it would be the Network Card's Mac Address, typically. start, run, cmd type: ipconfig /all the physical address is the network card's mac address

Yeah had this problem recently also .. every reboot I had to reinstall the drivers all over again Luckily I was only using AmCap to test some cameras outside of the Geo software though. Maybe its some anti piracy feature on the cards chip or something that changes on reboot .. dont see how but only a thought. Dont remember having this a couple years back when i tried it then. @ rocko_mtv the SDK doesnt let you do much in that respect, in fact its pretty much just an ActiveX and then a seperate couple DLLs that need the Geo Server open for you to be able to do anything. However anyone can modify the Geo skins without having the SDK and therefore making it somewhat customized.

Black line taking up lower part of vid from Pano CCDs in Geo
rory replied to rory's topic in Geovision
Thanks, all the wiring and power seems to be in order ... only the new cameras are doing it .. the ones with the pano chipset .. the older one (3 months but still brand new in the box, just an older version) is fine on both DVRs as are 15 other cameras (some are the same but older version and the rest are all different types of cameras all powered from all kinds of different sources but still not having this problem) .. Seems like its gotta be something to do with the Geo and this brand and version of cameras, just not sure what yet. -
Well for starters it wont be a Dome. Also, it wont be a bullet camera from an OEM manufacturer. Lastly, it wont be cheap. What kind of budget are we looking at? Thats the real question. If they want one of the best night vision cameras, then they shouldnt have a budget. All this ofcourse is based on it being a Day/Night IR Camera you are asking about, not just BW with IR.
-
good info CameraGimp, also something to note that on a couple Day Night bullets and one Day Night dome I recently dissected the Mechanical IR Cut filter was part of the lens, it sits between the focus and the zoom, and to get to it you remove the zoom (dont do it less you have time and patience and dont mind rendering the camera useless if you loose the tiny screws and have no spares ). Least it was on the CNB, Eclipse, Sanyo, and as far as I can tell (though I didn't not disect that completely) the Nuvico.

Axis vs Vivotek (with images)
rory replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Nah ... stick it in the back yard in the pitch dark .. lets see how far it can see (provided its at least a 50x50 yard) PS. is that both the Axis camera? -
Need to monitor a group of trees 300' from my house...

I would start with beams and get the alarm up to speed .. Also, can you run cable out there for the cameras, to tie into the DVR? -
Axis vs Vivotek (with images)
rory replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Oh .. okay so its an IP Camera with a composite output .. and the Vivotek image is using the built in IP server .. while the composite goes through the Axis server? If so thats messed up -
Not that many BW cameas being sold these days anymore, but yes more customers seem to be interested in IR now so I imagine that is why. I havent come across a BW camera though in the past several years that had an IR Cut Filter, but it could depend on the brand and model ofcourse. How old are the ones you have, and whats the brand?

Axis vs Vivotek (with images)

People typically buy what they can afford, or want to spend. if they can only allocate $100 a camera for a surveillance system, due to other bills or whatnot, then thats all they can do. Quite honestly though one can easily identify a person or object in most cases even with a $50 bullet, especially with a view such as the examples above; not at any great distance though (other light glare issues also apply), but basic identification, yes in most cases. So it really depends on the application and budget, lighting, etc - day time is always easy .. nighttime is the real test. Worst case scenario .. low res BW Bullet camera .. night time .. shooting death occurred more than 75' away .. lots of light but still blurry due to cheap and dirty camera ... after 3 hours of enhancing and going through the video .. i was able to make out the model of the vehicle which the killers used. Granted it wouldnt stand up in any court and I had a major headache, but it was better than nothing Customer has plenty other CCTV cameras which produced Identification at other locations, and originally only wanted a cheap camera for basic overview of that area ... now .. well he still hasnt upgraded yet .. other things must be more important to him .. eg. cashiers tiefing. PS> maybe one is just focused better than the other? Different lenses maybe? Perhaps just different compression, as the file sizes are different. PSS> Thanks goes to thewireguys for posting all these samples they have been doing for the past several weeks. -
Infrared Cut Filter is simple .. without it a Day Night Camera will pick up IR in the day time also .. such as from the Sunlight .. that way the colors will be all off, or in some cases florescent like. The IR Cut Filter goes over the chip in the day time and blocks out the IR. In the nightime the camera removes the IR Cut filter and it once again can pick up IR. Most color only cameras will have a fixed IR Cut Filter, while BW Cameras should not have one at all. Yes as far as I know IRC is just shorthand for Infrared Cut Filter. Best to check the camera specs though to make sure it mentions a mechanical IR Cut Filter. As for IR Optimized lenses, they should say that on the lens itself. However from the previous cameras I just tested, even those still have some minimal focus shift and focusing under low light conditions were still the optiomal solution, in fact I found focusing under controlled lighting is the best as you can then focus in low light and make sure it is staying in focus in full light as well as in pitch dark with IR on, and ajust as needed.

I can even throw in one Bahamian accent and a bottle of rum dred
-
Cool .. as to the color issue, the first one has no IR Cut filter, which is why the colors are off in the day.
-
LOL .. I dont know if I can pull it off though .. too much work for $20

Using this with separate color and BW bullet cameras: http://www.fmsystems-inc.com/cw/Details.cfm?ProdID=205&category=4 And a photocell to somehow send 12VDC to it? The unit operates with any video standard and is compliant with 75 Ohm standard video terminations. The unused video input is always terminated with 75 Ohms internally, while the throughput video is switched straight through without any amplifiers or buffers to prevent loss of video when power is off. The 12 VDC or 24 VDC input operates the switch. When power is supplied the relay will be in the “Bâ€

Installer monitor that's worth the money?
rory replied to sinbad's topic in General Digital Discussion
I agree with that i am also using a camera master 1 but i to aim it & trouble shooting you need a lcd... I get by with a 9" BW CCTV Monitor .. also get a great focus with it. -
they could also just send me $20 and I can tell them they are protected
-
No Day Night camera can beat the quality of a separate BW and separate color camera .. hence the idea is to make something similar to an Extreme CCTV EX82, but on the cheap side.
-
make it and we will buy it

But ofcourse, you can get fans with less airflow. Also, you can still get fans with the same airflow as other fans that can be quieter - what does one want to spend?

There is no such thing as the best DVR. Each one has its Pros and Cons, and each job has its own requirements.

Help trying to convert umv files to moviemaker usable format
rory replied to Gesualdo's topic in General Digital Discussion
The DVR player should have an export/save feature to save as AVI or Mpeg. If not .. dont think it will easy to find something to convert that as it seems like a proprietary file type. -
KT&C True Day/Night cam thinking of buying anyone used t
rory replied to dopalgangr's topic in Security Cameras
Sorry, I meant the Extreme CCTV "Wizkid" line. The WZ16 is the same as the KPC-N600H from KT&C Yeah I was figuring that but they look so different. At least from the KT&C Image, as I haven used one of them. The WizKid has the varifocal adjustments on the outside of the camera .. also has the star shaped holes instead of alan keys. -
http://www.cnbtec.com/en/html/product/product.php?seqx_prod=240 It claims to be CCD and WDR ... with a 2.9-10mm lens. Looks interesting especially for the price ... Anyone tried it yet? Thanks Rory

Thanks! Looks a little bright but that might be the DVR/AI settings? Pitty they are moving to Pixim though .. I never had good luck with the GE one that uses the Pixim Chip. Also, I contacted them but go no reply, so looks like Support is zilch Still I might try one though .. as they still look ok.
