    Anyone use this q-see camera....

I doubt many here buy from Amazon, they dont have that great a selection OR pricing when it comes to CCTV, gear is normally much more than from other retailers such as 123.
  2. I know you like to save money, so maybe see if you can get a second hand UF500 But also source some bulbs as they blow ever year or two. Or the UF100 even. You can also adjust the power higher to get further distance.
  3. LOL quite the over statement. Should be more like "when used with active UTP transmission". And even then you are putting the end result of the output video, in the hands of the UTP devices.
  4. Get the Bosch, they have all options you need.

    Conventional IR VS While Light

I was doing that 10 years ago with DVRs over the internet. So you had to have a electrician wire all of your lights and then cable all them back to the DVR with relays to use the DVR to turn the lights on and off. Sounds very expensive. How exactly did you control the dimming of the lights with the trigger output of the DVR? Could your DVR auto adjust the brightness of the lights individually? cheaper than a raytec 10 years ago we could do anything we wanted, just like now.

  8. I dont know if any motion algorithm can get around rain. Maybe if it only ever goes straight down but here it goes sideways and all kind of different directions and sizes not to mention all the splashing and water build up on the camera.

If you mean the tiny little booklet that even a Megapixel Camera installer could follow .. yeah I read it like 300 times .. there is no magic in that booklet that will make the product any better.
  10. uk law was changed 2011. you can protect yourself in your home or small buisness The law was not changed as far as I know. Plans to "provide clarity" to the existing law were spoken of, but there wer no changes to the rule of "use reasonable force". i.e if you shoot an intruder, you will still be arrested. Though gun ownership is still relatively rare in the UK. Plus you cant just have them lying around either, you must store them in a locked police approved storage cabinet. Usually made of steel, and you cant have the key in the same room as the safe. So you cant just grab one quickly The video above states that they cant think of a single American that ended up in prison for killing an intruder. Over here there are people in prison for just injuring intruders, never mind killing them. It truly is an incrediby stupid situation. I hope the evidence gathered for the OP is useful and the theives are caught. But then thats a whole different topic of what punishment they will receive. In the US you at least seem to deter criminals, or thats the impression we have over here. Our justice system just hands out Mickey Mouse sentences half of the time. we have similar laws here but business people with shotguns walk in and out of their store like its nothing. Also home owners seem to be able to shoot intruders and get away with it. Security are unarmed but many hire police as security who then bring along their weapons. Ofcourse its probably a little more violent here though .. murder rate almost doubled last year, 127 in a population of 300,000 - lots of drug or domestic murders though. island only 21x7 miles. country spread out with islands but most the population live on this one island.

chesterfield you still dont understand how avigilon works. YOU CANT BUY FROM AN INSTALLER not in the uk. unless you are a airport/ ship dock / customs house. you WILL not get them to install for you not in a domestic house. as far as the sites you have found in the uk. 1 being in kent. avigilon withdraw there partnership in 2008. check company house. then there is the bad part. you know what will happen after the install you can tell from your posts you will start to bargin on price you will want this cheaper that cheaper you are just an installers nightmare. so long as you are ok it does not matter if the installer can put food on his family table or not. Sounds alot like March Networks and Honeywell Video .. look where that eventually got them.

    Tablets

lol ya i take my 11" laptop everywhere... but it sure would be nice to not have to wait on it to power up or wake up out of sleep mode every time i need it my windows netbook boot up in 10 seconds from power on, sleep mode is near instant, its lighter than an iPad and has a real desktop OS. However, battery life ofcourse is less, but thats because I actually run real software and do useful things on it

  20. id probably look at a mini exview BW bullet camera, black housing, about the size of your finger. Check a brand like KT&C for them as not many making them these days. http://www.ktnc.co.kr/english/viewtopic.php?t=395 actual model numbers vary on the retail sites, but the 420TVL Exview sees more in low light than the 600TVL model, we use them in night clubs without IR. But if you want higher quality and to identify them at a distance you will need to get in close, or use something zoomed in, and get a bigger camera, and / or use Megapixel (then need IR as they dont see much in low light). But those normally come in a larger size. Might check Axis for something small in that area. Look for a micro or mini bullet camera, weatherproof ofcourse. The Recorder - in the ground could likely damage it? Anyway maybe check any mini 1 channel recorder with SD card. But they dont record for long normally, and most only save snapshot images. Otherwise could try a small 12VDC mobile DVR then you will have more options. Heat of being locked in a box with no air will likely kill it though. Not sure if any would support Solid State drives at least as the hard drive would be the first to go, if the SSD controllers would work with them? What about an IP encoder and wireless network transmission? Then can access and record it somewhere else if you have the wireless capability in that area.
  21. try VLC or AVI Demux .. they can read movies others cant. In fact I think AVI Demux uses VLC API.
  22. might take a week .. and have to count in the time to quote the job, collect payment, ordering or stocking equipment, system setup, training, call backs to show you how to use it again and again etc. If you want them to ONLY install and save money ask them if there is anyway to drop the total down .. eg. if you can order your own parts etc, they may be willing to work with you especially in this economy.

    QC444 upgrade to Dahua Firmware

The RTSP only works from firmware 2.608, even though you can telnet to the port on 2.606 it just never actually works. Unfortunately that unit is Dahua's most basic one, and uses a different firmware from all the others. So although it does seem the same in general as the LE-A, there can be some differences, one being the firmware updates are not as regular as the LE-A and others.
