alarms here arent much use either besides alerting you to a criminal coming to attack you or break in while you are at the location, here the criminal can be inside for a couple hours or days before the cops turn up if at all.
-
in this country its most useful to see the criminal during the act, like when they are outside trying to come and get you. The courts here normally just throw the video out and thats only if the cops ever show it to them, and they only have VCRs to play video and that too is only in rare instances. With or without the legal side of it, CCTV is still very useful for retailers which in most cases involve cameras in full lighting and small FOVs.

GeoVision Portable EZViewLog for AVI Event Files NOTE: this is not a custom software program, but simply a version of the EzLog backup program which is included with Geo. This is for AVI Event files which may have been copied direct from the DVR or downloaded using Remote Playback. This is the same version created from 8.1.1 when using the View Log backup feature. If you are using Remote Playback to download video files, this will certainly help you. This allows you to watch the [downloaded] video files as if you were sitting in front of the DVR. It helps for identifying perpetrators and following incidents, especially when viewing multiple cameras, as you can view all cameras in multi view. You can dump any Geo AVI event files into this, even as far back as a couple years ago. All other View Log features also exist such as Timeline Search, Backup, Save AVI, etc. This is great for Evidence Sharing such as when the Police require recorded video, and is highly recommended over just supplying them with single AVI files. Instructions: * Create the required camera folders (cam05, cam01, etc) * Create the date folders (0617 - June 17th) under the camera folders * Copy the [downloaded] AVI event files into their date folder (make sure it is the correct camera folder also). example camera file (txt) and folder included Once you have added all the files, use the EZRepairLog500.exe file to update the database. * Select all cameras, click OK. * Choose the button to browse for the default path (to the right of the label Default Path), click OK. * You will see the default path in the list box; this is the path to the folder where EZViewlog is now located and where your video files were placed. * Check the box "Rebuild all information.." * Click the button "Use Default Path" Thats it. Now you can either run EZViewLog500.exe to view the playback, or you can simply copy the entire folder to a CD or other portable media. Additional: The file GeoLan.ini contains the main configuration for EZViewlog. You can do most of that in the EZViewLog setup section. However in this file you can also name the cameras as well as set the default camera (the one that plays first or is in the top left window). Setting the camera names is self explanatory, but to set the default camera find this line and edit the camera number: [4-Any] Current=0 <-change 0 to your default camera AVI Event File Information: example file name: Event20070617043855005.avi ================= Event - default 2007 - year 06 - month 17 - day 04 - hour 38 - minutes 55 - seconds 005 - camera .Avi - extension Notes: * Files from previous versions such as 7.0, will also work with this. * When you add/delete AVI event files you must run the Repair Log to update the database. * If you name a camera it will be the same for any AVI event files placed in that camera folder. * You can name the EZlog folder anything you like. Ive recently had some EX82'a do this, it was bad photocells. Other than the photocell, light in the area can cause it to switch back and forth, or reflection of its own IR onto a close reflective surface can cause it to switch as well.

Its 480fps at CIF, 120fps at VGA/D1. Smart Motion Recording helps though. Sounds like you might be interested in the GV-2008 which claims 480fps at D1.

Yes you need those 2 ports as well. Data port is for the .. data .. eg. Video. Command port is for the commands the activeX/Java sends to it. I imagine commands would be such as for PTZ and Relays, though it is possible it is for everything the DVR's Webcam HTTP server responds to, with the data only being for the video. Its possible the HTTP port is only required for the browser as using it outside of the browser, we dont need to set an HTTP port. Since I dont have Geo's ActiveX and Webcam server code itself, I cant say for certain.

Hi there, I updated the page here and put the link back on the home page: http://www.bahamassecurity.com/livevue.asp I discontinued development on the old and current version, as the new one is all new code and actually has a much faster GUI. I have no timeline on the release of the new one nor any licensing information as yet (considering freeware with donations, or even open source). I have been out of commission for quite some time, but have been back in full force on its development for a couple weeks now. It will be back as a GeoVision only app to begin with, but I plan to add in support for IP cameras after the initial release.

anyupdate on iphone viewer for geovision? i may have got 1
rory replied to chronometre's topic in Geovision
Isn't the Iphone essentially just a basic Mac OS? I imagine any Java based browser app should work. As to 3G speeds, never used 3G so cant comment. -
LOL @ Scorpion and Rick, you guys are the Welcome Crew welcome to the forum BTW

A slight glow is also good for eye safety reasons.

Not sure if there aren't other ways. I can get an image from my Arecont at the command line using "wget", an http utility. For example this will save an image to the current directory with the name image.jpg: wget "http://:8008/img.jpg -O image.jpg" Sounds like the Arcont is storing images though? If thats all he needs then he's good to go .. but then again the price of the arcont might put him off. I think you can also grab a jpeg from the others like Axis, same as with most DVRs. My mind was more on the video and other features when mentioning the activeX/APIs. I guess they are all storing at least 1 current image then.
-
Money might be an issue though .. he could just get dead cheap CCTV cameras (useless outside ofcourse LOL) bought from ebay, like 2nd hand even, and a dead cheap 4 channel card from like tiger direct or somewhere, useless for any real security app ofcourse .. maybe just a USB DVR .. the really cheap ones .. then use generic software .. depends what kind of budget they have really as IP cameras are not cheap. IP cameras still require proprietary activeX for what he needs to do.
-
Maybe get a cheap 4 channel card and just use the DVR software to save Jpegs (or use other software to do that, could easily convert AVI files to Jpegs also) .. then write a separate app to run on the same PC that starts and stops the DVR software when you need it, and deals with the image files as you need them. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=2021 http://www.shrinkwrapvb.com/vbcode.htm Optionally, take a look at Axis IP Cameras, they have Free downloadable SDK where you can just put the activeX into your project, 1 for each camera based on IP. Also, with GeoVision, you could run a DVR and then use a separate PC to connect to that DVR over the network, using the ActiveX with the Geo SDK you can have it save Bitmaps from each camera, then do what you want with them, eg, convert to Jpeg. The Axis route might be a better approach though as only 1 PC is required. The Geo SDK allows you access to the raw feed in C++ but the drawback is that the Geo server software must be running already. Its more geared towards making your own video server for example.

I downloaded it before for my Pocket PC I had, and they wanted you to buy it, so never used it again. Is it free now?
