Geo settings. Still, that does not clear the password in the registry but i am unsure at this time exactly where it is and also not allowed to say it in the public forum. However it might get rid of the run time error you mentioned you were getting.

Which dvr footage backup type do you prefer?
rory replied to blake's topic in Digital Video Recorders
i do both, i prefer USB, everyone has a USB slot, but CD/DVD is better for a more permanent backup (though they get scratched). In fact, I prefer to use the SD-USB Adapter with an SD card. In most cases, CD or DVD is more practical. I almost always backup to USB hard drive first though, then do the rest off site. In those cases, the DVR doesnt need a CD or DVD drive at all. -
Ofcourse RG59 and RG6 BNC connectors are also the most common.

Box camera is "typically" a professional camera, with better quality and more features. Additionally you can use various lenses on a box camera, where as most dome cameras are proprietary for that particular dome (normally due to the wire attached from the lens to the board, though microvarifocal board lenses can be changed, they are not as easy to find). When and where to use which one will depend on you, the application, and the client.

LAN vs. WAN, mpeg4 vs. H.264 transmission quality questions
rory replied to serbokl's topic in Security Cameras
Most H264 DVR's remote video is low quality, especially the rock bottom priced ones like QSee. Hey, its higher compression for more frames over slower connections. -

ACTi ACM-7411 anyone with night shots?
rory replied to 3RDIGLBL's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
For non IR the focus shift would normally occur during low light before the IR kicks in or the sunlight comes out. Used non IR lenses with IR and day night cameras for years, and had no real issues with them. -
Just get a UF500 and flood that baby! Oh whoops yeah you need one serious power supply for that

Looks like the Iris is closed too much. Also check power and the lens. -
Painting cameras. How many customers want you to do this.
rory replied to blake's topic in Security Cameras
Yeah well I live in the Bahamas and almost 100% of my work is outdoors. Sun is out most the time and even in the shade here it can get extremely hot. -
Looks okay but yeah I found the specs in a cache of google and it doesnt mention an IR cut filter. Its going to be the standard Color IR Dome, nothing really any more special than the others, HQ1 chips are mostly found in the budget bullets anyway, the newer version maybe a little better than the ones I used in the past, they claim they dont get as hot now. I found some of the sales pitch on that site ... hilarious though I mean it is what it is .. once it does that job thats what matters
-
Ive used Dual Cameras before yes, not necessarily those specs, but this: http://products.boschsecurity.us/en/TAMS/products/bxp/SKUPFT6203688075.P1.F.01U.080.080-CATM8fdf64030c835c8e9ff035f126e5edf5

Ive used the HQ1 chip and its typically not a low light chip. Imagine the min illumination spec on that camera is actually the faceplate spec which is not the standard (eg. 0.01 faceplate would be actuallty 0.1 standard). The quality shouldnt be due to that chip either, Ive seen better on old Sony Chip cameras. Just depends on the camera really, like what you have seen in the past compared to this model. I am happy you are happy though

Microsoft's 'Xp Mode' for Win7 breathes new life into 32-bit
rory replied to Tailbone215's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Yeah i setup the XP Virtual Box PC on my computer, then carry it on my USB drive and dump it on the other PC where it is suppose to be. Only thing ofcourse there sometimes are hardware issues but rare. One issue I did have though was with drivers not working on a Mac Mini, guess thats where fusion comes into play. -
Own a Geovision card? Do yourself a favor, check out Livevue
rory replied to RichTJ99's topic in Geovision
Yes you are correct. I did some versions for other cards and DVRs in the beginning but Geo had the market share and is (was) much easier to work with. -

rory replied to Tailbone215's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Yeah but you also need Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate to run Windows XP Mode. Notice though that even MS recognizes XP is not going away any time soon -
or just playback the video you want and hit snapshot or record.

rory replied to bpzle's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Firstly, i typed BROWSER BASED APPS suck, if you want to take that as this software that is entirely up to you, but it is not what i typed. Secondly if you want to know why I think browser based apps suck, please use the search as it is well documented on this forum already. -

So we get it, you like browser based apps and also have no clue about decent CCTV or securing your clients property, thats fine. Personal? How could it be coming from an anonymous forum user that calls themselves ak357. -

NO, what i dont deal in is explaining myself to people that are ANAL about everything, people That want to nit pick EVERYTHING that someone types on a forum just in some feeble attempt to make themselves look better to potential clients. Do as you please but if you are going to reply to me make sure it is worth it. -

rory replied to bpzle's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Im really getting tired of how anal some of you guys are. Its like talking to 10 year olds sometimes. I dont have explain anything but I said BROWSER BASED APPS SUCK. Anything that has to run within a browser sucks. That is my opinion. I could explain it more in depth but I dont see any point as I dont care whether you or anyone else uses it or not. End of story. -

Guess I need to repeat myself: Browser based apps suck. Best to install a client. If they want to use crappy software, thats their rights. But ofcourse, everything posted on this forum is just a persons opinion. -
