AV1300DN image quality problem
rory replied to robert's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Also check any compression settings they might have. Almost looks as its 1.2 megapixel but shrunk down to 720x480 then resized back up to 1.2Mp, since its decent quality at 720x480 even before sharpening it. -

i just opened it in paint shop pro 7, resized to 720 width, and selected "Sharpen More", then one single "Sharpen". The second image i used "Sharpen More" twice. -

I agree they look a little out of wack, but otherwise the overall size and quality ratio is still very good. here is an example of a color bullet camera, raw video using AmCap (no compression, at least with the video). Keep in mind though this is not a high res CCTV camera, it is 380TVL or 512x492 pixels, and set to 720x480. Ofcourse the video looks a little better than this screenshot though but not by much. -
Nuttin, FireFox is working great for me, so I have no need to use that one The only new things id like to try now is a new jeep, a new job, and a new place to live

Why so hard to get PDA client support for DVRs?
rory replied to Dr. CCTV's topic in Digital Video Recorders
True, but if you have an enterprise system with managed router, then you have authenticate mac address, the special key assigned and then register the IP address allowing access... If you are in different places with Eee, then you are using different access point IP.. With PDA, you are online all the time and the IP does not change (you can have such service)... and this way you can have access all the time.. We talking about a pocket PC or something else?? If its a pocket PC then its going to have the same options available - wifi. if you mean a smart phone then thats cell i guess, never used that myself, though there are people in the UK and US using cell and all kinds of different types of access with their Eee PCs. I havent looked into it as it wont work for me down here anyway, heck land phones hardly work. anyway i like the Eee myself over a pocket PC so na na na Actually if they let me use VB6 on the IPhone then no doubt id play wid that too -

Yeah but Pocket PC apps and Windows XP apps are totally different. Dont know if wine works with pocket PC apps? Also all the apps I tried in Wine didnt come close to working. -

I can carry it everywhere I dont understand the second part though, both connect to wifi. Ive never had to authorize my IP address. Also, with the Eee you can watch all 16 cameras in just about real time video from a remote site. Plus you have an actual useful keyboard. -

I tell them get something like an Eee PC with XP Not really but still I had a couple pocket PCs and it was hardly useful for any kind of remote video, still images were about as best they could do. Tested with I-view and GeoVision. -
Its obvious the author of that article knows very little about the CCTV industry.

Actually I can get the basic GV250's and GV650's to work with apps like skype. But generally I dont see the point, there are other cheaper methods of video capture for that type of thing. I only did it because i wanted to use AmCap to capture the raw video for testing the cards at the time.

Or the hard drive

Crappy picture... any ideas? sample pic attached
rory replied to chr1z's topic in General Digital Discussion
For starters, have a burglar alarm that wakes up the entire neighborhood And i have a feeling, at least down here, they will steal it before they destroy it, perhaps mistaking it for a DVD device or PC. -

I understand that, however if the Bullet camera comes with an Varifocal lens, then it should be Auto Iris. If it isnt, then its the first of its kind as ive never seen or heard of a Day Night Bullet camera with a Manual Iris Varifocal Lens - anything is possible but in this case its highly unlikely. Remember these are not normal interchangeable lenses. Thank you for clarifying that though -

In one of those OSD settings it has a setting for sharpness, definitely try to move that all the way up. Not sure what that is even there for, maybe its a digital sharpness enhancer though and it might just mess up the image more. If its a Varifocal lens, set the Lens to Auto Iris. Set BLC Off. Set AGC off - UNLESS the day nght on the camera only works with AGC on, which is the case with many OEM cameras these days, and that truly sucks! -
I would lump Lorex in with the rest of those DVRs actually. I dont think anyone on the forum is going to recommend either of them . But will it do the job, it probably will, not sure how well though or whether it will meet your expectations. Pentaplex is just a fancy name the asian manufacturers came up with to distinguish the difference between their lower end DVRs and the more expensive units. I wouldnt be happy with 720x240 myself, let alone 320x240. Look for something that does at least 640x480 regardless of compression type.

yeah dem set is get mash too

I would dump the router for now and just plug the DVR into the modem, change the IP on the DVR ofcourse to match that range. When that works, then add the router back into the equation. Also, I would try with the ISP's IP and not the DDNS, at first. And try telnet, ignore the browser for now. Remember, if the modem has a web interface and port is set to 80, then if you just type in the DDNS in the browser it will goto the modem's interface. So if you set up the DVR with port 81 for the webcam servers HTTP port then you would need to port forward that and then enter YOURDDNSNAME.com:81
-
The modem may be using the same port for web access, see if you can change that in the modem or even disable it. Eg. Change 80 to 81. Also, try telnet to the DVR ports. eg. Start, Run, Command Promt: telnet ip port Geo Ports for Webcam server: 4550, 5550 (6550 for audio) or custom ports changed by yourself. These must be forwarded to the DVR. So once these ports are forwarded, try telnet: telnet YOURDDNSNAME 4550 Also, make sure on the PC DVR that the ports are open in the windows firewall, if that is enabled (default).

especially since i actually do have these darn insects crawling on my monitor alot. I went to mash it but it didnt try to run

I dont know much about Television but these guys claim: "the most resolution that will be seen for received TV broadcasts is 330 lines" http://members.aol.com/ajaynejr/vidres.htm And that could be correct, as I have hooked up many high res CCTV cameras with 800x + effective pixels and their video quality has blown away any TV programs I have watched on the same TVs. Ofcourse they cant match the actual TV Cameras used but thats neither here nor there, just as a CCTV PTZ camera can zoom in hundreds of feet away while a fixed camera cannot and the same object hundreds of feet way will be a blur with the fixed camera.

Isn't there a good all around camera that exists!?
rory replied to 3RDIGLBL's topic in Security Cameras
Looks good The colors look a little off on the cameras on the left or are those things really blue? But still decent shots. -
What is the highest CCTV camera resolution?
rory replied to cctv_addicted's topic in Security Cameras
Yep thats what most of the 380-420TVL cameras specify as their total image pixels. Ofcourse many of the lower resolution cameras are OEMS and they hardly ever provide that spec anyway, so this is based off a brand like GE in this case.
