that camera was mounted on a post right where you see it, give or take a couple feet for the lens. Its the basic REG-L camera with their standard lens of like 4mm. Cars stop at the gate so there was no need for anything more. Extreme has other REG cameras with longer IR and longer zoom lenses. On a side note, Lighting fried this camera and its replacement, not sure what they have there now as it wasnt my client to begin with, I just helped with the initial install.

HTML 5 Compliance Anyone have anything in the works?
rory replied to destro_23's topic in General Digital Discussion
Theres already Java and Javascript options for Browser based video. as mentioned above though a client app is much better. For one thing viewing the video within a browser has its own drawbacks. Not sure if what video features you mentioned in this HTML5 will work for us, do you have any info on this? -
sounds like your PC is incompatible with Geo. What are the hardware specs?

Ok so now you are saying you ARE a rep, if not a rep a Distributor, same difference as you rep certain products, doesnt have to be just one brand. Many members here also have plenty of experience, and we could name names of places where we have done work which you would never have heard of either, but there would be no point. Yes, you are a distributor/dealer, like thousands of others we deal with all the time, this is not a term we are unaware of on this forum. Distributors/dealers is how many on this forum get their products, and you will notice some of them have paid for banner ads. Im not hating man, I just appreciate total honesty.

I have registered my company, got insurance, what do I need?

exactly .. i did 3 jobs over the last couple weeks where i took the bus. I carry the tools i needed inside a small portable DVD case. -
I use ALL kinds of cameras, $30 and $3000 ones. And yes once upon a time I was stuck on only using the most expensive too (incorrectly thinking they were better, or more professional) .. but times changed and you go with the flow. So any luck with the article yet? Why post a message saying you have an article but not the article itself?
-
Ok when you get a chance lets see the article, im interested. Reason I suggested you are a rep is that it seems your company Controlware UK sells these "IP" systems? As for $30 cameras, if a camera costs $100 and I buy 100 of them I can get them for at least $50. .. just an example .. id like to see what brand and type of cameras were quoted in both cases though, personally Ive used hundreds of different cameras over the years, ranging from Extreme CCTV (derwent in the UK, now Bosch) to the cheapest camera on the market. I go back to VCR tape days to the one of the first CCTV Systems that had LAN but dont get me wrong ive been involved in networking and computer hardware well before that and for years i was deep into software programming. Alot of IT companies have jumped on the CCTV bandwagon since the introduction of cameras with network connections, coming up with nicknames like "analog systems", "IP Cameras", etc, with little to no experience in the video surveillance industry or the security industry for that matter, so excuse us when we are not easily convinced. IP is not a new technology no matter what they claim
-
BTW I think we already agreed (if not on everything) ... DM charges outrageous prices IMO. But they can .. and so do Pano and a bunch of them, regardless of what I think of it .. heck Bahamas Customs charges me 60% Customs Duty on auto parts I bring in here from america .. sucks but I have no choice .. when looking at a CCTV system .. one has a choice so perhaps they will choose your system instead.
-
Just about every CCTV System these days has at the least a basic network interface, and can be assigned an IP address. The features available will be dependant on the model in the case of a stand alone system, but in the case of a PC based system (eg. Geo) the features can be endless. As to the cameras, there is not one single brand or type of camera in the world that will cover every single location and if someone thinks there is then they definitely shouldnt be in the CCTV industry. Therefore in the 750 camera system (or 4, 8, 16 etc system) there may be non essential locations where a $30 can work just fine. You would be amazed at the quality of some of these extremely cheap import cameras now adays - some of course are just plain awful but thats another topic. Why put a $1000 camera where a $30, or $100 camera will work just fine ... . Another thing to think about for either system .. why even wast the publics money in this time of economic depression when the criminals dont check for cameras anyway? Just a thought to ponder on ... Essentially though all they are, are some webcams and software ... unless you can prove otherwise? Ive yet to see a REAL demo from an IP rep ... yet .. you might surprise me
-
Theres an argument for both systems in a setup like that, but one thing IP reps fail to remember when they try to debate these kind of things ... so called analog CCTV also involves IP based systems; best of both worlds, $30 camera where a $30 camera will work, cant get that in an IP Camera. Hybrid, perhaps a mix in this situation. Anyway .. why not just post a link to this article? Also DM is hardly something to base a price comparison on ... only saying. I value everybodys opinion on this.
-
Since you are a control ware rep, why not just post the article for us?
-
yeah well DM is considered very over priced by most CCTV professionals. Same with Pano and a bunch more of the "big brand" players.
-
Really though, 750 cameras? LOL. Ok Ill bite ... 187 x 4 channel DVRs @ $50 each + 750 cameras @ $30 each. = $31,850. Cable same cost give or take a couple dollars ... power supplies ... small cost .. so what was the IP total cost? after all if someone here is doing 750 cameras they want to know the bottom line .. to take a year away from doing other work how much will they make?

