those are awesome, beats most MP shots ive seen so far. only thing, how is it at night? I dont think I have one client that doesnt need a low light camera also. This camera would be nice for a large single shot of a store though.
-
hmmm ... no IR ... bottom left .. exview bw 0.01 lux. i think top right 0.5 lux color. bottom left .. low light color 0.1 lux superhad ... lights off .. that standard 0.1 lux BW on the bottom right still representin and ok.. sum IR. (saved from old standalone at low res blown up to 640) ahh .. more .. (its not small, its just your monitor! ) dont mind that though .. here is a PC card capture with the cheapest color bullet you can buy .. my cost around $50 (i love when yall is pick the worst looking CCTV camera image you can find ) http://www.bahamassecurity.com/tmp/AMCAPeg1.bmp

why use a gas when you can use deisel? why use email when you can use a phone? some big brand box cameras had S-VHS outputs .. for spot monitors though, because the cost of using S-VHS cable costs alot more. I use to use it on the CCTV monitors also, and time lapse VCRs, not that long ago actually, but who uses Tubes and VCRs these days? Oh wow man .. this is whack .. check this old diagram out .. actually it still works to get better quality playback from DVRs, we all have seen the crappy quality on LCDs:

yeah but the IR is just no good normally. Well most of my jobs have been outdoors so inside a room it may work fine. Also, since that camera has IR, why are you worried about the night light being on? Or would you disable the IR in that case? Also .. every camera can be disabled .. vandal or not., little bit of paint, shine a light at it .. wear a ski mask ... etc . Thing is, I give video to the cops here, they have a perfect picture of the criminal right in front of the camera, doing the crime, and they still let them out on bail anyway .. only places i use domes now is withing reach like camera at face height pointing right at the faces of people coming into a night club .. otherwise if they would take the time to get to the camera thats out of reach, they can disable a dome just as easily. I admit it though .. im all domed out .. they are harder to install, normally a worse image, and typically cost much more than their bullet camera equivalent.
-
I stay far away from Domes with Integrated IR .. havent seen one yet that was worth it. I'd use a bullet camera over a dome any day though. That said Ive never used that camera, nor that brand.
-
i have plenty experience with Integrated Day Night IR cameras, but cant say I or my clients could ever afford megapixel IR cameras, besides last I checked there still wasn't much out there, in comparison to CCTV cameras.
-
Didnt realize you were talking about IP cameras. Since most are CMOS and/or poor in low light situations i cant say they will work or not.
-
i dont know the camera specs and Ive never seen the kids lights, but in a small area like a bedroom, even the light from just a TV would normally provide enough light for the camera to see something, in my past experiences when testing cameras inside and in the dark. If its 0.5 Lux rated and its not a major brand like GE, Bosch, Pano, Sanyo, Extreme, etc .. then expect the worst, likely it needs plenty light to see good. So perhaps worst case scenerio you will get a grainy image, but should see whats going on, at least in the area where the light is. If it was a large area like outdoors, then its less likely to provide much light for the camera.

Accessing DVR (eg AVTECH) inside impenetrable network
rory replied to cyber_wop's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Whatever you use, its going to have to connect to a server outside of your firewall ... then when you are on the outside, you can connect to that server, since you wont actually have an IP thats accessible from the outside. Good luck with your search. -
is port 10000 a new port in 8.2? previously it has always been port 80, 4550, 5550. Optionally 6550 if audio is used. Make sure the DVR has the same ports as your router even if you change them to something else.

and they'll wear a ski mask anyway so cameras become useless then
-
i prefer it, motion lights, decent color only camera, you save all kind of money and get a better image.

want to know what cctv camera product sells best
rory replied to Rayshine's topic in General Digital Discussion
what sell best now? $5 wide dynamic True day night bullet camera with 100' of 60 degree 950nm IR. oh yeah, MegaPixel $20 upgrade option for post record 1000' zoom and thermal IR. let us know when you guys have them ready seriously though, bullet cameras will always sell more quantity, bullet cams are weather resistant all enclosed plug and play, and cheaper to make and therefore sell. can use them inside or outside as is. there are tons of various types of bullet cameras though. as mentioned the cheapest crappiest IR cam you can throw together will sell the most, people are cheap (or broke) these days. -
Police? Cant even depend on them to direct traffic these days. Id sucker him into coming into my yard, then id take care of bizness straight up gangster style

How to split 2 cameras with video&power over 1 Cat5 &
rory replied to rupertotech's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
i prefer to avoid them also, these couple cases mentioned though were pitch dark applications, mostly, or at the least where an exview BW camera would not see anything at all - BW exview being one of the lowest light cameras still today, not to mention they wanted color in the day, either way not my clients. These were hardly cheap hacks at approx $2000 retail per camera, and they work 100% in pitch dark. Sometimes you have no choice, kind of like that gas station situation If its pitch dark, you need some kind of light or the camera is useless. -
How to split 2 cameras with video&power over 1 Cat5 &
rory replied to rupertotech's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
when the IR kicked in, the camera used more amps than the cable could handle. it is a dual voltage camera, with 24VAC for some reason it only drew 1amp, with 12VDC it used 2amps only when the IR came on. It is 150+ foot of Infrared, and 2 cameras in one (EX82 and EX80). Power was individually fused distributed 12VDC with approx 3amps per output. We simply ran 18g lamp cord wire to each camera and that solved the problem, doubled up Cat5 did not work. -
True ... their site does say IP to the Core. my bad .. well his.
-
something like this added to any camera. but you will still need a power outlet. They have kits with battery power but most use AA batteries. http://www.videotransmitters.com/index.php?SCREEN=view_catalogue_level4&model_ID=10

How to split 2 cameras with video&power over 1 Cat5 &
rory replied to rupertotech's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
no but what could happen is that if its an IR camera, at night time the camera could fail. I came to a couple installs before that the installers used either telco wire or cat5 to power their cameras, even doubled up and at short distances (less than 50 feet in some cases), and they were failing at night when the IR kicked in. Turns out it was because when the IR kicked in the camera then required 2amps, while in the day it was only using 1amp. However, thats when it was being powered by 12VDC; when switched to 24VAC it would only use 1amp day and night. Oh yeah, they were Extreme CCTV cameras and yes I was surprised Thats why I mentioned it depends on the camera. -
You are looking for a True Day/Night Wide Dynamic Camera. It wont be cheap though, and you will typically need seperate IR. You may be able to get away with out Wide Dynamic capability by simply using a more expensive camera, some just suck when it comes to handling light. In addition, perhaps the IRIS is adjusted to high or Super AGC is enabled, check camera settings, if there are no adjustable settings then its just a cheap camera and changing to a more expensive one, with options, might work at that location.

rory replied to rupertotech's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
depends on the camera. if its a cheap BW or color camera that has low amps, then maybe able to push it, if its a professional Day Night IR I really doubt it will work, even if you double up. Just pull the correct cable the first time. If you have no problem going back to the job and replacing the camera for free, then do as you like. Personally I wouldnt waste my time unless I do it right. Anyway, post the camera specs, cable distances, etc, and im sure someone can tell you if it will or may work. -
every couple years just sell the client a new DVR!!!

Is there a demand for a remote power off device via remote?
rory replied to scorpion's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
i like the telco feature, everyone has a telephone, more reliable than internet. But i dont think there is much call for it, maybe sell one or two a week .. look to target security companies .. like alarm monitoring companines, installers, etc. Ive seen these before though, been around for years. -
i have one in front of me. basic DVR. their remote (network) video quality sucks, but you get what you pay for, its cheap. Heck i got mine free.
