PICTURES: Installing Panasonic dome outside under eave
rory replied to alpine0000's topic in Security Cameras
That type of camera is mostly for applications with strong backlighting and glare, not necessarily low light apps, Eg; Car lights, Door entry ways, etc, with backlighting issues. You can get that same image there out of a Sanyo or most other True Day Night cameras for a much lower cost. But if one shines a light at it, thats where it will beat the rest -

I just wish they didnt make that dome mount so huge. -
2 options 1-Just delete the folder under geo called webtemp eg. c:\GV600\webtemp Then unzip the webtemp zip folder I will attach and copy that there instead. That is from a 7.0.5 version though, but newer versions work with older versions, just not the other way around before 7.0 and after 8.2 - so it should work. 2-Remove the existing install - that means totally uninstall it, delete all the geo*.ini files in the C:\Windows folder also. Delete the folder C:\GV600 as well (or whatever it might be named). Run CCleaner and do a cleanup and registry cleanup as well. Restart the computer then Reinstall the 7.0 software again. Opinions on Worldeyecam and Intellipix 4 camera DVR system.
rory replied to SecurityTech's topic in General Digital Discussion
How is the recorded quality though? Plenty people say they love Avtech DVRs but the quality is awful IMO. Most other 4 channels with CIF only quality, you cant even make out a face close up to the camera .. thats how bad they are. How is this in comparison? Also, does the price range compare to the AvTech or the Avermedia? -
ok its telling me the DVR server software is 7.0, but the ActiveX is 6.xx .. did someone maybe try an upgrade or something??
-
Looks like it is version 6.0.1.0 on that server. Give me a minute I will check it out some more.
-
you could try this .. loads the 7.0 activeX which works with 6.xx up to 8.2 http://www.bahamassecurity.com/software/geovision/livexinstall.asp

If you are connecting directly to the server then there shouldnt be a problem unless the OCX checker is using an already installed version (should install the appropriate one but it may not). Clear your history, cache etc in IE. Remove downloaded Webcam OCX (C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files) Try again.

No idea, but they never had "the" market share anyway. Least not in the US. -

It mentions IR but no ICR, might want to look into that. ICR is an Infrared Cut Filter, without it daytime images typically look bad due to washed out colors and additional Infrared glare from the Sun. If its just a very budget job then you probably arent worried about it though. But sometimes for just $20-$40 more you can get the same model in True Day/Night with the IR Cut filter. -

Im trying to figure this out, why would they have a HDMI output, but have such low quality recording? CIF is useless for evidence sharing and lets be honest, that is what a CCTV system is for. Or am I missing something? 1 channel in D1 and the rest in CIF is still not good enough IMO. As mentioned, though as many of these budget 4 channel DVRs the avermedia has its own issues, but it does record in D1 on every channel. -
neither of those. Get either a 420TVL with a fixed lens, or a 530+TVL with a Varifocal AI Lens. AI Varifocal lenses are obviously better than a basic fixed board lens, but you may not need it in that location. If you can get a Varifocal lens with a 2.8-11mm lens then that should cover the wide view you want, with less blurr on the edges as found with 2.8mm fixed lenses. it is true that TVL is not what counts, it is the Total Effective Pixels that matters, check the specs for that, if it doesnt even say that, perhaps skip that camera and look for one that does, you want somewhere in the area of 811x508 for a high res camera, the lower res (eg. 420TVL) will be around 508x .. BTW if you cant locate a dome with a 2.5 or 2.8mm lens already installed in it, you can always buy a camera with a 4mm fixed board lens, then buy a 2.5mm fixed board lens separately and install it yourself.

eb1301 net sata, remote viewing issue (SOLVED)
rory replied to Braven's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Turn down the quality and frames on the DVR, that will effect the Remote video speed also. Sounds like you might have a slow connection. -
I use AI no matter that its indoors, around the same price. Lenses are so cheap now, look for something like a Fujinon or Computar 2.8-11mm Varifocal F:1.2 lens. If you are going for cosmetics though a manual iris lens might be best, due to the wire showing on the AI lens.

as they said Zero fill will wipe it completely, though it could take hours. You could just do a full format then delete the partition, thats the most common method, though it doesnt wipe it as Zero fill does and forensic teams would still be able to get some data from it using special software.

I think he means without Direct Draw Overlay ... it is blocked. In other words looks okay in a small screen but when in larger or full screen it is bad. Thats a problem with the 8.3 ActiveX anyway. Basically it has EnableDirectDraw method, as with older versions of the LiveX ActiveX Control. HOWEVER, in this version it is disabled; says "Reserved for future use". The only way I can find to get Direct Draw overlay to be enabled is to set the Geo GUI mode .. basically that is new in the 8.3 activeX. What the SetGUIMode method does is give you 3 setting options: Control Panel, IP Camera Specific Control Panel, and traditional GUI. Multiview uses the traditional (though not default), which just shows the video while the other 2 options show text and buttons at the top of the video. The traditional allows right click for options (this messes up right click in custom apps though if GUI mode is set). The default is 0 though, and if not set then it will be 0, and without the GUI mode set, direct draw overlay is disabled. Another thing that might explain some pixelising, the decoding is done on the users PC now in 8.3, hence in the GeoVision 8.3 Server, the selection for a Codec in Webcam is missing. Now it is done in the LiveX ActiveX Control. So depending on the OS, the other dlls etc might not be loading properly. Though without the codec all together it normally just wont show any video, which is why I mentioned certain accompanying files might just not be loading. Hope that doesnt confuse you as much as it did me LOL. Another problem with 8.3 ActiveX is it crashes - ALOT. Ofcourse it could also just be a limit of his video card drivers or they arent installed correctly.

x64 shouldnt matter with software only but since you are trying to use direct draw etc the 64 bit might be an issue .. maybe try install XP in Virtual Box and run it inside that?

with this one i resize on the fly. it fits on the main form in the program given the standard fixed window size, but when resized full screen it will resize depending on the users screen width - but they can manually resize it as well. Besides a bunch of varying windows, which makes the screen division more difficult (more code is all) and looks not as good (eg. 4 blocks including a 1 way, 6 way, 9 way, 16 way - to make 32 way. The alternative Im looking at is a spot 32 way, where it is a 36 way (6x6) less 4 blocks to make it actually 33 - but the 1 bigger block would be where the camera goes when you click on a camera to enlarge it ... though thats not that large ...
-
@JD, im looking for ideas on a 32 channel screen .. have you seen any DVR GUIs with that yet? I know I can do 36 etc, but 32 is not the easiest as there is no even division. This is for my own custom Geo viewer. Thanks, Rory

Just a note: if using something like the Extreme CCTV EX82 Day Night IR camera use at least 18awg cable for power, not UTP.