that sounds crazy. I mean you guys have ALOT more laws then we do, and many of them make sense, but this makes none. This doesnt sound like a legal issue, this sounds like the client has some really whacky requirements. Its just a 4 camera job, dont waste too much time on it. Get in get out. If they have more parking lots and this is some job you expect to get many more from, then perhaps go further .. but I still dont get it .. they want you to have auto insurance for what reason? As a parking lot dont they already assume some responsibility for the vehicles parked there? are they worried about tools? If so then what about companies that park there now that have tools in them? Tell them if they have a problem you will pay for parking just to be within the same legal arena as everyone else that parks their vehicle in their lot. But whatever you do dont sign a waiver saying they are not liable for tools in your vehicle .. they could be crooked and steal them theirself. I deal with criminals alot so im very very paranoid of EVERYONE! Really sounds like they have someone lined up for the job already and they want to throw anything they can out there to stop other prospective bids, perhaps the manager is getting a cut. -
no idea what equipment you have, please tell? also, a few seconds in the microwave might do it, totally. psst. dont actually do that, it may blow up!!

there is no such thing. the industry is swamped with tens of thousands of brands and millions of different cameras.

A way to restart computer automatically after blackout?

the US is a big country though, im sure there are places there that can be very bad also. Dont get me wrong now, dont judge the whole bahamas, i just live in the capital, Nassau, which is where all the crime is (most of it anyway). Im not exactly a great tourist rep of this city so i wont say to much else some others just dont see what we see is all. I mean just up the road is one street where most people live in small shacks, no running water so they get water from pumps in the road, $600 for a basic water meter here so the poor just cant afford it (i have a well here myself). They grow up in shacks, fight and stab each other at school, carry that onto the night life or drug dealing life what ever (ok to be fair we have alot of average communities also, but I still call them ghetto) .. and ofcourse the cops beat people here (on camera no less) .. what do they expect these youth hate the cops .. crap many cops are the same as the criminals anyway. -
730nm-850nm is slightly visible yes. However 930nm-1100nm is invisible to the human eye, and is available in many of the Extreme CCTV products as well as many other manufacturers. Been around for many years. Is this the wavelength your IR is using?

i could write an essay about the telco problems so i wont get into it now someone called me 3 times tonight though before they finally got through to the right person .. me ... cross lines or something .. so .. I wouldnt have to carry my machete and steel stick over there? .. no iron bars on the windows? (and door), multiple dead locks on the main door, dead lock on the screen bars (thats 2 doors BTW), it takes me a few minutes just to get outside due to all the unlocking involved as well as preparing the weapons Hey I know guys that carry guns every time they walk outside, they are all business owners though. Should see the guys at the night club .. guns galore ... when theres a fight the guns just come out then .. cops are hired for the clubs and they carry guns also. Strange thing is guns are only legal here for shooting pigeons (hunting) in the out islands, otherwise its 6 months in prison for each bullet. really though im tired of seeing people beaten and stabbed on video .. its quite depressing after a while .. even more so when the criminals (mostly 17-20 year olds) are out on bail just 2 weeks after near killing someone right in front of the camera .. they stab the security they shoot the police .. they just dont care any more. Kind of effects the way you act when out in public now around this city, especially at night, most say paranoid, but i say cautious - if you always expect the worst, you will be ready for it when it comes along. Something like that anyway ... i need to start drinking again LOL. -

wanna see why this isnt the first world, well just another example. my neighbors old smokey (cloud type smoke) generator's exhaust pipe is just a few feet from my side window, in fact the whole generator house is just a few feet from my window. When they run the generator I have to leave the property as the smoke is too much, come back later and get headaches from the stench of diesel in the apartment. Letters and calls (including photos) to the responsible Government ministry here (for several months), but to no prevail, it remains as is. just one thing of many that sucks. -

yeah everyone i know that have their own home has a generator. When you rent though we're out of luck .. just get to inhale the diesel fumes from other generators The alarm company i deal with have 2 generators, one switches auto, the other is a backup on failure of the first one. -
last i checked that tool still doesnt do most of the work though. also see this i did for some one a long time ago:

In America, some UPS dont have AVR still. APC models i think it is 600VA and above have it, but say the basic 500VA model wont. We get the 550VA Latin America version here which has AVR. Some of them will have basic surge protection built in, but not the AVR we are looking for and which comes in that 550+ model. -

Surge protectors are useless in my country, except as extra sockets. Everything gets fried, not just the surge protector.
