  1. I do alot of low light and pitch dark installs, yet to see an IP camera (that wont cost alot more) that matches up with a CCTV camera in those applications. And yes we are typically able to identify the suspects face in most of the situations.

Eee pc and Geo remote access.

I use my Eee PC to view Geo DVRs .. I use my own custom software If you go over to the eeeuser forums, I have posted an Nlite session file there that guides you towards a very stripped down XP SP2 installation (130MB ISO, 380MB Installed/280MB Compressed) but more importantly a faster overall system along with additional tweaks that are posted there. And I have more tweaks to come. But even with a normal XP SP2 install, should not have any issues. Rory
  3. Maybe its just the cheaper Pano CCDs, as these are all OEM Cameras with Pano CCDs, not original Pano cameras themselves?

    B-connector - Silicone filled

Gel filled, and we called them Beanies (they also come without gel). We used them for telco wire (2 pair 22awg) in the Burglar Alarm Industry, such as joining (splicing) 2 wires anywhere corrosion may occur (eg. weatherproof gang box near the oceanside). With Beanies you can just use your small cutters to clamp them tight, or even remove them if needed. Also see: http://www.cynwydinc.com/connectors.htm

Is this the best quality setting?

yeah but mine has basic, normal, best, high ...
  6. sucks hey I wish I had the Cameras when I was setting up the DVR, then I could have tested various versions including 7.xx. Also, there was always an issue with the Combo cards and Borders with all cameras I used when in 720x480, try turning it down to 640x480 and see if that doesnt fix it, as it did for me when I had that particular issue.

Is this the best quality setting?

    how is Avermedia??

The software is very limited, cant say its user friendly either. But to each their own. Compared to other cards though, the software is like they just took their old basic capture card software and added 4 inputs (or more). The live quality seems a little better than Geo's GV250-800's, but on the NV-3000 the Webserver relies on the recording settings, which IMO is less than adequate. Geo has a separate web server no matter which DVR card you use.

Which Geovision Card for my application ?

Is this the best quality setting?

CIF is the lowest quality (actually resolution). Change it to D1 or 4 CIF if it doesnt have D1. BEST should be the "best" actual quality setting, but if it goes to ULTRA or SUPER before it goes back to LOW then use one of those instead.
  12. Hy Andy, it also occurs on the GV800, and GV650. This is only with certain camera models. I tested all the codecs and sources, everything, same results. Windows XP SP2, same as Ive been using for a few years now.

    Firewall penetrators

Ye I see that when i go to europe when there is a fire the homes walls stay up just replace the roof rafters and home is ok again, But here we loose everything we call it matchstick homes even 5 or 6 story condo units. Just wood.. Well we still got plenty of those too, what with the Shanty towns and such .. actually most of the old style island homes are still wooden. Look perty but would probably go up in flames in no time and hurricanes love them. Most newer homes and not those island style ones, are built with brick though.

    Firewall penetrators

Figured it just being like paper/cardboard it would light right up? So many codes in the US yet so much is drywall .. we got mostly brick walls here, inside and out (but very little codes at least non enforced) Takes about 1 hour for the fire trucks to get here also ... they gotta go find some water first .. if they cant get any from the couple pumps they have located miles apart on the island ,then they goto the ocean and pump salt water all over the property >..

    can't connect to dvr

I have a British Passport, I can hop on a plane tonight Its machine readable so no visa required .. takes like 45 minutes flight to Miami .. check in can be 2 hours prior though. I normally need a couple days though to move all my important stuff out of this apartment and store it somewhere safe for the trip, otherwise they could clean me out .

404 error is a Page Not Found error, so yes the server is found, just not the page. You have to go into your IE Security settings and either change the Internet ActiveX Settings to prompt where they are disabled, or add the domain to the Trusted Sites list. Whether this will solve the 404 error, doubtful, but worth a try. It is possible that she has some other software installed that could be causing her issue (Nortons, Firewall, etc). Also, make sure she is logged in as an Admin user, not a limited user.
  22. Ahh yes .. didnt catch that thanks .. still .. thats low compared to here. Wonder what their population is.
