What is the highest CCTV camera resolution?

Effective Pixels is all i check for, TVL means little to me.

    Camera Fading in and Out

Never had a problem. I would never leave a connection exposed though, for security reasons as well. I havent had any apps that required compression connectors.

    pc based software

I think you will find it better, also it allows quick back up, Basic Video editing, etc, and the video needs to be converted to run on other systems (there are ways around that ofcourse) which only the Geo software can do properly (speed adjustments during conversion as well as merging the video). Also see the links in the Geo forum for Free 3rd party software, look at the EzViewLog links, thats the portable app which is basically the same as the Viewlog (Playback) software on the Geo server. The Viewlog software lets you speed up or slow down the video, advanced searches, shows all the dates etc and has all the backup features for evidence sharing.

    pc based software

Have you tried using the GeoVision Playback software to view the video? Also, I would be more concerned about the memory, but either way this isnt DVD. I dont work for Geo so cant really say, though perhaps having to create that video huge video file in the back ground using software compression etc, might be a stability issue. Remember that raw video is huge, 10 seconds may be 800MB, so it has to compress it at the same time, and do that with multiple video feeds. Remember they dont know that the user has a Quad core

Why not just use the Geo software to go through the video? Also, 30-60 minutes, those AVI files would be much larger and I imagine that will greatly effect the system during recording, and playback. Also sounds like some yard beams tied into the DVR might cut back on alot of that recorded video, or even just using the software motion detection would save alot.

    AVerMedia versus GeoVision

I cant stand the Avermedia Software. With all the money they make one would think they could do ALOT better. Its not like they dont have enough staff.

    GV2008 (x2) or GV1480

Hi again, what frame rate you get in D1 with the extreme? JD Well no idea, but its gotta be a lot better than just the dual core, the Extreme CPU is Quad Core with 12MB cache .. flyin!! NOpe Nope and wrong again Rory! Dual core does not equal Core 2 Duo. Actually you are wrong in this case When I say Dual Core I mean Core 2 Duo. Personally I have never used a Pentium D so I would not be discussing that CPU.
  11. Couple things to look at: 1-Non Intel Chipset - most DVR cards require an Intel chipset. 2-Windows 2000 - some DVR software wont work on Win 2K. 3-Pica 2000 Software - is the card legit? Where did you buy it from?

    Problem with V 7.XX and V 8.xx and JPEG

Verify that it works with another DVR first: http://webcam.geovision.com.tw (select Guest Login and Jpeg Image Viewer) Also what OS and Service Pack are you using? Note that the Java app can be much slower. So if you have a very slow connection this could make it seem like its not video as well.

FPS - in - Post Your Tested PC

FPS can either be set manually for each camera *max fps* or in the case of that thread it is possible they are just listing the total specified fps for that card.

In my experiences the images are only created when the Java Browser app is running on a remote computer.
  16. GeoVision EzViewLog Auto Run Tool NOTE: this is a custom software program, but also depends on the EzViewLog backup program which is included with Geo. When this program is run it gives the user the choice to copy the EzViewLog back up folder and files to the desktop and run, or just run from the Optical Drive. This program was created as it can be very slow to run EzViewLog from the DVD sometimes, and some users might not be as tech savvy to manually copy the files to a folder on the local hard disk. The program looks for a folder beginning with the name SIBK. EzView Log is not included. Example dummy SIBK folder included. Instructions: * Copy your SIBK back up folder to the Optical drive (eg. D:\SIBK20080908) * Copy AutoRun.exe and AutoRun.inf to the Optical Drive Thats it. Now you can either run AutoRun.exe or once you have Autoplay enabled on the computer system it will just start when you insert the CD/DVD. The included dummy SIBK folder is just an example, do not copy that. Only one back up folder is supported. 17. LiveScan Geo - Version 1.4 Updated: August 30, 2007, 3.00am GMT-5 Remote Full Screen Sequencer for GeoVision DVRs Connects to the WebCam Server on the DVR. • Free Software • Video Scanner with PIP features. • No installation is required • Unzip file and run from that folder • Uses an INI file, Settings.ini (see below) • Required Codecs and files included. These are copied and registered on the user's PC if not already. Updates • Command and data port changes (v1.02). • PIP window and PIP hot keys (v1.2). • Audio port change (v1.3). • Check for active main cam and pip cam (v1.4). Known Issues: 1) When the PIP feature is enabled, some users may experience a rip effect in the main video, caused by the top and bottom of the PIP video. There is no fix at this current time. 2) When first launching the program and it shows "Connect to Server .." you cannot exit by hitting the Escape key. This is normal, to prevent object errors; you will have to wait until it finishes trying to connect before you can exit. 3) When connecting to a PAL system, setting 3 for high quality (720x576) it does not set. FAQ/Support: For Error Messages, please read the User's Manual. Terms This is free software and we are not to be held responsible nor liable for damage from the use or misuse of this software. SimpleVue Geo - Basic Remote Viewer

I dont use 8.2 so maybe they changed something, but in earlier versions it let you choose the size. Try the actual size option as that might be it. Either way its a setting on the DVR's webcam server side that allows for the higher resolutions. Rory

SimpleVue Geo - Basic Remote Viewer

Hi, ignore the advanced attributes section, stopping and starting the webcam server, you should see the resolution setting there on one of the tabs. I dont have a Geo DVR right now to look at but its there somewhere, i think under Video or Video server. It will list the actual size such as 320x240, etc What version of the Geo Software is it? Also, what resolution is the DVR set to? Rory

SimpleVue Geo - Basic Remote Viewer

Hi, once you set the webcam server to 640x480 or 720x480 it will allow you to select that on the remote side. Note its in the webcam server settings, which you can edit by manually stopping the webcam server then starting it again and changing the resolution size there before hitting ok.

    CamLogo.bmp Replacements

This replaces the default GeoVision image that is displayed when there is no camera enabled for a specific camera window. It is just a blank black image. Copy it to the "CommRes" folder. Since it is black, its suggested to make the Windows Desktop background color black also. To change it to another color; open up Paint Shop Pro or similar, open the file, use the selection tool to select by dragging over the whole image, select a new back color, then click delete and save the file. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/geo/camlogo.bmp .. Anyone else have other custom images for Video Lost, No Video, etc, please post in this thread. Sorry for the previous thread change but had to clean up. Thanks!
