  1. its the old version of web service on the DVR. basically the older activeX control. Even with PSS you need version 4.05 to see the video. Here try this one instead, it uses the activeX from the latest firmware. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/webrec/

    Which Hard Drive?

Dahua Recommended HDD list, Oct 14, 2011 http://www.bahamassecurity.com/r/products/dahua/DH-HDD-LIST.pdf
  5. the little dahua dvrs dont even have fans .. no problems so far even in the extremely long summer we had here (we dont have fall), my apartment alone was sweltering for months on end and the DVR lasted .. and hard drive lasted. I got another in a clapboard building in the ghetto with no fan or anything and they keep the windows closed most the time .. lasted no issues .. surprisingly really as recommended against it due to the HDD likely to die from all that heat and no air. The 32 channel has a fan, I have 2 mounted at 2 different locations on the wall with the fan blowing up, but thats just how it worked out.
  6. yeah they kill you on that price .. never had the chance to mess with one of those, just cheaper add a spotlight

    Which Hard Drive?

Dahua recommend against using the green brand if at all possible.
  8. Replace the Cat6 with multipair UTP? Run another conduit?

    Geovision 'Video lost' messages v7.05

maybe bad cards or bad PC Sounds like time for a new DVR. When something that old starts to give problems, its generally not worth the labor in fixing it, especially with DVRs with similar or more features at much lower prices these days.
  10. Additionally, every Extreme CCTV product had its list price marked up X2. That doesnt mean thats what it was sold for at online retailers. And every reseller/distributor would be buying at different levels from Extreme. The nice thing about Extreme though, when they said 300' for example, it WAS 300', guaranteed everytime to be what they said it was. In fact they were so good with their calculations and testing that I myself made up the UF100 diagram you see above (based on the UF500 diagram and my experience using the UF100), and verified it with them. But yeah even at dealer cost they were expensive. Either way, its a pity they dont make the UF500 anymore, and even though it is listed on some sites still, it is not available from the manufacturer anymore. Bosch discontinued all the old designs, that old Derwent look, gone into the history books. In fact I have one of the EX26LEDs here and that thing rocks, but again that was a killer price of around $400 dealer (I got it 2nd hand for free). Dont get me wrong, the UF500 WAS expensive. Most people just couldnt afford their gear nor did most ever need it. But man that was one of the first true flood IRs .. lit everything up like daylight. It used Halogen bulbs by the way, average life span was 1-2 years, cost $80 dealer price to replace!! And within 3' of the UF500 your skin would start to burn. And oh yeah I almost forgot, it also used its own power supply which by the way you bought separate, so in fact the prices you see online, the products would have been useless without the PSU which is an additional $200 But if you think that is expensive, you should see the price on their new IR cameras, not worth it IMO.
  11. Then they are ripping you off. THEY DO NOT MAKE THE UF500 ANYMORE. And I used to pay in the $600 range 5 years ago, dealer cost.
  12. If you ever used it before, it will be somewhere on your computer. Try locating the ActiveX control and any dependency files. Then you can make your own installer for other computers, or just install it manually.

Are any of these any good?

for those prices you might as well get a Dahua DVR. (eg. sold under the A-Data brand in the UK)
  14. When using IR, the lower the better. If you go too high you loose FOV, and would be looking down on their heads. Plus consider maintenance, cleaning after rain storms etc. In some cases like warehouses etc you have no choice, end up like 20-30' up, in general try keep them 8-12'. Obviously the lower you go and the location will depend on whether they need to be vandal resistant or not.
  15. Mounted them like this a few times, no issues. Also have computers sideways or flat or whatever, no harm.
  16. Bosch have a lot of models for LPR, and software, they were doing this for years when nobody else was in the game (under the Extreme CCTV brand).
  17. If you got a Dahua DVR or IP cameras (eg. Qvis, except that one is not Dahua), you use either the PSS software to monitor and record those offsite (eg. Hybrid but only their brand), or these next 2 companies also have inexpensive/trial/free NVR software that works with Dahua DVRs and IPCs and other brands. Digivision - supports Dahua, Ikvision, DG Series, Sony, ACTi, Huviron, Mobotix M12, Arecont, Camtron, Axis, Vivotek, Sanyo, ONVIF Linovision - supports Dahua, Axis, Vivotek, Hikvision, Stretch, Launch, Lemax, Hanbangaoke, Linovision

    Anyone use this q-see camera....

difference is that 700TVL will have the latest chip (as long as its the Sony Effio 700TVL, some claim 700TVL when they are still the same pixel count), latest features, or at the very least you know its not a refurb BTW 700TVL is generally the same price as 600TVL now. And when the 960H DVRs become more readily available in our neck of the woods, and cheaper, then could always make use of the full 960 pixels then.
  20. Ahh That would be dealer cost currently. Dealer cost for a UF500 was around $600-700 Its been discontinued for a couple years now so should not see any new models anywhere. There are some refurbs online for $600 retail, google UF500 and its one of the first results.
  21. 10 years ago, MSRP. Last time I bought one, or the client bought one, it was half that price. But they certainly work like a bat out of hell. Biggest drawback to them were the life of the bulbs.

If I wanted 100'+ of IR I would be looking at a bullet camera. Try a brand like KT&C for example, QC is know for being bottom of the barrel.
  23. You probably get an extra 20% by turning the power up. Its been a while so sorry I can explain LOL. They also had the UF600 I think it was, which was much more than the UF500. But the Super and UFLEDs replaced them all I believe. I used the 940nm UF100 and UF500 .. both were invisible IR, least I could not see any glow and I was used to using 850nm. I had to turn the power up on the UF100 at the time due to the wide beam I was using. That was a short distance though, maybe 60-70'.
